I'm a skinny woman 5' 2" 100 lbs with a pot belly :( or maybe it's bloat idk but how do I go on a fod map diet when I'm looking to gain mass and muscle? Everything I read is always how to lose weight but never how to gain.
go to a doctor, could be so many things. I was doing omad for 2 years, just bloating a little after eating and suddenly I discover I got diastasis recti, that took my to an abdominal hernia... don't waste time, always go to a doctor they will answer better than a youtube video.
I've been bloated my whole life. I've found a lot of stuff bloat me - some kind of coffees, dairy (even cheese) and a lot of carb foods. It's awful. Thanks for the explanation Thomas!
I have had tremendous success eating a low FODMAP diet. After having my gallbladder removed, I started having terrible pain in my stomach much lower than where my gallbladder was. It turns out the GB held up a portion of my intestines and it being gone caused a crimp to form, not letting gas out and causing tremendous inflammation. After dealing with 2 years of doctors only wanting to do procedures, scoping both directions, I finally got a gastro doctor who diagnosed the gas holdup in 5 minutes. Within days of eating low FODMAP, the pain went away for the first time in years. Just felt like I'd share for anyone else who may be having the same issue.
I have serious GERD and gastritis/esophagitis. Lowering fodmaps helped me too! Especially the onions and garlic. I used to put those in just about everything, I had no idea that they are one of the worst contributors to GERD and GI issues. Sometimes simply cooking the vegetable and fruits helps make them easier to digest also. Happy you found relief!
All of y’all saying “I have a flat stomach in the morning but after eating I look pregnant” sis, I wake up and look 4 months pregnant, I eat something and look 6 months pregnant. It’s all visceral fat. Extremely dangerous. And I’m a skinny person. So that makes me Skinny Fat :/

Adolfo: When you say you cannot exercise, is it because you are paralysed? Or are you limited to minor movements? I understand there are many reasons you may have for being unable to exercise, and i won't ask you to reveal private matters, I just ask bc if you're not paralysed, there are exercises that are modified that I do that work really well but don't use a lot of movement. I was also in a bad accident years ago that had left me with a broken neck and partial paralysis as well as TBI, but after modifying workouts to use minute movements, I've been able to increase strength and manage my weight. If you're interested, I can tell you some of the exercises I've essentially created for such a purpose. I am not licensed, I just have personal experience of not being able to move, and i have a passion for helping people. 😄✌
I knew I was bloated. My BMI says I’m 13% body fat. But I’ve been bloated literally 24/7 for the past like 4 months and it’s been both concerning and also debilitating. I’m seeing my doctor to try to get rid of it for summer. Imagine getting to 13% body fat and still looking like you’ve got a big belly. I’m so self conscious, and it sucks cuz tank tops are my favorite thing.

I'm 5'5" weigh 125 pounds and I am what you call fat skinny. It's only my belly that looks 3 months pregnant. I went to a plastic surgeon thinking a tummy tuck could make me look more symmetrical. He told me he couldn't make my belly flat because I had visceral fat under the muscle from a big pregnancy and pure genetics. His advice was to workout before considering the surgery 😢 I was shocked but appreciate his honesty. I since lost 5 pounds and can suck in my gut now when it wasn't engaged before. Don't fall trap to think you can't change your body. You absolutely can. ❤

I used to watch all your keto videos! I was on the keto diet for 6 months but I just couldn’t keep up with it, it really wasn’t maintainable for me.. I also had horrible side affects like the “keto rash..” I really loved what keto did for my anxiety though! I’m currently a vegan for 8 months now and feel so much better as a vegan! 🌱
C Bacon I was just curious on what you may suggest 😊 I don’t know if you’re aware that most meat on the market now a days is supplemented with B12, with this said I personally prefer to get my B12 especially straight through tablets. (I don’t know if you had a read of my original comment, but I did state that I was happily vegan, so in regards to your suggestion to eat meat. No thank you 🤣) I appreciate your concern though 🙏🏽

At 11.39 he says not to mix fats and carbs but there's this book Eat Well Live well that says not to trust anyone who says this. It says carbs burn and protein builds and to eat them together! It goes on to explain the exact opposite of what he just said. Anyone else notice this?
I have found that a good way of testing whether it is bloating or not is too simply go on a water fast for 2 to 3 days. If your stomach flattens significantly in this short period of time it is definitely bloating.
I’ve been combining fats and carbs for years. So that’s probably what I’ve been doing wrong. I’ll adjust and watch the results. Thanks for this information
My upper stomach always get distended. It sounds hallow when I pat on it, mostly in the upper region. I have IBS, no gallbladder, and mild diverticulitis. Sensitive to wheat and chocolate, which causes bloating. Can't have dairy. It causes stomach issues and purple under eye circles. Can't have B vitamins, muscle relaxants or caffeine - they cause severe anxiety or ocd. Fatigued all the time. I'm grouchy and impatient. Life sucks.
You know I was never, ever fat. My body type is what you'd call a mesomorph but when I was around 45 I realised that I had IBS and other issues on an intestinal level and it's difficult to get my stomach in shape because the rest of my body is not what is called fat. Now I'm 53 and I was able to get my bloated stomach to be even with my chest but it's not easy.
Vid helped me a lot. I'm in gym 3 to 4 times a week and eating good healthy meals, but I decided to take a week off for health reasons/mental reasons. And before I returned back and after a night out my stomach seemed big and I was worried it was fat and all my hard work from being previously overweight to someone skinny and pretty fit had gone down the drain, all for nothing. But thanks to the vid I now know its just bloated because of an intake from 2 day's and nights before. Thank you !
Hey Thomas I’ve started Keto one week ago. So far so good keeping the macros in check. I use a carb tracker app on my phone. Have you done a video on these? Is there any you recommend over others? If you haven’t yet can you make a vid about these? Also... I just realized my multivitamins and D3 (gummies) have carbs. Any info on daily vitamin supplements?
I’ve always done heavy manual work and cycled ( but also admittedly a heavy drinker ) - 32 now and got an office position exactly a year ago , stopped cycling , no manual labour and carried on drinking . It’s terrifying how quickly I have deteriorated- lept into action last month and started lifting weights and rowing and I also stopped drinking . It took 12 months to go from perfectly healthy to an aching , fatigued ,bloated , flabby and weak wreck. Don’t take for granted your fitness . I didn’t notice until I stayed in a hotel with a really brightly lit mirror and suddenly realised I had huge love handles and was growing tits - I have never been a gym bunny or particularly fussy over my appearance but what I saw looking back at me in the mirror that night was truly awful .

The most sure fire way to gain fat = a caloric surplus, people don't need to be afraid to enjoy their life and eat pizza sometimes. You can combine fats and carbs and still be lean
Butcher box is not cheaper than my local butcher. $12-16 per pound for beef?? Holy shit that's expensive!!! Most places are about $12-$14 per lbs. My butcher is $9.80-$11.50 per pound. Plus Butchbox is $129 for 8-11lbs of food. That a hell of a swing for a fixed price!!!

I gained 20kg of fluid overnight after losing 15kg over 32 days due to a still ongoing bug. My lymph nodes are swollen and burning hot. I drink a LOT of water due to Sjorgen's am never quenched. I also have a roll over my heart separate to my bloating lower down. That said I have severe chronic illness.

I fast, eat once sometimes twice a day, low carbs mostly Salmon, Chicken , Steak, Eggs and Rice/Potatoes if I do eat carbs... and I'm bloated all the time.
I have a slight disagreement about one statement but overall this was good content. Fat is not directly absorbed into fat cells as suggested here (when your not on keto). For example, If you eat lard, it is not in a direct form to be absorbed. It must go through a process. Just like carbs, proteins, fat and oils must be broken down. They must be broken down into usable forms of energy, that process of breaking down carbs, fats, or oils is the law of thermodynamics. Carbs burn at the lowest temperature, and therefore it is converted into usable forms of energy easier, which is why the body uses carbs first, if you are doing keto and have rid your body of carbs, the body has to raise its temperature, as it does proteins start to break down, then fats start to break down and will be converted to energy, the next is oils those burn at the highest temperature. It just so happens that the energy requirement to burn fats and oils is higher and your body is kicked into ketosis, simply because it takes more energy for the body to raise its temperature to burn or break down fat. Whatever energy your body does not use is converted to fat. In the case of burning fat there is no excess energy (the usable form is blood glucose) available for uptake into the cells. This is the reason why a ketogenic diet works.
I started dealing with bloat (out of nowhere) about a month and a half ago. I got sick (vomit/nausea) and doctor told me to fast until I improved. I took a bunch of laxatives and seemingly solved the issue in a week or two. I’ve been dealing with it again though as I’m back to my regular eating routine, which has never been an issue until recently. I thought it was excess fiber. No. Too much beef. Nope. My calorie intake is around 3k which is actually low for my size. I’m walking/jogging 8-10 miles a week and eating the foods I’ve eaten for years. Starting to worry something nefarious is behind it all. Doctor prescribed me Nexium which I started taking 2 days ago. Hopefully it helps. Else wise I’m at a loss. I’m so tired of feeling full and bloated by barely eating anything. 🤷🏼♂️
No if you bounce the calories correctly enough and exercise enough in a fasted state - For 15 months I've maintain ± 3lbs a weight 6 lbs above my ideal weight - I eat keto foods and 16:8 fast 4 days straight 2 meals a day no snacks the next 2 days I eat clean carbs and keto foods and go 3 meals a day no fasting and no snacking the last day of the week I eat and sleep on demand what ever i want- Works for me.
What if low carb is below 100g..because i am eating high fat but not keto yet however still maintaining a deficit..still storing as fat? Now I'm worried
@@reneeatigy-mccray6746 are you eating enough cabbage broccoli cauliflower radishes and beetroot to help flush the liver- I don't do a lot of leafy greens but I do eat a lot of that stuff because I'm not in ketosis as such I have to balance the increased fats with the sulfur and other stuff to help phase 1 and 2 liver detoxification.
I'm older over 70. I have lost 50 lbs this year, low carb. My stomach was hard and basketball round. Now part of the time its really soft but if I eat anything it puffs up hard. I did the pinch and didn't feel anything and the pat test and across my upper abdomen and the right side I sound like a drum. I will spend some time on this, thanks for the clue. Great video.

Hey Thomas. I would love for you to talk about MSM. I've started taking it and hope it will help to lower my C reactive protein, with the other changes I've made. I am in good shape but I used to get bloated after every meal. I added oats into my diet every day and due to the fibre content etc... I no longer get bloated after meals !
When you say don't fast every day, does that include even the shorter 13, 14, 16 IF fasting or the longer maybe 18, 20 hours such as the one meal a day fasting, please clarify, Thanks so much.
It might be problematic for those of you or anybody doing omad- I personally fast 4 days 16:8 2 meals and then switch to 3 meals on the next 3 days no fasting it works for me but I may switch things about
