Dennis Prager (conservative commentator and founder of PragerU) wrote the WORST article about how women are disproportionately hurting America with our crazy emotions and empathy for those who’ve been marginalized and hurt by society. Oh, the horror! In this video I respond to Prager because not only does he fail to back up his claims with any evidence whatsoever, but he accidentally makes a compelling case that women are at the forefront of societal advancement.

Maybe unrelated but I just need to vent. I'm a woman doing a BSc and I'm feeling really disheartened lately because people keep assuming I'm stupid for some reason... like two people now have been surprised that I know how to wire a plug and insinuated that I'd need my boyfriend's help... meanwhile I literally have electricity of a module and my boyfriend has an irrational fear of electricity. Also my boyfriend's dad was surprised I could gut and prep a fish when he knew I used to be a professional chef and literally did it for hours a day as a trainee. I went into the shop to get a new drill bit because mine broke and the guy there said 'yeah that happens when women use tools'... my brother broke it... and then asked if I was busy with the project I was doing "all by myself"? ... and a bunch of other small examples. I'm getting really irritated... like do I just come across as stupid? Do they not listen when I say I've worked I certain field and studied stuff? I did half a Bcom and someone at work started trying to explain the double entry system to me and I'm like... yeah.. I know.. but the hotel policy is not following the acruel system and they were like.. oooh yeah... 🤦‍♀️ why are they explaining highschool accounting to someone who has done second year accounting at university??? Oh, I so feel you! I could compile a whole list of things that get to me: - I asked my uncle if I could borrow his drill with a circular saw fitting because I had bought a new hi-fi unit which didn’t have a hole to pull the plugs through. Instead of just giving me the drill, he came himself to do it for me, along with my cousin. After cutting the hole, he told my cousin to reconnect my gear. I asked him who the heck he thought had connected it beforehand - When I went buy a combo washer/dryer that could be fully integrated into my kitchen with a door in front (it’s common in Germany to have a washing machine in the kitchen or bathroom). I was told by the very arrogant salesman that such a thing doesn’t exist. I told him it does, I saw it in a leaflet, but he insisted it didn’t. I decided to leave and bought the machine somewhere else. I always felt like going back and telling him that someone else got the good money I paid for the “fata morgana” in my kitchen. - I started a new job in a small company in 1995 and the co-worker who was responsible for the IT beside his regular job came up in the morning of my first day to check if the PC was free of viruses. He pushed the floppy disc in and before he could say anything I started entering the DOS commands to start the anti-virus software. He looked at me in total surprise and said “wow, you’re not exactly inexperienced with computers, are you?” I had worked with computers since 1979!! - In a later company I worked for, men were generally more accepting of women as equals, but they still praised my parking skills and told me I could take it up with any man when it came to parking in tight spaces, as if women are totally incapable of doing that. - A Telekom representative came to my flat to discuss a change of my contract. Looking around my living room at all my equipment, he gave me a surprised look and said “Wow, you really know how to handle technical equipment!” I live alone, so no man around to deal with things, I’m a do-it-yourself woman, and that includes upgrading or exchanging broken components in my computer! BTW, I’m 68! Men look at women of my age as if we don’t even know how to install and use an app on our phones.

Damn! This article is really trying to make the case that men are the perpetrators of most violent crimes and that women are to blame for it! What ever happened to personal responsibility? I understand that there are a lot of factors that affect weather a person is going to commit crimes, but you cant just go around blaming everyone except for the person who committed the crime. Especially when the people they are blaming (in this case women) are often the victims of these crimes.
@presentfuture7563

The biggest irony is that these are the guys who are always screaming about personal responsibility. I guess they mean for other people, and by other people I mean women.
@darthszarych5588
@darthszarych5588 Год назад
@@presentfuture7563 that's very true. In my experience, people who argue in favor of responsibility are the ones who have the fewest external obstacles so they believe that this is the case for other people. Also oil companies and other polluting industries use personal responsibility for environmental damage as a way for deflecting blame from themselves for environmental issues which they cause. I do not think personal responsibility is a totally useless idea. If you do something bad, you should own up to it and make it up to the people who you hurt and not try to blame everyone else, like the single man who Dennis claims are committing violent crimes probably need to do, but it environmental factors play a big part in determining what someone is going to do or be capable of. I'm just a little surprised a conservative like Dennis Prager who is constantly talking about the importance of personal responsibility is trying to blame the social environment (with an emphasis on the women who cared for them) in which these men grew up for their violent crimes instead of blaming the men themselves. But at the same time I'm not surprized because conservatives are hypocritical like that and want believe that leftism is destroying society and they are usually very misogynistic.
@darthszarych5588
@darthszarych5588 Год назад
@@presentfuture7563 when they talk about personal responsibility, they mean for women as well as other minorities. They want to blame the socioeconomic problems that minorities are facing on a lack of hard work instead of something more systemic. Partly because they've never experienced a lot of those kinds of obstacles so they dont realize that they are there or how big they are and partly because they dont want to believe that systemic inequality is still a problem. Dennis reminds me of the old woman-driver jokes and the men who told them daily, even believed them, standards of the 50s/60s. Even with men at work "all day" and women doing the shopping and errands, men driving when both in the car, and most drivers on the roads being women, most people accepted that men were better drivers than women even though men had more accidents. Only when insurance companies, driven by financial factual reality and statistics, started releasing their compiled information to justify their rates, was it proven that women were better drivers than men and girls were far better drivers than boys, hence rates higher for young male drivers. Kinda like crime statistics being rough on young men. "Radical feminists" tossing these publicized statistics at stage comedians and ignorant strangers and misogynist uncles alike killed the woman-driver joke, thank goodness. But we still have men like Prager, clinging to their imagined superiority. And desperately trying to bring back the 1950s.

I'm pretty sure _young_ men commit more crimes, because of obvious biological and cultural reasons, not single men of any age. Youth and unmarried status are correlated, especially if you pick stats where "single" and "divorcee" are distinct categories. Marrying off these young bucks may or may not calm them down. or could just direct the violent tendencies into the home. On the other hand crime is actually correlated with poverty. If you marry two people who can barely survive they likely can't afford contraceptives and will have a child. feeding an extra mouth is more likely to drive them towards criminality. So marrying off poor young men is exactly the kind of strategy that may sound good on paper but tragic when implemented.

4:04 I do agree with this in a sense, male social isolation is a real thing, and "appropriate" conduct for boys is to be close with each other, but nowhere near as emotionally close as he is meant to be with his future wife. You'll find a lot of close male relationships from sports teams, which inadvertently encourages men getting together for an "us vs them" mentality. Even when they're working together, they're competing. Boys aren't allowed to be really close to other boys in the same way girls are because it's seen as feminine or weak and they'll be accused of homosexuality. It's a very real social issue that can be addressed first at home.

@dyslexius maximus Like so many right wing "Thinkers" Dennis cannot exist if he does not redefine all sorts of words, including "rational". So for him belief, even blind, contrafactual belief of the sort driving republican voters IS rational by definition, while anything opposing or contradicting that, including what he calls "the poisonous 1619 project" (which simply is a sobre, objective historical evaluation of slavery and its role in american society from 1619 to today) MUST be "irrational". Which is unsurprisingly a deeply unrational stance and not correlating to reality in the least.

It's interesting that Prager seems to think that kid-friendly drag performances are something new and that they are attempting to sexualise kids, when over here in the UK, pantomimes have been a Christmas time / winter season tradition for literally hundreds of years, where classic kids stories such as Peter Pan, Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty are acted out in colourful, tongue-in-cheek and over the top performances, with central characters being caricatures played by actors the opposite sex, such as the ubiquitous 'Widow Twanky' and 'Buttons', female and male characters being played by male and female actors respectively. This has been a family tradition for hundreds of years and it's never once been an issue of 'indoctrination' or 'sexualisation', it's only ever been about entertainment and story-telling.

Does Pragur not understand that violence stems from anger and anger is an emotion? and that perhaps if anger were not considered the only acceptable emotion for men, there might be less violence? I would agree that children are over sexualized, but not the way Pragur thinks. Young girls being sexualized for what they wear, people immediately assuming romantic/sexual connections between literal toddlers (fake "wedding" photoshoots for toddlers are creepy af), and other weird ways to impose adult intentions on literal children. dressing up in colorful makeup and big hair and fancy outfits? they've probably seen crazier getups in church (if their families are religious).

Men aren't really taught to control their emotions like he claims. They are taught to suppress them. The main exception being anger. Which is seen as more acceptable. Women in contrast, while in general are allowed to be more emotionally open over all, are often punished for displaying any level of anger. Obviously these are generalisations. Everyone has a deferent experience. But given the differences in social expectations it shouldn't be surprising that men tend to be more violent overall. Also I don't buy his notion that single men are inherently more violent than married men. Firstly, like all of this he gives no data to back up that claim. But he also completely ignores all the cases of domestic abuse that happen. Instead pretending that marriage just magically fixes everything.

Mark 12:28-34 "One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him 'Of all the commandments, which is the most important?' 'The most important one," answered Jesus, 'is this: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[ There is no commandment greater than these. 'Well said, teacher.' the man replied. 'You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions." “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ YOU don't understand what the Bible says about love. It doesn't mean wishing death upon your "enemies," it means you love them as if they were yourself. Love them the way you love god. He didn't stutter, and the thing most Christians don't understand about the Good Samaritan parable these days is that Samaritans were considered to be enemies of the people of Israel at the time. Your neighbor that you are supposed to love is also someone who you could consider to be your enemy.
