I bought this exact mower yesterday and I am nothing but happy with it. Not really a big fan of the orange color, but I didn’t really buy it based on looks I wanted a good solid reliable lawnmower that will get the job done and last and this particular model it’s hard to find anything bad out about it through all the reviews. I tackled the house next-door that has been abandoned for more than 20 years the grass was over knee-high and he plowed right through it and I did not even hear the engine so much as twitch. This is just a fantastic lawnmower and if there’s anybody debating on whether or not to get one of these do yourself a favor run don’t walk and buy one
The orange color is beautiful it's not bright or too dark they did great with the pigment! You'll learn to love it lol you have no choice until you get rid of it any how 🤣
I just bought this mower yesterday. I agree with everything that you said. I live in Wisconsin and much to my surprise it was made right here in Wisconsin. On my first try I used it for 2.5 hours nonstop. I have never used a Zero Turn before and it took a little getting used to. I am a little bigger than you are and the only thing that I did not like is that my legs got sore at the bottom of the control arms. I will have to make a guard or a pad. My yard is bumpy, so full speed is a bit much. It is nice that I can go faster on the smooth areas. I thought it was great that the motor kept up no matter if the grass was thick or thin, fast or slow. It even done well on a small hill that I have. I think that you done a nice production on your video and a nice job on your presentation. 😀😀😀😀😀😀😎
@@Tolohtony thanks for your fast reply! Can I ask how much you paid? Have not found it locally but see it on some websites for $2000 and wondering if they are scams.
Getting ready to close on a home with 3.5 acres & im currently researching zero turns. Your comment about this one is making me come closer to a decision lol
Spot on this is a great residential mower….much better than a stamped deck two years mower….this mower will last for years to come if using for your home of 1/2 acre to 1 and 1/2 acres….Highly suggested the advise of purchasing from a dealer…3year warranty on this machine…for 3k it is a great mower…
The amount of information in his videos are unmatched. I personally don't need or care about every little detail but some do so I figure why not provide it if people are looking for it.
I bought a zoom 34 Ariens and use d it commercially for 5+ years. Not saying everyone would get those results. But im buying one of these for commercial business.
If the non serviceable hydros are a concern, look at the gravley zt xl 42 it is the exact same mower from the same factory but with the hydros and the engine upgraded to the zt-2800 which are serviceable, and has a 21.5 Kawasaki or a 24 Kohler engine.
A lot of the Gravely reviews say it’s terrible on slopes. Wonder why. There are reviews saying the Ikon is good. I’m confused since they’re the same. If anything, the Gravely should be better.
@@mct8888 I have the XL42. It does look the same. My yard is flat, so can't comment on slopes. Mine has the kawasaki fr651. Mine was NOS. 2016 model purchased in 2021. Dealer tried to pass it off as new. Gravely gave me an extra 2 year warranty for my trouble. So far, it's been a good ZT.
Mine broke down after one season came out to oil in my floor and no mower so far this season. Transaxle is not serviceable. It’s hard to find a service shop in my area that will even work on it because I bought at Lowes they are backed up with the ones that they have sold. So I’m out of luck. It’s still under warranty but man what a pain. Buy from the dealer
Thanks for the review. Lots of good info. I can tell you’re an airborne tough veteran because it would kill lesser men to wear their wife’s hat. Lol. Thank you to you snd all veterans. .
Hi Guy - Love your little Daughter - She got Her 15 seconds of fame in this video - good job on the video. I'm looking at maybe getting this mower and this size. But need to wait a little while more. Thanks again Cheers!
I work at a small engine shop and mechanic and we get about 100s of ariens zero turns because some people are idiots to put oil in fuel tanks and gas in crankcase or gas in everything to destroy a engine that you’ll have to buy a new engine that cost half of the mower...
just got one, 3700 mower, tax 238 , deliver 60 ,3997 total. dealer had 36, only had 2 left, now one! my friend told me about this place day before, went to 7 placed to buy any 42 inch mower, there are none to find anywhere!! I just got luck!!
Nice video, But why is it that every video I see on ZTR mowers always show some cutting a really nice manicured lawn? Why not a steep grade that is a little bumpy? I am sure there are other people beside my self that want to see it cut on a slope maybe on grades up to 20 degrees as some of my yard has, Thank you Ron
I want this mower. Unfortunately, nobody in my area has the 42" in stock. Lowes has the 52" in stock for $100 more.. and it has an additional 5HP too. I may just have to go for the 52".. even tho I was hoping for the more compact size of the 42". Thx for the review...
@@Martel327 I found one. I emailed Ariens and they did an inventory search in my area. A small shop near me has one in a crate. I'm gonna buy it this week.
The Andersons test plot in the pasture looks the best. 🤣🤣. Lol, just kidding Brett, I had to do it. Anyway, good video and nice mower. Can you turn off the heat here in Jersey so I can tend to my almost dead lawn. 🥵🥵
@@Brettsgrasscapades it's been a brutal summer for sure. My front is still holding on but backyard is starting to check out. I was keeping it low with the manual reel but struggled keeping up with the watering.
I have a 5 yr old Gravely (same company) and the front 2 welding points of the frame gave way/broke with normal residential use and no rust. I was considering getting new Ariens but, gotta admit, I'm a bit gun-shy. I mean, the frame?! Of all things to fail, I wouldn't think the frame would just come undone like that. It does look as though the frame is now beefed up better vs prior years? Also, how does the $1500 bagger system work? I Love the high-speed mowing section in your vid.
I’ve had so much trouble with the belt coming off again and again and again. Bolts where loose right off the floor. Once all bolts retightened all was good except for the belts, I am so tired of taking it apart to put a new belt on. It’s recking these belts somehow. But I love the mower. It is awsome
I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ru-vid.comUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
