Real question: How do you define "innocent"? The vast majority of people killed by police are killers themselves and other scumbags with no regard for the lives of others. If there are actual cases of completely innocent people killed by police with corrupt intention, I would love to see it.

None of the stories I found answered my original question which was how do YOU define "innocent"? All of those cases involved people who were FAR from innocent. The only thing I found that could even potentially count as an exception was some underaged kid who was intoxicated trying to run down cops in his car. I want to know what you think is innocent vs not innocent and what you consider to be justification to shoot a criminal.
Riiiiight. Because literally every single person on the face of the earth killed by a cop is just a poor innocent soul and a victim of police corruption. @M W Still, there are a lot of things they often indeed do that does lose the community's trust. When they enforce laws that the overwhelming majority of the community doesn't agree with or in cases that they don't agree with (example arresting a medical marijuana user), that loses trust. When a cop intimidates someone into testifying against a family member over a minor crime, that costs trust. When deadly force or high speed chases are used to enforce petty laws for a misdemeanor, this makes the community not trust you. When a cop digitally sexually assaults someone to find evidence of a non-violent 'crime', this costs trust.
@M WThe don't get to vote to get the law changed. They 'vote' on which lawmaker will vote on that often for the only candidate on the ballot as an artifact of gerrymandering.

The issue has nothing to do with starbucks. This is all about the relationship between the people and the government. Law enforcement isn't viewed as a protector any more, they are viewed as powerful ego trips to be avoided. If I were a black man , the presents of an officer would give anxiousness; even as a white gay man I don't feel comfortable around a slew of blue. Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot. While I don't support this I do think that it should be a wake up call that many communities have lost trust in law enforcement and that effort needs to be made in order to regain that trust. I have never been arrested nor have I ever been accused of or convicted of a crime. Never even had a traffic ticket. But I feel uncomfortable around a group of officers in uniform. Even those in my own family. It shouldn't be that way. It sounds unreasonable to some but it is what it is. My 13 year old son is affected the same way. He participates regularly in activities sponsored by our local police department because I think it's important to have positive experiences for all involved but it doesn't make him or I any less afraid.
No effort for retrust. Police have made their bed it's time to lay in them. The civilians have no responsibility to contribute in reviving law enforcement trust.
