Bandcamp is the best and qualitatively most interesting platform for serious musicians that has ever existed. I very much hope that Bandcamp succeeds in maintaining its authenticity and its very special quality in times of plagiarism (AI and co.).
Some artists I like are NOT releasing CDs- I want to buy, ie OWN their music! Our 2021 car has no CD player! My partner tells me, "nobody buys CDs anymore"- so, how do I download for a laptop? ( I LOVE MY BOSE CD player!) Some artists say making a CD ie a "record" is very $$$$$- studio time, engineers etc- I get it but I haven't a clue what to do! Help. Older but like brandy, getting better! Help. Thanks. Namaste from Canada
As a DIY musician, It is simply too expensive for me to release an album on vinyl (which is what I am about to do) AND have 150 copies of CDs pressed as well. Vinyl is back and the younger generation don't care/know about CDs - I still do! My advice would be to download the songs you want from Apple, Amazon etc to your smartphone then plug the phone via a lead into the AUX input in your car - I'm sure it has one. Recently I rented a car and that had NO RADIO never mind CDplayer!
Notice how you say "for now", it's the thing i'm worried about Epics acquisition of Bandcamp that they make changes to the platform removing features that make it great for both artists and fans.
That’s fair, Barry! I feel the same way. But I think it’s only fair to judge them on what they’re doing or what they’ve done, instead of what they might do… Until then, I don’t have many complaints.
@@OtherRecordLabels I am holding judgement for now. I haven't jumped ship like alot of others as I feel that is a knee jerk reaction when we don't know what will come next just yet.

Great video. Q; Is there a criteria for an independent artist to sign up for bandcamp (i.e. how many subscribers/ followers should they have on other platforms, how long should they be an established artist (6 months, 1 year+)? When should an independent artist sign up for Bandcamp for Artists- How many singles/ albums should they have before they sign up? Should Independent artists that produce instrumental music (i.e. lofi, chillhop, trap, ambient, scoundscape) sign up for Bandcamp?
If I were to purchase music on Bandcamp and use it for my channel am I still at the same risk of a copyright strike? I'm just searching for alternative ways to find groovy music that's different from the epidemic sound and all that similar sounding stuff. Any help is appreciated!!
Yes you most likely would be at risk, and technically you wouldn't be able to do that legally without the artist or label's permission. I have heard that RU-vid is getting very strict with channels that use music without permission. Hopefully you can find ways for artists to authorize you to use their music, and then can "whitelist" your channel so that you don't receive a copyright strike!
I'm a musician. How do I create my own monetized music streaming app for my music? I already made a free media player app with AppsGeyser. There is no point paying music distributors to place my music on streaming services, only to get back a fraction of a penny per stream. I'd rather stream my music on my own app for pennies. No middle men stealing from me. Anyone knows how, please message me.
