Army Basic Training 2019 | Fort Jackson | Reception 

My son just left today for Columbus MEPS to fly out tomorrow for Ft. Jackson and watching your videos has helped a lot with me dealing with him leaving home for the first time.

Excited to leave on Sunday to Fort Jackson! Thank you for all the information in your videos, they’re very helpful to watch.

I did basic training and ait at Fort Jackson in 1985. Victory tower was my favorite. I was in delta company 9th battalion 2nd training brigade 1st platoon. I still remember it like it was yesterday. That's an experience you'll never forget. I was only in the reception area for about three days before we started basic. I love watching videos like this to see just how much things change and/or remain the same. Welcome to the Army family. Stay safe. No mission too difficult, no sacrifice too great, duty first.

My Son left from Dallas on Tuesday for Ft Jackson.. he left Meps at 11am, flight was supposed to leave Dallas at 5pm. to Atlanta, then by bus the rest of the way.. . flight was 3 hours late into Atlanta, they got there after midnight, and the busses that were supposed to take them 3.5 hours to Ft Jackson had been called off, so he and 50 other recruits just slept on the floor in the middle of the Atlanta Airport.. They finally got word about 9am that busses would arrive by 5pm..... luckily they got picked up by about 1pm, and arrived at Ft Jackson by 4:30 on Wednesday... Needles to say it was a long 24 plus hours of travel.. Phone was turned off right at the reception area at 4:35pm, and as of today (Saturday), it hasnt gone back on, and we haven't heard a word from him.. Hopefully he'll get to make the "I made it to BCT OK" phone call tomorrow...

I remember the 38 hour day pretty well, You went to Columbia, I went to Atlanta (which makes no sense) then we got off the bus, got smoked in the blood room (where you got your shots) then ate at the DFAC (yes at 2 in the morning) then went to the bays to drop our shit off, then did medical stuff and I fell asleep in the hearing booth, and thought the holes in the wall were m&ms. Then finally went to sleep at 2200. I believe I had firegaurd that night too.

Rewatching this vid because i’m heading to basic (jackson) on valentine’s day lol.

I remember I had to get the bicillin shot on my day 2 at Fort Benning. It really hurt because the medic literally stabbed us with it. Every guy was walking weird when we got it.

I’ve been trying to figure out for a long time. Is it maditory to get the peanut butter shot???? Or can everyone get a pill? You said everyone takes a pill?? If that’s true it would be so much better. Army 2020 is what the question is for.

Did you see anyone pass out or almost when they were taking your blood during medical? Did they still let them through? I don't actually pass out but I get alittle woozy and it happened at meps and they were okay with it I'm just wondering if basic they'll be the same

At what point does the recruit get to call their contact to say they made it and provide the address and their info for mail?

Can you tell me about the vision exam at reception? I haven’t found a video explaining it.

This made be TMI but did you ever get your period during basic training? Would they give you iphrophen if you needed it? If you did get it was it havier then normal? Sorry if this is a little TMI but I heard people never getting theirs or it was extremely heavy.

Why in God's name do you need 12 shots unless you haven't had any during childhood but shots are not compulsory in civvy life so why don't you even get told what crap they are pumping into your body!
