How does Arken compare to Athlon scopes? I have 2 Athlon scopes and find myself in the market for another scope. Shopping for scopes has been brain racking lately.
I've got 2 of the SS 10x42. Great buy for a budget. But a lot has changed since I bought them. If only they could add a zero stop it would be a much better optic.

yeah you are WAY too late. :) there's only one scope on their website that ISNT sold out. Looks like they are taking back orders though so you can still get the good prices, you will just wait 6 weeks for your scope.
@@jeffhuntley2921 Oh for sure!.CCFR (our NRA equivalent) has a case before the provincial court in Alberta (a court that has traditionally been very reasonable including a case fighting the (nullification just this week ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5zPBqh71dmc.html) with the most experienced constitutional law firm in the country, and once the provincial court affirms it, it will go all the way up to the Supreme Court (the government will appeal or we will). We don't have a second amendment so up until earlier this year the government hadn't actually done anything illegal, but earlier this year when they rolled out their ban they got super arrogant and broke some laws so it's going to be difficult for the courts not to side with property owners now! 👍😁👍

I own two Arken scopes. They are good looking, good feeling scopes. Beware to only torque to the specs of the scope, not what the rings say. My Gen1 scopes could easily be over-torqued even when using a torque wrench. It rendered the parallax turrets unusable on one of them. Arken took care of it without question which speaks to their warranty. They are really good value.
Just received mine a couple of days ago based on the good things you had to say on earlier models. I hope the reticle isn't too fine for my aging eyes. Thanks for all your great videos. 👍👍
I mounted mine on my CZ 455 .22 LR PVT. I won two out of three stages of our club match. I will put it on my Bergara 6.5 next. Looking forward to my next Arken purchase. Yo Rex thanks for the recoil test.

Just got the sh4 4-16x50 mounted and zeroed on my SPR. Very happy with it so far. By far the best quality I've seen under $800. And I actually had to use their customer service for something before I got the scope in and they were freaking awesome. Answered me right away and they were backed up bc they ran out of scopes, but they pulled my order and shipped it 10 min later bc I told them I was going out of town for a while and was wondering how long it would take to ship. Awesome. And I made sure they knew Rex was almost 100% responsible for me choosing Arken. Great quality and features for the money, biggest downside is definitely the weight and size. Not ideal for a 5.56 SPR. But I like it so much I'm gonna work around the weight and keep it on this rifle. Thanks Rex!
I have the ep4 on my RPR. Actually went shooting today and at 400yrds I was hitting a 3inch plate using hold over and never had any issues. I am wanting another but I haven’t seen them available for a while.
Wow I might have to change what scope I get next. This has a ton of features you don't even see on 1k scopes... Arken. What an awesome product! Too bad I have other things I need to spend money on...
Nice review rex. I ordered the mils version 3 weeks ago. Im putting it on my dual upper aero M5 .308/6.5cm rifle. The price is excellent and the great reviews this scope is getting has me anxious to get it.
My Gen 2 6x24 came in about three hours ago...just paying around outside with awhile Im very eager to get this on a rifle and hit the range. FIRST thing I noticed...She IS heavy! Very solid feel, knobs are awesome. Ill range report when I can.

I just bought one today. Should be here Monday. Best scope in its price range. I think they should consider stepping up the glass quality. And bring in 1-10 LPVO. All models under $650.00.
Great Review Rex, I watched these as this new budget $399 model came out. The only possible cons I see is that gas fill dimple on the butt of the bell, very reminiscent of the Primary Arms scope design which also had a lifetime warranty. However with vibration that little dimple had a bad habit of walking it self out and all the gas escaped. I had it repaired and then replaced it for an Athlon model. Would like to see how these perform over 6-12 months in the field test. Second con I see, if sales start increasing the price would go up, don't your production costs go down with increased production and sales or do your profits just go up ! My SWFA x20 fixed doesn't have many moving parts but keeps on ticking
You’re killin’ me Rex... just ordered this scope, the precision pack and mounting setup... all for just shy of $500. I figured I better get it before the price goes up, or worse. I have about a two month wait in front of me but it’ll be worth it.
There are a lot of low buck scopes that seem pretty good. And a lot of tests that make them sound pretty good. But one thing that is never done in youtube reviews of scopes is adjusting the scope at a certain magnification and zeroing it, then crank up or reduce the magnification and then shoot a group. At the new magnification the group shifts off to another area of your target. A good scope like Leupold, S&B, Swarovski, and even Vortex will not shift. That is the difference in an optically correct lens and a second rate one. There’s a good reason good scopes are expensive. You get what you pay for. If that’s your budget, so be it, you just need to have a little dope card to show the required windage and elevation adjustment needed at the different powers. It just takes a session at the range and ammo to develop the chart.

Ok. I just bought one a week ago. And a second today. That makes three. I own scopes that cost a lot more. But I can’t afford to have Tier one scopes on everything. I know people complain about their customer service response. But what it costs to employ people is expensive. Low over head equals low prices. So people need to be patient. I paid $350 today for one after my discount code.
They put a lot of thought into these optics and mounts. Setting it up was super convenient, lots of marks to line the optic up, in/lbs markings, arrows, they used the same size screws wherever they could. The are a couple downsides for me on my Ep4 6-24 doesn't seem to have the parallax adjustment range I would like. I end up with it cranked all the way up by about 400 yards, and by 900 I'm having to babysit my scope halo pretty meticulously. The center dot is extremely hard to see on paper but if the goal is to ring steel with it there isn't any problem there. They seem like good people, after I posted it on IG they reached out to me and wanted feedback. I'll be grabbing the SH-4 when they come back in stock.
Make sure you check the parallax guys! Was very excited to get one in to check it out, unfortunately it didn't work as planned... The parallax was not working properly for me and several others who bought from the same batch.
@@ecopsych101 Not at all, some optics made in China are actually very good, example being the Athlon ARES ETR. With that said my $300 Bushnell Engage would allow me to remove parallax... So there's no excuse why Arken couldn't do that.
@@Guitarjourney4life Yes, I always check the parallax as most narkings are wrong, however, the numbers can get you close in a snap. However, parallax removal was not possible with this optic.
Hi All I expect delivery of an Arken 4-16x50 by mid October '21. Can't wait to mount it on my 20" AR15 with 8.5 twist. Used to shoot 8 to 10 Xs, out of 10 rnds, at 600 yards with a 10X Leopold using hand loaded 69/77 G Sierra Match Kings. Almost as good with Federal Match. Looking for reliable 800 Yrd hits from this combo. Comments from Rex about these Arkens convinced me that this was a smart purchase decision. BTW: I stumbled upon Snipper 101 after REX published his second or third vid and waited petulantly for each episode that followed each week. At that time, my youngest son and I were NRA HiPower devotees. Shot every 600 yrd match, even CMP matches, and every weekly 600 yrd practice. There are many good contributors to the ELR community but Snipper 101 and REX Reviews is the Gold Standard, Bar None.
Got my sh4gen2 in mounted it up on my 300 winmag took it out to 900 and tracked good . I was able to take a whitetail doe at 520 yards and it . I like it enough I turned around and ordered another one.
I bought one for my Howa Legacy 6.5 Creedmoor today with the same mount you’re using. Seems like a great optic and much better than what comes with my gun.

Rex nobody is going to believe that a $2000 scope is lesser than that bargain scope. No way. More money always means way better. Btw the swfa 10x was absolutely the best budget scope I've over used personally. The Bushnell elite 10x fixed was my pick before you got me on the swfa. Although the Bushnell has more positive clicks and a zero lock the swfa with its 30mm tube is just killer. I also ran both the Bushnell fixed 10x and the swfa on my Barret m99. They held up great.
I Have mine and I waited forever for it but it was so worth it I installed it on my Bergara Ridgeback in 300PRC and put the Steiner on the shelf before I brake it again.
Super excited gonna start saving up for one of these, that being said, wonder if used SWFA's are going to start coming up more and more as people upgrade 🤔
This review has my hopes up! Have wanted to move up in magnification and scope features for years, but always worried about overpaying for junk. Have relied on older Leupolds, but want more.
I've been a fan of Athlon Optics for years. They were the only ones that ordered reliability and affordability in the same package. Arken, after some research, has came in the picture and they are making a splash. I only wish that my Athlons came with the features this scope comes with. I have handled the Arken and its solid. I feel it will hold up or exceed the Athlon. BTW, i have out shot (box test) higher priced scopes with the Athlon. I love reliable and inexpensive products. And if Rex likes it, and he's a Razor, a so-so shooter like me should do just fine. Thanks!!!!

Kinda rediscovered your videos and love them. Have you noticed Element optics? I use them for all kinds of airgunning mostly long range (200m+). Might give them a try.

There a good scope shot all day Saturday and sunday but the problem i had was arken optic ep4 retical was seeing that center dot. The center dot for me kept getting lost toward end of day ,close to dusk you couldn't see it . Its a good scope for the money there the best.. i ordered sh4 gen2 as well cant wait to try it out.
Good review Rex, however you didn't cover was the quality of the coatings on the glass. How well does it hold up in moisture-rich environments? Also, maybe you covered it, and I missed it, but how does it perform at dawn and dusk?
I love my ep4 and 1st gen sh4 is great too. If there’s a price increase there needs to be an increase in supply! I don’t mind a 6 week wait but 6 months is a bit out there.
Contacted Arken and asked where these scopes are made. China was their answer. I dont care how good it is. Plenty of other options that are not made in China.
Enjoy your videos. Bought this scope on your review. It works ok. The higher power you go, the more milky the lens gets and the eye relief is extremely small. Too small. Wouldn't be able to track moving targets with this scope as if you move your head even 3mm, all you see is black. The tracking is superb but I think the eye relief problem will keep me from using this scope on anything but a rifle used for target shooting, ie, it won't be on my hunting rifle. Since I've mounted it, I cannot return it to where I bought it. So after a month of use, it's relegated to back up position. So I bought a Leupold MK3. The eye relief on it is 4-6" and I can move my head all over the place and still see everything.
Wise choice using the M-82 , an fn-fal would've been a nice addition on for augmenting the testing . interesting and informative video as always . thanks

Ok, so now I'm waiting for this to come in, I was going to spend quite a bit more, but Rex said nice things about it and I have the SWFA SS and that is a solid scope as well, I'll take it for a whirl.

I hadn’t seen this earlier review but the July 2021 version when I bought this scope. When my gunnery (corporal) saw this scope, he thought we could put it on a 50 cal, not just a 338. Guess he knows a solid scope when he sees one!
