[Arknights] Analysis: The future of the Seaborn

While I'm sure both of you have respect for each other, I couldn't help but picture you & Qaiser in Rhodes' control room fighting/arguing about the Seaborn problem like a shounen anime. Qaiser: You couldn't possibly understand, Blob! There is no other option. Skadi can't be saved. This is the only way to save the everyone from the Seaborn. Blob: Then why.... *Then why did you become a doctor!?* Qaiser: Nani? Blob: You chose to be a doctor, so that you could help people, right? To give them hope! To save them! *ALL OF THEM!* (Blob does shounen transformation) Blob: I will save them. Skadi, Laurentina, Gladiia. All of them! *AND I WON'T LET YOU GET IN MY WAY!* (Blob does big shounen attack on Qaiser)

Why can't we just turn Amiya into half seaborn and then allow her to unlock full power of lord of fiends and then she could easy influence seaborn better than Skadi and mizuki. Since we already know from Ch 11 spoiler that Amiya was able to easy resist the will of entire Sarkaz race thanks to power of crown so that is a possible outcome.

so basically the people who roll for Mizuki and Skadi are literally saving the universe

Don't forget, Seaborns are also a combination of Zerg and Tyranids

Since the video is pretty appropriate, I want to dive in a bit on my thoughts regarding the Seaborn menace. Personally, I think it's a very poorly handled faction, for several reasons. The first one being that it feels very out of place as a threat to our protagonists. Why is that? Because the backbone of Arknights' lore is Originium and its civilization-scale impact on interactions between people. Not to say that Originium is the only threat to Terra and its people of course, but it is the one the game has decided to focus by literally giving us a company who's main goal is to answer Originium's impact. The Seaborn threat is nearly 100% removed from Originium, and doesn't even share the same overarching theme as Originium, focusing a lot more on Individuality VS Collectivity rather than human interaction. It also involves a very specific set of characters which really only interacts with Iberia, making the storyline feel very localized and unrelated to everything else. The second one is that the Seaborn/Sea Terrors basically have infinite plot armor. They reproduce like crazy, they mutate so fast they can't have a consistent power set, some have broken regeneration abilities and so on... Yet despite all of that hundreds if not thousands of them get swept on a daily basis by literally any important character, be it the Inquisitors, the Hunters, or Kal'tsit, making the threat feel incredibly artificial. Even the stronger Seaborn we encounter can't do anything, they just die slower, heck the Hunters actually "killed" Ishar-Mla, their God. It's really hard to care about a threat when it is so inconsistently depicted. The third, worst and final reason I have to dislike the Seaborn faction, is that it fails at the very theme it's trying to explore. The goal here is to depict both sides of the coin and then derive conclusions. You can do that in 2 major ways, either depict both sides, or have them clash against each other which will in turn reveal their underliying motives. The problem here is that, on one side we have Seaborn physically incapable (through the span of 2 events and a good 10h of reading) of understanding emotions or anything that consistutes Individuality, while on the other we have individuals who hate the Seaborn and consider them lowly monsters. And both UT and SN, despite that, try to have Seaborn and humans interact, which inevitably leads "join the great cycle vs shut up and die, you literal trash", or in other words, the dullest dialogue I have ever seen in Arknights. It doesn't tell anything meaningful about the overarching theme, it just tells us that the conflict exists and we should care because we supposedly care about our protagonists. So yeah, I really don't like the Seaborn from a writing perspective, and I think they desperately need to either stop talking at all because they clearly don't have anything to say and should just let their acts speak, or develop Seaborn that are actually capable of having conversation with the side of Individuality, which apparently will happen if what I grasped about IS3 is correct, but then again that's a very late addition to the table and only solves my third issue.
