Hey guys, a little note on the opening, as I did not choose a Battlegroup until mid-game. When opening Armor battlegroup, you can quickly select “Fast Deploy” and “Veteran Crews”, allowing a quick jeep to be very effective for capping points and also harassing weak/isolated units in the early game, alongside reconnaissance utility as the game progresses. Additionally, although I went for air support, I think infantry support Center is stronger overall and especially when you consider the buff to your 4x Rifleman.
Been doing the jeep thing you described for the past few games! I love it; It's like a kettenkrad on steroids. Very difficult to keep that thing alive though because I tend to be too aggressive with it haha
@@RenZoneNL Yeah, super strong right? I thought so too. It really allows you to control the map in the early game, as it can hunt down kettenkrads, motorcycle teams, and isolated pioneers. Not to mention, the added support to your rifleman in engagements + recon capabilities. It’s such a great opening but you’re right, it’s more fragile than one would think. It can easily be killed by a single mainline unit, if you’re overly aggressive.
Man you're right, this update seems to feel way more like COH now from what I've seen. Was holding off on buying until some updates but I think I'm gonna pick it up now. Love your gameplay btw, keep up the good work!
Hey Varkx, it really does feel more like COH. This update is a great step forward in the right direction. MG’s and support units are stronger, blobs and front line reinforcing is weaker, off-maps and vehicles are starting to be balanced properly… the list goes on but CoH3 is starting to demonstrate that highly tactical gameplay the franchise is known for. Ohhh nice, honestly its a good time right now, you made a smart choice not frustrating yourself with some of the issues over the past couple months. Glad to hear COH fans like you joining in! And thank you for the kind words and support, I will absolutely keep it up!
WP man! It's interesting how much more synergy the vetted Assault Engineers have with the Easy 8 compared to the stock riflemen. They were able to clean up that Pio squad and then repair. Still not clear to me if Relic didn't buff the Air Support Center because they think it's fine already or if buffs are planned. The Infantry Support Center is so good right now tho.
Thanks ZombieRommel, and I totally agree, it’s a pretty interesting change to the deployment. I was personally really curious to test assault engineers out after reading the patch notes, especially for the reasons you described. The assault engineers come mounted on the tank which allows them to get to the front line very quickly, surpassing enemy, MG’s for example, and are able to be dropped off in a close combat engagement. While also having repair capabilities, alongside other engineer utilities. I honestly love the change. And I agree, infantry support center is the way to go. I love the air support center and am trying to make it work, but it definitely doesn’t have the same return on value. Although the free recon runs are really nice. It will be entering to see how Relic approach is it in the future.
Hey Expanding Edge, I couldn’t agree more! The gameplay feels way more tactical with this new patch. It honestly feels like CoH again, you know? Really happy about the update and how Relic is approaching balance / design.
What’s up, Terpene? Hope you’re enjoying the new patch! Agreed- they are a lot of fun and I actually think the US Forces faction design in CoH3 is top notch, better than CoH2. It’s going to be very interesting to see new battlegroups added overtime and how that impacts the faction. And lol 😂 @ “Crispy”… I think that’s a compliment, right? Trying to up my game. Haha
@@SargeGG yeah crispy is awesome. I just really enjoy the coh3 graphics and thumbnails. The new patch is excellent and the stream they did was excellent as well. I think they are on top of what the game will need going forward. It was reassuring to say the least ,as i think a lot of people were apprehensive about this patch. After watching the stream and playing along with the patch i really feel good about our beloved coh franchise. It will only get better imo. They could of blown it, but they didnt; so good on Relic. Of course, everything we all desire didnt get done in one patch, but it will be a eventual process and im ok with that.
@@MrSmokincodz Yeah exactly, I was also very encouraged by the Dev stream and communication. They were not only transparent but showed a lot of competence with their design philosophy. I think they are well aware of many of the issues and are working to tackle them one step at a time. I’m already noticing a massive difference since the patch, where the gameplay feels more like the CoH we know & love…. And I feel this is just a taste of wants to come, as you alluded to. Right - it’s going to take a few big balance patches and several QOL updates over the course of this year, but I suspect the game will be eons better by Q1 2024. This franchise is so important for Relic to get right and you can absolutely see that in the recent Dev stream.
i like a lot the stuff that was broad with the update, things such as the 60range alto reverse the HMG upgrades (not fully as now spamming HMG paradrop is just to easy and viable now), the AT guns change, the reinfocement on frontline and when in combat, some of the units change such as Stobs finaly living to they name as hardened veterans (for a 420man 4 man squad they need to do REALY well compare to the rest specialy considering similar elite units being as good for lower and more members such as foot guards, commandos, gurkas). tho i don't like some changes for the DAK, specifically changes for Manpower costs such as the 75 increase to fast capture and emergency repairs, the DAK is allready very manpower heavy making them even more just completely ruins its only advantages, its not even worth it going armor with them anymore, before you could go for stuff such as marders, stug Ds when with the upgrades as they would be able to survive much more pounding and still outweight its cost, but now due to the 40 less HP from Surv Pack and the increase of cost to the ERK they basically just die to things suposely weaker than them such as the stuards and chaffes, (keep in mind stuards allready could beat 1v1 a marder withouth ups but now its worst as marders does less dammage due to TCR not giving dammage and HP ups just to expensive)
Yeah, I also don't understand why Relic nerf the basic knowlegde that they put for the DAK- the light vehicles. Now DAK vehicles are just not worth it,seeing a mobile and fast army turn into a classic inf army make me feel sad for DAK;they are also the faction that recieve only nerfs since the begining of the game😢
Yeah, very well said Cris_P. I like the overall design philosophy and direction Relic is taking the game, listening to Jason and Marco was very encouraging. You can already see the emphasis on strategy rather than APM with the new reverse update. I also like the emphasis on buffing late game units to make them viable against early game units that are scaling well with veterancy. While also giving you more incentive to choose specialized and elite units rather than spamming early tier units, such as the jager and infantry sections, all game. I think they did a good job nerfing blobs by targeting Frontline reinforcing and also buffing MGs. However, they are going to have to rebalance Para-MGs as you stated. I’m sure they anticipated this and I believe there are some relatively satisfactory solutions to the issue. Regarding the DAK, you make some really interesting points. I think it’s going to take them a few balance updates to get DAK just right, as they are very complex faction. It seems they launched the faction with high emphasis on mechanized play and universal upgrades that made the faction very strong as the game progressed. However, the early game suffered and and especially with infantry styles of play. It seems they are now trying to make the infantry style more viable and especially early game. Instead of surviving to the mid and late game, getting upgrades, and winning the match after being on the back foot all game, it seems they are trying to buff DAK early game and slightly Nerf the late game via upgrades. However, But you bring up a good point regarding USF armor, especially in the mid-game. DAK may perhaps struggle against quick Chaffees and Stuart’s for example, which are highly maneuverable and multipurpose. It’s a bit early to tell but I will definitely keep your notes in mind. Good stuff as always, Cris_P.
@@nhatminhphan4001 i fell ya...in fact, DAK is my most played faction, i allways liked the fact you can have the Flak 36 and recovery truck from base, along side with not needing engyes to do repairs to your tanks due to the ERK. but they are so weak and punishing to play right now, that i am shifting my play to the Werh and a bit to the allies. its just not fun to be lacking manpower all the time and have units that use said resouses to suck ass against units that are cheaper, its just to punishing and its honestly sad...
@@SargeGG glad to hear that you think my points are valid and makes sense, i realy want this to be the *CoH's New Legacy* basically the one to succeed CoH2 but also implement what CoH1 did best. i just hope they can get that balance just right, rn i can feel a bigger influx of players, i do agree it was a great step towards the right direction, but it still has plenty of work to do, but at least it is in a better state than CoH2 was at the start as far as most veterans from the era suggest.
@@Robyn_Bank I hear you! CoH3 is absolutely vital for the success of the franchise. You’re right, the game has to become a true successor to CoH2 while also bridging the gap from CoH1 so that it brings the community back together. It’s going to take time like you said, but I think they will pull it off! By Q1 2024, I anticipate that the game will be in a great state.
Not sure if you'd like it, but I think if you rotate the camera opposing the enemy instead of playing with the default angle, you will get much better vision. Even if a unit just pops from fog of war for a milisecond, there is a good chance you will notice it, which with the default camera is not so probable. I personally do it everytime since coh 2 and I feel like I have better idea of whats going on on the battlefield. Might give it a try. Good round though! Few more patches, few more months and this game will be great!
Hey Ladas, I have tried this in the past but never preferred it over the default view. But I know Helping Hans enjoys this specific camera angle, right? I should try it again and see how it feels. I do remember hearing that it allows you to see into the fog of war a little more clearly, as you stated. I much prefer to be high up and angled, but perhaps there is a modification of this view that is advantageous. I’m also very curious to see the camera view/zoom options Relic will be releasing in the near future. But yes, I totally agree, the game is shaping up very nicely and will be great after a few more updates. I was really happy with Relics communication and competency in the last developer stream.
@@SargeGG Well.. I was talking about the direction rather then the angle.. I like to play with the default angle too but in the direction towards the enemy. I maybe did not choose the right words :)
Hey Vlambulance, thank you for letting me know, that’s definitely something I can work on after the release of the next big update coming in July. There’s gonna be a lot of balance changes coming to the game, so that will be a good time. CoH and RTS games in general are very difficult, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself to be good in the beginning. Keep up the practice and focus on improving overtime. In general, are you more of a defensive player or offensive player? Do you have a specific place style that you prefer?
@@SargeGG im looking forward to it ! I’ve been having your game’s on the background when im playing on my second monitor, i did play allot when the game just released, but then i stopped once the axis was kinda op and broken with their anti air placements they could put down at the start. Recently came back. Playstyle wise, i always play support but since i main 2v2 that isnt really a thing, so i guess more offensive? I’ve been messing around with the indian artillery from brits with heavy mortar but i’m having issues with it, i do like the commanders (or what is their name, the paratrooper ones). Since of the weekly challenges i am challenging myself to play usf aswell, but all the guides are +2months old.
Hey Robert, are you a Wehrmacht main? Grens got more utility in the recent patch, but the jury is still out on whether or not they are strong enough. I tend to prefer breakthrough battlegroup, using the assault package for my grens with MG42 support.
@@SargeGGthank you sarge, yeah I am Wehr main since kinda 3 weeks when I got the game. Mostly choose the package to get that mg for grens and later the tiger. But I am having troubles to counter a position where there are already aliens with mg and mortar support, I know mortars and vehicles are a good counter but first tiers Wehr vehicles having a hard job clearing that for me. Any tips? Keep up the good work man! Greetings from Europe
@@robert2449 Thank you for the kind words and support all the way from Europe! I’m jealous Haha. But yes, it’s a good question you are asking. Which game mode are you playing mostly? 1v1 or team games? Generally speaking, USF is either going to go for a Barracks or the WSC (weapon support center) early on. So you’re either dealing with a lot of rifleman early on or support units in tier 1 like the MG and mortar. But perhaps you’re countering players who build rifleman early and then follow up with WSC MGs and mortars? Or are you referring to British opponents as well? In team games, strategies and build orders can vary to incorporate a lot of supporting units. So you could have a scenario of mass rifleman supported by MG’s and mortars as you’re describing. If you give me a little more details regarding the game mode + USF and/or British opponents?… I’ll be able to give more helpful device. Also let me know which tech you prefer after tier 1, lufftwaffe or panzer Kompanie.
Hey Lee, yes it’s similar to command & conquer but World War 2. However, this game has more emphasis on tactics and map control for resource supply lines, rather than mining resources in your base. I hope that makes sense!
I see that you aren't using the elevated position at around 5:00 minutes, is there any reason you did that or is it still not a habit yet; I think you could've won that handily if you used it correctly.
Hey Luis, good comment, appreciate these kind of inquiries as it helps me improve. Just to make sure I understand your inquiry - Are you saying that I could have tactically retreated to the high ground directly behind my rifleman, where the house is located? Holding the position until reinforcements arrived from HQ. If so, you’re right. I just rewatched the clip at 5 mins and that was the proper play to make.
Hey last, this is something I am actively working to improve in terms of mechanical efficiency. It would improve my game a lot. As a long time StarCraft player, I was very comfortable with control groups and and hotkeys. However, in CoH I find myself using them less. I think it’s a bad habit but will get better over time.
@@SargeGG More wishful thinking, wish people would just get over their FOMO. If you don't want to buy it fair enough just let the adopters have their fun.
