Over 50 million homes and businesses in the UK with either an oil or gas fired boiler in them. Network of thousands of miles of established below ground gas and oil pipes across the land. Impossible to just stop using this equipment and the infrastructure to it and make it redundant. A flamin ground source heat pump is not going to provide enough continual power especially during the winter months to generate power to 120 aprtments in a 30 storey block of flats in leeds, London, Birmingham or any other city is it! Most people, espeically pensioners who are struggling financially will tell you where to go if a new GREEN hot water and heating boiler which has not even been invented yet including the new pipework and labour/ installation from a qualified engineer could be installed in your home to the tune of 10K upwards! A cost effective transition for every home and small business aint going to happen for decades, lets be real.
