Sixers fan here. Max is 100% correct on this. To know why the Process took place, you have to know where the Sixers were. 2012, the year before Hinkie took over, their best players were Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner, Thad Young, and Spencer Hawes. How are you going to win with that? Solid to Mediocre players with contracts that hindered the team.

A little back story on Hinkie and the Sixers. Sixers mgt met with Hinkie in the summer of 2012 for a gm role. His plan (trade for Harden and build around him) scared them off. Remember they were just coming off a game 7 loss in the semis against the Celtics and mgt wanted to trade for a player that grabbed headlines. Hinkie went back to Houston and they traded for Harden. Sixers traded away all of their assets (iggy, Lou will, and 2 1st rd picks) for Bynum and Jason Richardson. Bynum never played for them and Richardson played like 30 games in 2 seasons. The following year after seeing how great harden panned out in houston, the sixers mgt begged Hinkie to take the reigns of the franchise but by then he had nothing to work with and decided tanking would be the best option at that time. While tanking, he got back all the lost picks and drafted a bunch of prospects but never got to see his plan through. The one blunder he made was drafting noel and mcw over giannis but who really knew what giannis would become and noel was regarded the best prospect in the draft. In 2015, Hinkie wanted to grab Porzingis over Okafor but mgt interfered bc again they cared about headlines and okafor was a national champion and player of the year. Imagine where the sixers would be if mgt never interfered. Or where the thunder would be. They would've probably gotten Lou will and iggy for Harden. Maybe KD would've stay. Maybe we wouldn't have had the dynasty in GS.

When Stephen A signed that contract with EPSN.. he went from coming on air and having an actual opinion on sports, teams, and their performance.. To only being on camera to be mad and say his catalog of catch phrases including, but not limited to: “That’s blasphemous!!!” “How dare you!!” “No disrespect whatsoever” And everyone’s favorite “I have tremendous respect for that brother we’ve known each other for over 20 years..”
