Nice rig expecially considering that you had to build it out based on TAPS. I really appreciate how you've managed to make it balanced/ symmetrical. It's not some much an aesthetic consideration but if a rig is unbalanced wearing it all day causes some serious back ache!
12:37 For anyone reading this who wants to make their own dangler pouch and doesn't want to spend the $$$ on the Spiritus Systems TAP Upgrade Kit, you can spend $35 and buy the T3 Gear Utility Pouch LC which has MOLLE channels and straps which will work with the Tactical Tailor MALICE clips, or you can use ITW male buckles and then put QASM female buckles on your TAP for attachment points. I use this method and now have my dangler pouch as detachable.
Excellent! I'm a militiaman with one of two of my state's militias. The TAPS is what I chose to carry my loadout due to it's price and modularity. My problem has been figuring out how to set it up for my job as reconnaissance in my group. Additionally, I've had problems with donning and dothing the rig with a H-harness, as well as figuring out the best setup that would work well with a FILBE without interfering with the shoulder straps. Your video is an excellent reference point.
Really great Video. Very impressive how well thought out your setup has gotten from basic TAPS rig. I have had to use other sources as well to find a rig that works for me. Ferro Concepts, Spiritus, Blue Force gear, even a Mil Spec Monkey pouch from Tactical tailor. My only regret for my setup is that I dont have the extra slots/space for 2 canteens that you do. Again, very well done and thought out. If I was your Company Commander, I would make your rig suggestions sop! Much more practical then just running a Vanilla issued setup!
I bought a TAPS after I got out. I was never issues one, or any MOLLE. I was issued ALICE LBE and the LBV thing. If I was still in, and I had a choice, I would only run the TAPS with 6-8 mags and put nothing else on it. I would use a belt and suspenders for the rest. Put the TAPS over the suspenders. Having mags on your chest is nice. I don't understand having everything else on your chest. Love the mods you made. Great job!
The Tea Party and now the far right wing in general are deeply connected with advertisements for expensive "survival food", over-priced gold coins advertised as investments, tactical everything and snake oil treatments for ailments. It's a rip-off industry for machismo types.
Leveraged on the US FLC combat vest, attached with 2x Tripple M4 magazine pouches (Left/Right front end each, ACU) + 2x 1Quart USMC 1 QT MOLLE ACU CANTEEN COVER Carrier Utility Pouch with 2x Nalgene Oasis water bottles + 1x rear-side admin pouch (ACU) to form cheaper 1x Day pack for hiking.
Alright boss, I have two TAPS (one as a standalone and the other on a Pc) I’m building out right now. And taking everything you’ve said into consideration and mimicking a lot of this. I do have a question though, how did you add the bungee for the mags? Do you sew it on? I watched this originally just for that and when you went on to your next mod my heart sank haha
All I did was run shock cord through the top row of molle on the front of the tap, and then through the molle that sits above the center 4 mag pouches. Works pretty good 👍🏻
What would be a good upgrade from this? I like how mags can insert right into the taps, Parashooter is kinda like this, but doesnt have the inside zipper which I like.
If we wohld have done that in Golf company 3/3 we would have been screwed and i mean it. Wven the whores in Honolulu would have screwed us. Dang i dont like that Devil were brothers in battle
If anyone can find a source for these, I'd like a couple of pair as well. I have the same problem as described in the video w/ the female buckles for the harness.
It's strange how you and I have almost the same setup. I'm Army Infantry and run my custom TAP in this manner: From left side of TAP Canteen Pouch - TT 1V Pouch (for eyepro case) - Admin Pouch - TT Double Mag Pouch - T3 Gear Upright Utility Pouch (for PVS7 NVG) - Tourniquet pouch - TT Multi-Tool Pouch We both have a canteen on the end, admin pouch in the center and then 2-mag pouch to the right of the admin pouch
Man is there any way you can give a part number for those eagle industries adapter straps? Trying to find just one set to replicate what you got here, and just can’t find them at all on eBay with the name you provided for them
Does anybody have any good recommendations for admin pouches? I’m the guy who sticks everything in mag pouches or my ruck and I think it’s time to improve my life.
So you mentioned on your belt video the importance of frags, and utilizing dedicated frag pouches for their intended purpose. Yet, you don't include frag pouches in this layout. Since you also said that you don't wear the belt with your chest rig, what is your frag solution in this configuration?
So my solution for frags in this situation would be replacing the admin pouch on the front with frag pouches. That’s a dependent thing of course though, it was more important that I had the ability to carry the map gear and other items in the chest rig. I know that’s not really a solution that’s perfect but that’s what I came to.
Yeah, compromise and prioritize. In your role, map is more important; joe needs the grenades more than you. Back in the BDU and ALICE days, we could shove extra frags in our lower blouse pockets. Not sure why they got rid of those pockets on ACU. Great presentation. Thanks for putting in the effort.
Do you think it could be practical to wear a tactical belt in conjunction with your TAPS? If i dont put anything big on the back of the belt, it can work with a ruck, and having the belt would allow me to reduce the bulk on my TAPS.
Personally, I wouldn’t like to do that. The whole reason why I have so much on my chest rig is because I don’t wanna wear a belt, so I have nothing inhibiting my rucksack hit belt.
Sportsman guide has new USMC Taps rigs for $13. $27 with shipping and tax+ you get 3 months of buyers club Edit: i think that was a black friday deal. They are $22 currently. Still a steal for a new TAPS
@@highready3962 it’s just a repair buckle attached to the loop, as for the male side it’s a length of webbing ran under the back of the pouch attached to the molle on the chest rig its self
Awesome rig set up! This inspired me to get a TAPS rig from ebay. Got a good used one and am in the process of setting it up. Thank you for posting this video! Skal!
@TheGruntPerspective which one would you say is more mobile meaning which one let's you move your arms better. I don't wanna buy both harness and have to return and all that jazz 🤣
ok hear me out, i have an idea for enemy tanks and snipers... picture little round mirrors with four foot stems, thin that you could stab in to the ground.. .in Ukraine soil, if an enemy fires at it with a cannon or what have you he gives away his position not only that it covers your real snipers and lets them know if they are in danger. i'm brad moody from hagersville thank you for your service
if i only had accecss to the tactics guide i could improve it i have been inquiring about an emp round behind tracers even in hand helds@@TheGruntPerspective
If your running a dangler go bigger. We figured out in the lava dogs that you could put a claymore or tripflares in there and they even the weight out in front of the taps. When we hit the beach, we get our claymores out of the danglers and trade em out with more frags and starter belts. It works good and less likely to drowned in the surf. Im a weak swimmer so thats somwthing i have to cocider
I heard that Devil!!!!! Their good for Claymores. Or even a smaller sapi plate. I used to run a 100oz source bladder as my dangler. I pretty much just ran it sideways. Now the pen flares we mounted to the guns and our helmets with the larues
Yeah it rides pretty high, i basically never used the standard harness though so I don’t know how much higher it would be. The harness does a lot for a lot of adjustment though
@@TheGruntPerspective that’s good to know, the stock harness adjusted all the way up has the panel centered on my belly button, can’t even remotely run a belt with it
