We have been so excited for this day to come! A little over a year ago, we planted this Fredrick's purple passionfruit vine in our backyard. It was so fun to watch grow, and it produces such interesting flowers! But finally, what we've been waiting for: fruit! The passionfruit is a small fruit with a leathery shell and a goopy, seedy interior. The flavor is intensely tropical, tangy and sweet! We had never tried one until a couple years ago, but the flavor is so frequently used in juices, teas, and smoothies that we were already familiar with it, we just didn't know it!
We also got to pick our first homegrown canteloupe! We forgot the name of this variety, but it had so much more flavor than the one we got at the store! That's one of the coolest things about growing your own food - you can pick it when you want it, making it that much fresher and tastier! :D
