I know her type, I went church with ladies like this....Aretha is one of those people who is not going to take ANY form of shade/jabs/insults/or disrespect from ANYONE....A N D ...is not afraid to call you out/give you a somewhat nice nasty back when you try it! My grandparents are somewhat like this as well....living through the Civil Rights Era you had to know how to defend yourself physically and mentally.
I see a lot of comments regarding her attitude.. People like Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight and Patti La Belle and Dionne Warwick and Tina Turner.Actually have a right to be a little stern.. They have worked their way to where they are now and back then wasn’t an easy time for any of them.. Hell there are a few young people that have attitudes that have no reason to be
Aretha had a hard road getting to where she landed. People buy into this fairy tale that life was charmed for her, but she is a perfectionist. She controls where she is gifted and that is her power amidst an early life of tragedy, abandonment, et al.
You said that well. People don't understand they overcame challenges in a doggy dog industry and had to fight racism. They performed in places were they couldn't use the front door and was paid little because their managers took advantage of them.
I love how when they bring up her weight and her age she replies with humor, wit and class. She must have heard those comments a thousand times but still remains dignified. A true lady. R.I.P Ms Franklin, Queen of soul.
Aretha Franklin was just a beautiful gift from God. He knew she would bring us joy through song, and He knew she would expand the gift 100 fold. She was magnificent!
Sydney Wickliffe Joy really pissed me off during this interview. She did multiple things such as that which made me want to say, "Joy just shut up. You're looking like an idiot"
I think that was rude and disrespectful for her to say that she was skinny then😣You DON'T Talk Like That To The QUEEN OF SOUL💝💝💝💝 that was awesome she was still willing to learn classical piano that's very inspiring and encouraging💝💝💝💝
whew Barbara and her passive aggressive tone. You're going to do classical?! Whew, the shade of that lady makes my shoulders tight. One thing, outside of music, that I've always enjoyed about Aretha is her lightning, rapid-fire wit and one liners. She was/still is a class of her own. Untouchable and otherworldly.
Barbara also said I am glad you came dressed up for us,could have left that out too maybe the ladies was so excited to be in her precence that the questions came out before they could think on how it came out.
God I respect her for having 4 people practically talking at once to her. Aretha is the queen of soul show some boundaries and RESPECT. Aretha has grace.
The Queen has left her earthly body. Aretha Louise Franklin is my favorite artist of all times. Her voice is like no other. I had three (3) things on my bucket list and one of them was to see the Queen in concert. I got to see her at Chastain Park, Atlanta, GA and then again when she performed at President Obama's inauguration. Thank you for your gift, I will surely miss you 😘😭 #QueenofSoul #QueenofRock&Roll. #BowDown
I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves her songs, how often do you like to listening to her songs. She remains the Queen of souls a great artist, with lovely voice. RIP Legend.
I have seen lots of interviews of this lady these few days and her sweet quiet humility comes out in all of them. She is eloquent and does not back down on any question.Sweet lady.
I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves her songs, how often do you like to listening to her songs. She remains the Queen of souls a great artist, with lovely voice. RIP Legend.
Big is beautiful on some folks retha loves to eat and thats okay her real fans love her no matter her weight she just aretha to me and thats ms.aretha if your raised properly.eating make her happy then im happy for her.
TRUTH. I really understood her after watching *(Tv 5 part movie)ARETHA: GENIUS" W Cynthia Erivio....earlier this year... Excellent. It made me Appreciate & Love Ms. FRANKLIN more.
This is the perfect example why people don't like talk shows with multiple co-hosts. They keep cutting Aretha Franklin off or talking over her. Give her the opportunity to answer the damn question!
If I hear one more thing about her “attitude”. I just don’t think people are used to a blunt, intelligent, intellectual, purposeful, tenacious woman. If you go to a black church or a black family gathering, you will find a hundred auntie Rees. This woman grew up tough, strong and determined, and she’s carried that with her. Y’all gotta understand how early she got in a business as a black woman who at times might’ve been seen as vulnerable. They didn’t depend on anyone. They worked very hard, despite being black and female to get in to certain industries that otherwise would sleep on them. Not all of these queens in music are bitter or nasty like people say they are. They just know what they want, what they mean and how they want it. Give auntie her respect. I love black women, and we have to normalize women having a mind of their own and knowing what they want and stop claiming they have attitudes when they just wanted be treated just as well as the next person. It’s a lot of artists and celebrities in general y’all put on a pedestal that really have attitudes and a “difficult to work with” reputation. Do y’all expect a queen to let people say whatever or take little? Would you do that? I think Aretha knew her value.
I love the audacity of so many people to bring up years, saying “that was so long ago” and “I saw you in concert when I was 14”, but Aretha ALWAYS mentions it! “What are you, about 16? Okay…”
I really miss Ms. Aretha Franklin. My father the late Mr. Charles Yates purchased her records when I was a little girl & a teenager. I just love her. Now i have most of her recordings on my IPOD Touch & MP3'S. My lady of "Queen Of Soul"! I cried when she passed away. I will always be a fan & she was so Beautiful!! Beautiful lady!! My condolences to the family. I will always be a fan.
awwwe 1967, I was only 9 years old at that time.... but I was old enough to love her for her angelic voice and powerful messages to ALL WOMEN!!! Rest In Power Queen of Soul~~~
Aretha, was so down to earth! She loved her family and close friends! She enjoyed this interview and it was amazing to see her on this episode of The View! What a wonderful interview! Thanks for the memory! May Aretha R.I.P. 🎶🎹🎶😢
The Queen continues to live in our hearts in July 1, 2020. Ms. Aretha Franklin always kept it real, transparent! This lady corrected facts, loved her tenacity, relentlessness. Strong courage lady, fearless woman, an example, always took a leap of #FAITH. Natural woman was J. Wexler, the great Carole King! Love you forever!♥️🙏♥️♥️🙏
Yes i remember in an interview with Diana Ross asking her is that her real hair, i mean it came out of nowhere, i thought that it was not Necessary to go there, had nothing to do with the interview, i think she done that for ratings, to me very poor taste of Barbara.
Yes, it's not easy to tell if this was a brain fart or a reference to the video performance. Can't imagine that Aretha could ever forget when Natural Woman was released. Too historical a song to forget that.
Each artist 👨🎤 swings on a different beat Aretha an activist who extended the worlds of musical genres. GREAT INTERVIEW. Women driven to excellence write on right on as music trends. BLAZING FORWARD
I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves her songs, how often do you like to listening to her songs. She remains the Queen of souls a great artist, with lovely voice. RIP Legend.
Love ,love, you Queen Diva Aretha ,you are the lady with the voice of an 👼, may you R I P. With our Father God,the El Elyon of all Creation forever. pastorhelen7@gmail.com
I cried so hard watching her funeral yesterday... Like I lost a family member. I debated on watching it, I shouldn't have...😭😭😭😭😭 So I'll be watching RU-vid a lot, to remember and reminiscence about My Queen....
Aretha was amazing, incredible, phenomenal. There are not enough words to describe her. Imagine she was already a fantastic pianist and ,yet, she took classical piano lessons! Who does that? A woman of her expansive talent ? just amazing. An indivdual to be admired, for sure. RIP, Aretha.
Not to mention her musical genius and accolades. She's been married a couple times, bore children to be grown adults. At the same time maintaining her dignity!! The interview was very condescending. All she ask for is a lil respect. She could feel and see right through ALL of them. A Real American Woman ♥️🌷💋
