Thanks so much for all this advice. I'm new to Bandcamp, and it's very helpful. My album release is in a couple of weeks (so too late for editorial submission, oh well maybe next time). Question: do I NEED the Artist App for mobile? I tend to do everything on my laptop. Is there anything the mobile app does that the web interface doesn't?
The big one for me - DO NOT OVERCHARGE FOR YOUR ALBUM! SERIOUSLY! Yes, you might think that your digital album is worth 15USD and you probably want to try and recoup your costs, but such a high price is going to have me moving on to the next album before you can say 'Jack Robinson'! Remember, your music is competing against THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of similar albums from both 'established' underground artists on actual record labels and completely independent artists. You don't have to go for NYP but you can't price yourself out of such a crowded market.
Thanks for posting this. You mentioned EPs . It was my understanding that one had to post at least 10 songs (an album). Is that wrong ? please advise. Many thanks.
@@OtherRecordLabels Oh, I see that now... Wish I'd realised it was on purpose sooner because I tried it out anyway, and lost a lot of fans because of it, and had to go to court because of one instance. I'll pay more attention in future. Thanks for all your other great advice and insights.
@@OtherRecordLabels Wow, this explains a lot. I have nothing but singles on my site, and I get nothing. I also learned a few other things from this video, like I need to replace the cover art that says "Follow on Spotify."🤣
I liked the platform until they also started to get political.... No you have all creative freedom you want and can be neutral, left or as far left as you like, but as soon as you are politically on the right they kick you from the platform... No Thanks.
