I was always amazed how Aretha allowed her superior gift to override any vanity. She was oblivious to the "physical" norms of stardom. She knew she was a SUPERIOR Star regardless of her weight AND!! never allowed its fluctuations to impact the security of her stage presence. You havta' realize this was during the time of Karen Carpenter - a pitch perfect talent who starved herself to death. Aretha didn't give a hoot! She reigned at so many different dress sizes and always looked magnificent! She was just as bold in life as she was with that voice! She's an inspiration!!

I wish that Aretha and Melvin Williams had done more work together. They do this call and response singing method so well. Her father passed on all those traditional Church singing methods to her. It wonderful! She left us with so much. Rest in Power, Queen!!!

Sleep on our beautiful Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin 😢, she died on my late grandmother's birthday in August sad day that was for the world 😢💔🌹. She finally has her wings, white robe and 👑🎹🎤🌹. Amen. I have been a fan of hers for years, my mom has all types of music by her!!!! On records, tapes and CD's 😉. " Amazing Grace" is one of my mom's favorite songs by the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Tam Jones my granny us to do the same thing.. but she would get on her piano and play bout two hours before we leave for church if I stayed over there and my mom would do the same thing on Sunday and have to lead a sing that morning what a wonderful time... and memories as a child

When you take the time to listen to all the videos that Aretha has made and all the collaboration she's made and all the different places she appeared I don't know how anyone is going to stand on that stage to represent her that voice and that Deliverance was God sent and we are truly in life will miss her

When you see her in 2015 and then see her last pictures when she was terminal, it's quite sad to see how far she had fallen. I got a chance to see her at her last concert in Ravinia last year. She had lost the weight, half her size, but she was strong in voice. Played the piano. Was on stage for 1-1/2 hrs. It seemed that she had rebounded, but that Cancer, man, it's hard to fight.
I know you love and respect Aretha but please don't say fallen, it wasn't her fault she was sick with that horrible disease known as cancer. She didn't fall she just lost that battle and gain her wings instead.

I love this song. but my personal favorite is when she sings with bishop Paul Morton. they gave a stirring performance that night. if you were not moved all I can say is Lord have mercy.
She is the best . Someone else is coming, however she was the queen at day one in my opinion. And Vanessa bell armstrong. And Jennifer holliday of course. My two favorite ladies.
