Being a teen isn't easy, but it helps to read some comments and realize you're not the only one going through this phase... Stay positive and enjoy this hard yet very exciting time in your life!
I don't think teens are unprepared for adulthood, just scared... we've grown up being told that adulthood is absolute hell, while the earlier generations were excited to grow up.
And we for the most part were supervised by adults everywhere we went and did until at least 12, whereas previous gens were let to roam free at ages 5-7
Teens understand teens. Studies are more stressful than most imagine. Not all teens are bratty and selfish, and it's sad that all of them are portrayed that way because of a few who ruin the whole image.
But there is no guarantee adolescence today would be the same as adolescence 30 years ago. Times changes and that also changes the people (to a certain extent). Plus you gotta use a little more than just your personal experience in order to explain something on a greater scale
@@welboi5304 who let 10 yr kids on yt. Or 6 yr old kids on yt. They prolly just watch Minecraft channels and freak out when they curse like i used to do
Exactly! On one thing, you act like a responsible adult and take on more responsibilities and seriousness they say “loosen up! Enjoy being a kid while you still are!” and tell you to play these boring little kid games with your sibling all the time, like you aren’t busy enough already with college, chores, responsibilities, and all, instead of taking them over to their friend’s house to play with their same age friends but then when you act like you used to as a kid and be a bit silly, they tell you “Grow up! You’re not a kid anymore! You have responsibilities and have to be prepared for the world!” And this is not one parent saying one thing and the other parent saying the other thing. This is the same parent saying both these things. In the same day. You can’t give me two completely opposite directions and expect me to be able to follow them both! Pick one and stick with it!
They want you to mature and grow, but they also don't want you to overstep your boundaries. Like, build habits for living as an adult when you become an adult, but don't think you are one.
And when you want to tell them, as someone who's experienced, or currently experiencing such "treatment", they go "how ungrateful of you to criticise our parenting" or "how adorable, he's turning into a real teen" or some weird parenty phrase. I get that your sweet little child is growing up but come on.
Teachers: You need to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. Also teachers: You have three 1000 word essays, 2 projects and a test all due tomorrow. Have fun.
•WeirdChild • take home tests, you know, the tests that teachers give out for test grades because kids are failing the class so they send them home with a test grade to boost their grade, if they did it

I don’t know why adults assume that we have to be ready for their world when we’re getting ready for the future of our world which is different from theirs.

Adults: Teens are ruining their future and they seem dangerous. 14 year old me: Accidentally puts different socks on and watches Disney cartoons with my little sister after 8 hours of studying history. ...yeah I'm very dangerous
Maybe we are what if their just studying us and were all aliens? What if they couldn't reproduce properly so they used us aliens and transplanted them in to the adults. But shhh they might hear us and report what were saying!
F B I literally they associate our generation with the previous generation that’s in their 30’s 40’s now I believe and won’t give our generation the benefit of the doubt so if they see one trait that resembles that it categorizes our whole generation without giving us a chance to decide for ourselves

Then when we start to play, they say “Y R U RUNNIN?” and tell us off and how we have electronics these days unlike them and we should use them instead of playing. So wth are we supposed to do? sleep?
I really dislike the whole "teenagers are more depressed because cell phones exist" point that seems to come up whenever a middle aged white woman decides to pander to out of touch parents. Maybe teenagers are depressed because we're constantly bombarded with news sources magnifying every violent or evil act people commit. Maybe its because our only life experience comes from a school system that prioritizes national standards and funding over necessary life skills, making us unprepared and fearful towards the real world. Or maybe its because we communicate with peers who are depressed, and that makes us cynical. But no, its probably just those newfangled handheld computer boxes. Also, yeah I'm fully aware how edgy this sounds. We live in a society.
I don’t think they cause depression I think the fact that most 13/14/15 year old all grew up with phones I was watching RU-vid at 9 and now if I don’t watch RU-vid for a week I feel bored
My parents were the opposite lmao they are both Mexicanos, My Mom was like *if you have Baby Abuela Karen Will be Here to help you take care while you take your wife/girlfriend out somewhere.*

Drink water not alcohol if you live in commie fornia maybe lmfao not anywhere near that expensive in the rest of the USA where a McMansion can be had for 200-400k and an average home will cost 60-150k.
Frost agree. Houses in the city will always be more expensive, i live in chicago, ans moving into the suburbs the house is 250k (its cheap concidering how close it is to the city, and its a 3 story single family home) But it gets cheaper towards the suburbs, ive seen mini mansions go for 200k (were actually looking into moving further outward and getting the much larger house)
Why is technology suddenly bad? The older generations are the ones who created all this social media! They created the world that teens are trying to survive in today. Is it anything like 1950-1990? Obviously not. So the younger generations are going to act different. And yet somehow school, a rise in hormones, homework, social lives, family lives, becoming independent, taking on more responsibilities, being seen as a kid anyway, and a harder economy to live in is not the reason “teens” are depressed. Also, why refer to them/us as “teens”? Its like we are some kind of animal experiment. Here we see a female teen, roll her eyes to convey “angst” a trait only teens have. She then struts away, in such a way to show dominance. Scientists still don’t understand the teen. (Now replace teen with an animal)

@@shannonmcglynn8153 Still apart of RU-vid. The video is the cause of you writing a comment. Also the comments are on the video so it's apart of the video in its own way.
Why is it that every single time there is a new generation, the adults criticize everything about it, poke and prod, demean and dehumanize, say that "they're not prepared for life," then are surprised when they turn out absolutely fine?
Ryn Thomas Exactly, but it’s mostly the generation (or even 2 generations) before the newest one that always criticize the new one, and then they just downpour criticism and blame the new things like tech for all of our problems. Then they are like “oh when I was your age I went outside and played, but all you do today is just sit around the house all day on that phone”, but then expect us to be okay with it. Also they should take note that the generations after us will have way better things, and then they definitely won’t be able to catch up, so there’s really no point for them to be getting all salty, cause the future generations will have better stuff and technology than we do now in 2018.
Journey awaits as he said social media and technology does make teenagers more complicated because from a young age they learn about culture, economics and they start to develop own opinions and individual mentality at a younger age so most of problems is that they start thinking as adults early on (ps:this does not mean they’re matture in any way, I know a lot of immature and idiotic adults) but because of this the majority depends on the media or let’s the media think for them, and also some teenagers get used to thinking as adults but not living as adults so when the time comes to be adults they are not mentally independent to start their lives alone or by working hard. So is not just technology that creates these mental issues, because is just a tool that makes teenagers inform themselves from their own sources instead of trusting others anymore, because this can bring conflict people tend to just blame completely technology
I dont understand why some people think our unhappiness is caused by the internet. Its becasue of the school hours, having to work, and still trying to make time for friends and socialization. Not to mention trying to figure out our entire future before we even turn fifteen
Julia Mae I didn’t like how high school was just basically we need to get you ready for college. I’m not going to college. Why did I have to waist those four years?
Adults: why are so many teens becoming depressed and drinking alchohol at times to cover up their negative thoughts? Also adults: yo lets get drunk every weekend in our own home
Katelyn 7047 No it’s not the same result, even though my 14 years old brain can get drunk just like an adult, my brain is still in development. This means that if I consumed in large quantity and on a daily basis, alcohol or any other drugs, they can easily alter my brain a lot more than an adult and I’m more prone to develop mental health problem including mood swings, depression (which is ironic because apparently “depressed“ kids my age use that to “cover up their negative thoughts“), Parkinson, schizophrenia, alcoholism, drug abuse (other than alcohol) and many more. Don’t even get me started on the retarding and learning difficulty effect it has also. This is why there is regulations about drugs concerning children and teenagers in almost every country. Im not saying adults can not develop any of those problems but there is a lot of difference between an adult drinking and a children/teen drinking in the end for the mental. People my ages should get help with their depression and personal issues before they get worst with drinking. That’s why we need more prevention and a less stigmatized society concerning mental health. Have a good day.
skyrimleadera52 This is perhaps true but most parents also teach their kids (such as my dad) to drink moderately to keep a healthy relation with alcohol consumption. I do feel bad though about kids with alcoholic parents being showed the darker side of non-moderate drinking. Most of them are not aware of the danger it can cause if you abuse it in the long-term for whatever reason.

Unpopular opinion: People are more depressed because they say they are and don't understand what depression is and instead think it's a cool and quirky personality trait and at this point it is so engrained in our culture and people will say they're depressed as if it's a normal causual thing.
I love how they blame phones on mental health issues. It’s not like the past gens left this world a forking mess that we will likely have to attempt to clean up.
Science : teenagers should have 7/8 hours of sleep School : 4 hours take or leave it Problem : students falling asleep in class Solution : School:sells coffee in vending machines Science : SMH🤦♀️🤦♀️
You're stressed? It's that phone again. You're depressed? It's that phone again. Your will to live is gone and everything everyone wants from you is too high of expectations for you, and you can't fulfill them, so you just hide away with your phone and laugh at memes all day to hide your pain and everyday is meaningless and you know nobody loves you, and in 100 years, everyone will forget about you? It's that phone again.
how about actually putting the phone down and doing something else? because your mom can be right. not doing anything but being on the phone does get boring and depressing and theres that small moment you realize you have no friends. oh its that phone again
oraah but when we do put our phones down guess what we still have depressed introverted teens who can barely and truly express themselves because nobody actually taught them how because guess what their parents still has a phone or computer or tv that they’re latched to. It’s not just teens hooked on technology it’s adults to but adults hate to openly ridicule other adults so they only talk about children who they feel can’t do or say anything back
actually im not much on my phone, im always on pc. its to keep myself entertained because else depression catches up and just ruins everything. You're on your phone for 2 reasons 1: youve got social media and want to compete with your friends or chat via there, and you can't stop(extroverts mostly) 2: because youve got nothing else to do to prevent your mind from questioning your excistence and youre trying to keep yourself happy(mostly introverts) now, there are more reasons like work etc. but teens mostly are on if for either these 2 reasons
