Having difficulty following. Are your knees bent or softened? It's difficult for me to tell at times.

Generally the degree that I tend to bend my knees is determined by how much I need to bend to maintain the same relative height with my leader! I try to never lock my knees, and usually have one leg relatively straight and one bent at any given time. It is more rare that I would have both knees bent at one time. Hope thus helps!
