to be honest, I was wondering how long Dr. Eric Berg would be allowed to help people with so many of his healthy videos that are actually helpful. Anything that helps people find healthy solutions without using Rx or surgery, always has the risk of cancel culture/shadow banning/regulations. So sad.
@@erntefreude as much as I dislike that fact, it doesn't make his advice on health bad. He's helped millions of people, just read comments on his videos.
@@EatLikeABear there's a very sad case that has to be with someone similar to Dr. Berg, but for the Spanish speaking community, his name was Frank Suárez. We even make jokes that Dr. Berg is the anglo "Frank Suárez" 😅 He helped hundreds of thousands of people through his videos here in RU-vid (his channel is @MetabolismoTV), his books and his weight loss clinics. He was Puerto Rican and before his death was writing a book about how to cure cancer. It was almost premonitory that, in one of his videos, he commented: "...those who research cancer die in the strangest ways, some fall from where no one falls, just like that", and on February 25th, 2021, mysteriously "he threw himself" from the balcony of his apartment. The police, from the first moment, declared it a suicide because they had, according to them, the testimony of a single woman who was cleaning in the hallway of the floor where Frank's apartment was located. Conveniently, that woman's name was never known, nor was her face ever seen. They just declared it a suicide, no autopsy, no investigation, no nothing. Quickly, the next day, Frank's children, wife and mother, along with a member of his work team, recorded a video in which they assured that "they were happy", thus, in those words, with the opinion of police. They looked noticeably dismayed, but especially, terrified. Evidently, he did not commit suicide. Frank Suárez used to close each of his videos with the phrase: "...and I tell you this, because the truth, the truth always triumphs." And that, precisely, is what all of his followers hope will happen in the event of his death that, sooner or later, "the truth will always triumph."
I love your honesty. You're the soul sister to every woman who has ever spoken the truth and paid the price for it, then spoke it again, and again, and again because it needed spoken. We love you. Thank you.
Excellent video, Amanda!! Thank you, also, for the reminder that all we need is already within us. I have both of your books and my immediate response after watching this video is to grab them off my counter and to revisit what I know to be successful. I first discovered Eat Like.a Bear during 2020......during which time I lost 50 lbs (72 was my goal, so I didn't quite get there), but as the next 2-3 years moved on, I became less "committed" and allowed myself to stray.....eating carbs more often, snacking (even low carb snacks, but still snacking), etc. By 2022, I had gained back 20 of the 50 lost. I have been able to hold the gain to 20, but I need to "re-commit" to the Eat Like a Bear framework in order to lose the 20 and the remaining 22 to reach my goal. I am of the "older, overweight woman" demographic, i.e. 70+, but healthy and semi-active and want to stay that way into my 80's and beyond!
I am similar to you. I lost 100# with ELAB but then I was less committed and did not do maintenance. I actually self sabotaged myself and am only now trying to recommit.
@@EatLikeABear I'm going to try to! I felt a lot better. I never reported myself as a century bear. I probably should have - it might have made me more accountable to myself. anyway, you're a great inspiration. -Michelle Marcus
Amanda's recipes and videos are phenomenal! Love them! Practical, nutritious meals to get in shape, great way to change out McDonald's and other fast food places that won't assist one's health in any way shape or form.
Thanks for speaking truth! You are such an inspiration and that is another reason your message has captured the hearts of so many. You have been where many of us still are. And you have led the way of escape from the bondage of food addiction, obesity and all of the other related illnesses for those journeying ahead of us. Thanks for being the trailblazer!
I am in my 5th month of Eat Like A Bear, I am not hungry and I get all the nutrition my body needs. The support from and connections with other Bears is priceless! I am 50#s down and gonna be a Century Bear before a year is up. You are brilliant, authentic and amazing Amanda. I am a bear for life! ❤ 🐻
Thank you for sharing what you did!!! I love your positive attitude!!! I love your message in living this lifestyle simply and attainable for everyone!! You don't need to put money out to advertise, when you are a living positive example of your successful attractive changes in your life!!! Our lives speak louder than words!! That is the best advertisement there could be!! Yes, becoming a crybaby when we get "cancelled" is a turn off!!! You have a very mature attitude about this!!! 👍. Thank you again, I was really blessed to hear what you had to say on this video!!!!! 💕💕🤗🤗
I love you Amanda and I hope they don’t cancel you. I really enjoyed your videos and I hope to continue to enjoy them. They really really inspired me and helped me in my life.❤
I agree wholeheartedly! We don’t need the supplements!!! And another thing that bugs me, all these carnivore people tout the all meat diet (and I’m pro carnivore) but then push the LMNT electrolytes on everybody, just to make a Buck. They talk out of both sides of their mouth.
Yeah, we can buy the salts and make our own. I do buy commercial electrolytes some time when I'm out and about and they have a purpose, but we really have to be careful about the messages with these things.
Yes, ma-am. You hit my trigger/cancel point at ~11:30 - supplements. I'd like your perspective on one specific supplement - Potassium. My research (retired submarine Navy electrician, now a business analyst) seems to bear out his statements about the 'shortage' of potassium - daily recommended amount is 4700 mg.... yet any supplement only has 100 mg.... And eating 3 ounces of spinach leaves to get a portion of that is quite a bit. So, that's the biggest supplement that I pursue. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on Potassium and the difficulties on acquiring, or what I'm missing. Thank you - honestly really appreciate you.
While I'm definitely against promoting supplements, there are obviously nutrients our bodies need and there are some many of us don't get enough of, potassium is one of those. I do pretty well getting enough in my diet, but I do keep salts around and make my own electrolyte concoctions when I'm under added stress or out doing more hard-core hiking. I'm away from home, but I'll check what potassium I have in the pantry now. It's simple and inexpensive and there's no need for a bunch of weight loss claims around it.
I love my chiropractor because he does adjustments, period. He doesn't sell any supplements, therapies, potions or lotions. He has told me he has no desire to get into that industry. And he is always a busy man.
It does seem to be either/or. I have a chiropractor now who pretty much does only adjustments. He has others in his office who do complementary physical therapy sorts of services as well
I lost all my weight before I bought your book. After losing the weight, I’ve been buying all your books to just say I love you and appreciate everything you do. This was an amazing, eye opening video. I was never able to lose weight before you.
I have an issue when the person identifying the problem is selling the solution. They then lose credibility when money is involved. I really appreciate Amanda that you have not jumped on the supplement bandwagon.
You are a bright, SANE and positive role model for healthy change. I really enjoy your channel and am just starting out on my own journey. I have recently released 10 kg./22 lbs.😊
As always, Amanda, thanks for the heavy dose of common sense! Thanks for those facebook ads. I think that's how I found you. I'm still 100#'s down from my starting weight. God Bless you!
and you may get most or all of that in your food! I admit that I add quite a bit of salt/sodium to my meals. I do take some additional when I'm under a lot of stress or doing high-endurance hikes in the heat
I think he has good intentions, but it's sometimes difficult to step back from the impact of some of these decisions. I might have easily sold supplements in the beginning because it is, simply, what everyone does!
@Eatlikeabear: I don't think his intentions are pure because he thinks of his subscribers as "S.P.s". The subscribers are just numbers for getting that annual 5 million bucks, which his son says that millions are getting funneled into Scientology. 😢.
So true! I used to be young and pretty. When I started going through menopause, it was like a switch being turned off. Cancelled! It was as if I didn’t exist in public any more.
Thank you for this. There is a very informative video/interview with Dr. Berg's son Ian on the Growing Up in Scientology YT channel. I highly recommend watching it. I appreciate ELAB for empowering me to take charge of my own health.
You are so amazing Amanda! The more I listen to real scientists like Andrew Huberman, the more it solidly backs up all you share. Over and over. Thank you!
@@reneep388 RU-vid pays an ad revenue share to its video creators and it can be significant amounts of money. I don’t get enough views for it to matter, but maybe some day I’ll have real money and we’ll see what I choose to do with it. Back in 2020, that ads strategy gave me about an extra $100,000/year and it had a tremendous impact. I didn’t pay myself in that time, so it probably wasn’t sustainable but we can dream…
Berg is the opposite of kind and generous. He's a scientologist whose own son was "canceled." His son, Ian, was brought up in the cult. Berg and his wife have shunned Ian, and he is considered dead to them. Ian's crime was to escape from the cult, and he now exposes Scientology for trafficking children and adults, too. How's that for "kind"?
Not just in your country Amanda, the whole worlds obesity problems are pushed and supported by the weight loss industry and it simply isnt good enough. The whole purpose of slender white males who advocate for healthy lifestyles is MONEY. Full stop - end of story. I am so very grateful that you advertised in 2021 because that was when I found you and the beautiful bears. I have evicted about 70 pounds and its still coming off at a slow rate. My doctor is still thrilled with my success and I tell as many people as I possibly can about ELAB. I had my daughter make a sticker for my car, and I AM a walking advertisement. I do wish I could convince more older women (friends of mine who NEED ELAB) to join in. I will keep trying :) I hope you are NEVER cancelled Amanda, the WORLD needs you and ELAB! Thank you again XO Colleen in Australia
When the man tries to hold an 80s down we wear a helmet and go in head first. Life is hard but being a wimp just makes THE MAN thrieve. Eat life like a bear. Love your vidoes and i know its gonna be hard to quiet you down. I pity the Man.😂
I learned a lot from Dr berg, I'm going to continue watching. RU-vid sensoring healthy alternatives is an important issue. It's a big turn off when a RU-vidr dumps on another youtuber. You come off as jealous of his money.
I’m not sure I feel “jealous,” but I’d most definitely like to have the opportunity to be cancelled to the tune of $5M in revenue!!! No doubt. What RU-vid has done is created a variant in its algorithm to advantage MDs and other organizations. We all have many other ways to get the message out. We can also go back to school and become MDs.
I suspect if I were all that jealous, I’d be selling supplements. That’s where the money is. Why would I be jealous of his supplement revenue if I oppose those sales on principal?
Every doctor and every channel has content that I think is "off" (but I'm just opinionated like that). I do support the diversity of off-ness so that we can all make our own decisions. :)
I stopped watching him when he started pushing his products. They aren’t even that great. The point of trying to eat the way I do is to get away from drug (big phrama) and product pushers. I even stop following accounts of health journeys the moment they start pushing products for companies and turn into commercials.
