Jenna I REALLYYYYYY want her next album to have WAYYYYYYY more RnB influence now. She’s at that stage now where she can do what she wants & it’ll sell. Her soul sisters & brothers who support her music NEED this now. She has an amazing RnB voice 💙
Dont know if yall know this but Them Changes was one of Mac Miller’s favourite song by Thundercat. Thundercat himself said it during his live performance of this song at the celebration if life for Mac Miller 💔
phar0ahad3 have you ever heard of the idea of being under a contract and having to live up to a managers expectations? like that’s literally what all those disney movies was tryna show that the game ain’t fair💀💀 like i thought we been knowing this
Her voice is developing so beautifully and I’m so proud of her! She’s growing as an artist and vocalist and it’s been amazing to see. I wish she’d make an acoustic album because she’s insane.
she always had r&b influences on all of her albums, sweetener is the most r&b she's ever done on one album. but i agree she needs to develop into a full r&b artist rather than staying a pop singer
@@GLMMSC I agree but the main thing atm is that she's a big name on a big label that has the ability and star power to bring in huge numbers, in terms of ppl and sales. Because of that unfortunately I think her bosses will be keen to keep her where the money is, pop with rap/r&b etc. There's so many lanes and duets she could pursue on the r&b side though, Ro James, Jorja Smith, Kyle Dion, SZA etc etc.
@@zkrhmn i like the way you think with those collabs & i think you're right. she said it herself that her last 2 albums (which were more pop) didn't really feel like her. her fave songs out of them are all the ones w/ r&b vibes bc she grew up with those sounds & loves to make more r&b music & when she's performing those pop songs she feels rather empty instead of really feeling the song & that's why sweetener is her most personal project so far. i hope we'll eventually be able to listen to a full r&b album by her in the future after her label & herself are confident enough to record & release it.
i remember she played this song on a instagram story before sweetener was released & everyone went crazy thinking it was a new snippet of the new album lmaooooo
Lyrics: [Verse 1] Nobody move, there's blood on the floor And I can't find my heart Where did it go? Did I leave it in the cold? So please give it back, cause it's not yours to take It must've fell when I lost my mind Deep in the cut, drowning in a pain Somebody help cause I can't find my way Nobody move, nobody move [Interlude] [Verse 2] Somebody tell me how I'm supposed to feel When I'm sitting here knowing this ain't real (ain't real) I've been traveling so long, I don't think I can hold on Where were you when I needed you the most? Why in the hell would I give my heart to you? Just to watch you throw it in the trash Now I'm sitting here with a black hole in my chest A heartless, broken mess
Today has been a series of sad, sad coincidences. I listened to Mac Miller's NPR Tiny Music Desk set earlier today, and Thundercat was one of his featured artists. They sounded so good it reminded me how much I liked Thundercat's song Them Changes so I went back to listen to it again. A couple of hours later I find that Mac has passed and then this video pops up on my recommendations. Sung so beautifully by Ari. Who knows, maybe Mac introduced her to his music.......RIP Mac x
Mac didn't introduce me, and I know Thundercat....I fail to see how that would be the only possibility, lol. Is she some poor sheep that can't do things by herself? ;).
respect to her for choosing this song. gotta admit, wasn't as good as original. its not a song for her voice. And yes balsy. her manager wouldn't have alowed this at one of her live shows
No disrespect but it's in no way ballsy for someone with such a wide vocal range to cover a song by someone with a more limited one. It's quite the opposite.
Jamil Thats not the reason its ballsy. It's is because she is signed to a large label and she is required to maintain a certain persona for her fans. If a die hard Ariana fan payed to go and see her, they expect to see her perform the music they want to here. I doubt they would appreciate this as much. I wouldn't be surprised if she received push back from her managers when she asked to perform this song. after all they are the ones in charge of her.
@Junya I see that lmfao, seemed like they had to have the keyboardist play the part. @Max Except it's exactly the opposite. When you're such a big artist, you have so much more room to work with than other artists. I'm pretty sure these performances are within a closed studio so it's not like she was doing anything on her fan's dollar. I'm also pretty sure these BBC performances are supposed to all be covers as all the performances I've seen here have been covers (gambino, tame impala, etc). It's also nobody's place to say how much control she has over her own career, especially to say anyone is "in charge of her". There's no such thing as push back from managers as they MANAGE, they don't dictate. They can disagree with something you want to do but they're not her parents and she's not on nickelodeon anymore. It's commendable for her to perform a song by Thundercat, that's for certain, but to call it ballsy is a serious stretch. She's a grown ass adult that can make her own decisions. Shit, she can Britney Spears her way out of her position if she really wanted to. Ballsy would be her performing a Luther Vandross song or something else that's actually outside of her comfort zone.
I swear, she's a great singer and artist. She just has terrible publicity and corporate writing, as well as a super toxic fan base (who doesn't these days?) Wish her talent was on the forefront rather than anything else.
I ain't even mad about it. God Arianators will tear anyone to strips for saying anything at all, they're honestly enough to make me ashamed to say I am one.
She releases an album every two years (excluding Yours Truly), a good few of the songs from that album top the charts for weeks upon end, then spends the following year touring and releasing singles which also keep her relevancy as the main focus of the music industry. This has been going on since Yours Truly. In what sense has every year not her year?
It's not a competition. It's CREATION. Her own creation of his creation. You can't knock her for it, I don't even like pop music... but she was ON it. She kept the feeling of the song alive. No doubt.
Plus, after listening to thundercats version like a thousand times, but still loving the song, this is a whole new way to indulge. Open your minds sisters and brothers! Word to the mother! Nevermind the color
A lot of these artists don’t even like pop. The labels force them to do it because that is what sales. A real vocalist like her is listening to people form the 70s and 80s. Facts. Miley Cyrus would rather be a rock star then a pop singer.
mine too! she did a great job. if only she had thundercat playing for her. because he's the only person that I've heard that really plays the bass the way he does.
one of the best covers i’ve ever seen. i love this song and i love how beautifully Ariana sings it. it’s nice to see a huge artist like her singing one of Thundercat’s songs! two amazing musicians. :))
The voice of a goddess! I’v said this back when she was covering Rihanna’s love the way lie year’s ago when no one knew her and imma tell y’all again for the rest of my life! She is the princess of vocals and will be the queen! Love yah ariiii!
Wow she sounds absolutely amazing with the r&b and jazz production. Hopefully this opens the floodgates for her and Thundercat to do some collaboration or at least direct some of the instrumentals
Damn I legit got tears from listening to her singing this, her voice fits every song😯😯😯. I love when she sings with so many soul runs meaning she does the Stevie wonder method which gives the cover so much style to it🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I don't usually like Ariana's voice, but it fits so well in this song (also, the fact that I love this song helps a lot). The instrumentals for this cover are also so greattt
Thundercat said this was one of mac millers favorite songs. he would stand on the side stage during his shows and go nuts during this one specifically. no wonder ariana thought to cover it
This the kind of music girl should have been releasing this whole time! Her voice is tailored for R&B, not that generic, cookie-cutter pop that blends her in with everyone else.
The band makes it bigger than big: great solid and energic funk jazz fills (key player and drummer are a world apart). They’re so good they even make her singing at the top.
Its sad how many limits they put on Ariana Grande's voice in alot of her pop music. Her voice is killer, and it sounds especially good when she annunciates
