I really appreciate that, thank you. A3 is one of those games where you're terrible at it until it "clicks" and you start to understand the strange ways it works. They're really old so the quality doesn't stand up to my more recent content, but there's a couple guides for this mission up on the channel too if you think they'd help.

Yeah it's funny, I played tons and tons of ArmA 2 OA, and specifically the stock scenario "Freedom Fighters" which is practically a more barebones Antistasi (in fact I think AS is something of a remake of Freedom Fighters), so I figured I wouldn't be total shit at it. Except in FF you get two AI commanders that operate alongside you and the Russian AI has the tactical sense of a barn door so it's a common pattern of "liberate, hold, move on, liberate, hold, move on" and as long as you're decent with an RPG you'll be fine. I was piddling about in a captured BRDM very quickly whereas Antistasi is so much more fleshed-out and unpredictable. I made the switch to A3 a little late so I'm very behind here lol

This sort of "Capture the Island" mission is pretty popular in A3, probably from people trying to make similar modes to that original mission. Antistasi, Overthrow, Liberation and Vindicta are some popular examples. Antistasi is a lot more focussed on guerrilla warfare, so you're not going to be holding ground until very late in your playthrough where you can field the firepower necessary to do so. There's a fair bit of notoriety around the enemy attacks for having overwhelming numbers.

It hasn't really been long enough for me to consider it again, I finished a playthrough a couple months back. Perhaps I'll look at the community branch next year though

Rabbits, snakes and the like are all spawned in patterns (and this is client side, so you may have a different pattern to someone stood right next to you so you see a different rabbit). Chances are if you go back 10, 20 times you'll see a couple variations of the spawn but the same patterns every so often.
