Arenado Couldn't Have Picked A Worse Time For An Error, Cardinals Crushed By Reds

Graceffo looks like a keeper to me. May be to early to tell but his stuff looked really good. He is capable of 96+ but he chose to actually pitch and use his breaking stuff and mix up his pitches. He didn’t finish a few of his pitches but that might have been due to being hyped up for his first appearance. I think his control will improve now that he is past his first appearance. Our big boppers are a wash at best when you consider their K rate. We get guys on base and in scoring positions and then go for the fences and end up with nothing. Gotta put the ball in play. I really don’t think we have the management to make a sustainable run. We our lucky to have won the 2nd game of this series. Hopefully we end up splitting but that isn’t very comforting to me against the Reds. Seems Nado is not at all happy with his situation. The guy came here thinking that management was going to go all in and he was going to get to the World Series. I think he would be happy if they traded him. Could be wrong but just seems that way to me. Gorman isn’t the answer at 2nd. Yesterday a medium velo ground ball got past him to his right that could have been caught but his first step (reaction) was to his left. His K rate is terrible. Not what I was hoping for cause I really like him.

This is not the first time that Arenado has literally dropped the ball in crucial situations, especially while Sonny is pitching. I am not too happy about Arenado's play defensively.

I think he's hurt. He've got a lot of hit by pitch from the beginning of the season. I pray for him to be back in good health asap. He's the best 3B ever. I respect him.

The Cardinals actually should have swept the Reds and at worst should be taking 3 out of 4. Graceffo should be put in the starting rotation. Sem should be brought up as well. The Cardinals have absolutely NOTHING to lose by doing this. Sending Graceffo down makes absolutely no sense after what he did. It's time for the Cardinals to bring up their young pitchers and do more than just give them a few innings. I wish that we had several good pitching coaches to develop these young pitchers. Perhaps a possible coach is an older pitcher in the current rotation. They need new blood.

I also agree with them not trading a player like Lynn or Arenado, they aren't performing the best here and there but cards as an org tends to stand by their players and hope they can perform better and possibly make decisions in the off season.

I'm curious to know what the plan is for using Edman now that Siani has emerged as a solid everyday option in CF? Back to a utility role or starting CF? Maybe he gets all of the starts at 2nd against LHP? Maybe it really doesn't matter until his return is certain. IDK...

After a very productive 6 week period, where the Cardinals definitely overachieved, the last 7 games represent what the statisticians refer to as “regression to normal”. There performance over the last week is a far better indicator of the talent on this team than the previous 6 weeks.

I am a cardinals fan but as for talking trades, or other teams in general as examples I like watching teams Yanks and Phillies cause they're usually actually good, and I like keeping tabs on teams like Astros or Mets because they've had an interesting season and have a few strong players that if they know they aren't going to make it who knows what they'll do at the trade deadline.

This team in a nutshell, consistently inconsistent. This team has too many holes and can't seem to figure out how to be fundamentally sound.

Goldschmidt sure can hit with nobody on!

The pitching is gassed and needs reinforcements. I'm glad they have started shuttling the prospects up, but they need to trade for the best pitching available. This means they have to trade some players. Mo has shown no interest in trading them. Rooker from the A's is available if offense is needed. Pitching of Gray's quality is a must. Both White Sox starters are better than what we have. Mozaliak has failed to take Goldschmidt and Arenado to the World Series. If stud pitching is available from teams that would be acceptable to them, we have players to replace them. Won't happen, and due to "professional differences," teams like the Padres will leave us behind. The future is Baker, Saggese, Prieto, the past is Carpenter, Crawford, Goldschmidt. Mozaliak best get a couple of pitchers, a starter and reliever at least, or we will not be a factor in the playoffs.Learn from the Colby Rasmus trade. "Staying the course" will give us a 00.5% chance of success in the playoffs.

Why is Nolan Gorman not in Memphis?

Arenado’s error changed the whole complexion of the game. If he handles it cleanly for the double play, Gray and the Cardinals are out of the inning still trailing only 2-1. Unfortunately, this kind of play, along with his diminished offensive production and lack of hustle running out ground balls have become typical. Maybe it is time, or even past time for him to play for some other team.

Once again, I will say the cards must get more offense if they want to get a wild card slot. Right now offense is not even average. How long do the cards keep putting Gorman out there? as a long time fan, I just am not excited about this team. Way to many questions.

Not a great start by Sonny. Didn't come through with the bats enough. I'm worried about half of our offense on a daily basis. However at least it's not as bad the first six weeks...yet Hopefully we're not heading back that direction.

Honestly, at this point. Let’s just trade Arenado/Goldschmidt for a couple of back in below average relievers. We can eat about 50% of the contract. Let’s just move on for the love of God!
