When genesis came out, I focused on breeding these guys and we used 4 of them as bossmounts, they are absolute beasts!

this tame gives me headaches because it killed 3 of my mutated barys just from electric eels and jellyfish

Back in the day before pods when the island was the only map I managed to get a paraceratherium in to one of those underwater caves. Built a bed on it etc.

Your videos are fantastic. You don't just talk about how good every creature is, you show it. Some claim everything's so good but then can't prove it. You do just that. Go above and beyond which is so helpful.

I've been playing for about a year now, so I'm familiar with most dinos and their unique abilities. I was bullied for half the day yesterday when trying to tame a 150 on crystal isles. That one kept getting damaged so I gave up and eventually found a m/f 145 and 140 respectively. I tried taming those after corraling them away from eachother and killing the low levels, but then I got attacked by electro a-hole eels who damaged the first one, then more dunky's spawned when I was taming the 140 and it got damaged while I was fighting them off away from the tame. Anyway, this is a long winded way of saying: I'm still a noob and watching videos to learn things I already know about dinos because reasons.

Went on a Dunk taming spree recently on Crystal Isles. The amount of Dunks and Eels that chased my Ichty at times reminded me of the Tuso glitch on Ragnarok when hundreds of them spawned. Now I have a really good breeding pair in my fridge for future use :D

Not going to lie I tamed one of these in the past and just cryo podded it cuz it was so slow. I had no idea it was a gatherer, thanks for the insight!!

This vid made me stop and think 'what am I doing with my life?' I'm currently playing on Ark Mobile Hard Mode and I just tamed a Basilo. I'm still hurting for oil and one lonely Basilo can't really produce Oil fast enough to provide gasoline and jerky. I mean it can/could if I was more patient, but yeah. I didn't have a reason to look into these guys until I saw this vid. Now I'm off to tame myself an "Anky of the Sea" and farm up some oil rocks. These guys give a brand new meaning to "Get Dunked". LOL

They are indeed pretty cool gatherers, except for element ore. With element ore you are better off with a pickax... but they still carry tons of that 😁

I plan on using these things to ferry resources across the ark, but I think I’d mostly breed for weight and health, then pour everything into movement speed and stamina with a bit going into melee damage

Dunkleosteus don't make me cry. Ichthyornis, Reapers, and at times Micro Raptors make me cry XD

in my limited experience, very easy/safe tame, and a wonderfully helpful dino. max level is very commonly found on the center map. your server should have dozens of max level dunkleos. compared to say maybe a couple max level mosa/plesio per server.

Could use a harpoon launcher ya know. That's what they made them for, the larger underwater creatures. You're doing it the bob way.

You have no idea how tough they are to kill! The bony plates on their bodies are so durable, I had to waste more than 100 spear bolts on an evolved dunk.

Dunkleosteus are not catfish, but are of a unique group of fish called placoderms, the main attribute about the fish being their facial armor. Funny thing about them, they boomed in the Devonian period, and then almost completely went extinct afterwards!

Thanks for doing an ABC on this guy! I was thinking about getting one but I was not sure if they were useful. Could you do a ABC's on more of the underwater caves? I have done a couple of the main ones to get the artifacts but I don't know where the smaller ones are. I wish they would put them on the Wiki.

dunkleo is not aggressive. what makes them aggressive is if you get too close to an ammonite on the bottom surface, they run and spit out agro juice. (similar to eating a rare flower around non-aggressive dinos) as for jelly and eels... you should be able to find a big area to tame dunkleo w/o any. more ocean than jellys and eels, find a quiet spot to tame dunkleo.. just avoid the bottom where the ammonite are so they don't spit agro juice and ruin things. then you'll be fighting everything, including other passive dunkleos. after you tame dunkleo, you will notice that angler fish are aggressive to your dunkleo while riding them. not a big threat... it actually makes taming angler pretty easy. angler is also a great silica pearl gatherer. one quick gather session and you should be set for life. just be cautious not to scare the ammonite. stay far away from them while you're gathering.

watching you shoot tranqs, have to keep reminding myself you have a 500% dmg bow and its STILL taking this many arrows

Is it better to use tranq harpoons as opposed to arrows, or are arrows the better option?

of the underwater tames i have, the angler is so squishy, due to not having a saddle - no armor. all the others i have punch above their weight, as per usual. but i'm not fighting x-variants. the strength of wild x-variants should be the new normal wild difficulty for all dinos tbh... normal wild dinos are too trivial (excluding giga bs)

On official pvp servers you won't hide from Alpha tribe, they know where every 'secret' cave is.

Not going to lie this tame has angered me the most. Found a near perfect one a 145 and I spent a full hour chasing it across the ocean getting stunned by the stupid eals or attacked by other Dunky before I finaly lost it at night because I can't see. I hate the ocean

Underwater creatures got the short stick for years now, this one especially being close to worthless, and now with ASA and all electronics running wirelessly on generators alone making fuel even less desirable and in turn oil. We need aquatic gameplay overhaul

I’m going to copy my comment from a different video cause I figure you wouldn’t see it, and I’d just like to say sometimes you have to make your own luck. I recently commented on your experimental dragon army video and this is the first and only time I’ll do this, so, yeah here it is. I don’t know what the odds are you’ll see this over a year later but 1st I’d just like to say I recently found your Chanel after searching some obscure thing about some Dino I don’t remember at this point and I stumbled across your ark basics videos about taking stuff. 2nd I like trying to use different under appreciated Dino’s for things like this and I’ve never seen someone try mammoths before and it would be cool to see this attempted again which brings me to number 3 3rd if there is one thing I do well in ark it is pack-mastering a tone of dinos at once. It could be very, VERY useful to try and use tame ordering groups. One example I could think of is put the mammoths on 1 the velonasaurs on 2 and whistle either the mammoths to the side before sending the velonasaurs or sending the mammoths in and then whistling the velonasaurs around to the flank clearing the firing lane and messing the dragon up.
