is it because those who survived still stuck with the aftermath of war? or is it because they are fighting with their heads? ...another war brought by war...
This movie is so aggressively painful. Theres no time to know the characters. You dont meet them in a classroom, or watch them grow up. They are just young men sold a dream of glory and patriotic ideals. And then they are dead. And thats it, their dead And for some reason thats so much worse than "knowing" them. Because as the movie goes on you desire to know them. And they die you know they will never get to know themselves before their deaths.
That's what World War 1 was like nobody knows those men that's why they have the grave of the Unknown Soldier for all those who have been forgotten in the war
0:14 imagine youre one of those women and you find the name of your husband, brother, son or even neighboor or friend in one of the uniforms. The movie already starts off so devasting
This movie is the one of the very few movies that actually made me feel REAL emotions for the characters (and the movie it self) this was a masterpiece of a movie and much better then most film we have in the present. I was so destroyed and shocked when the last main character died. I almost cried.
I watched this movie at class, i was the only one really paying attention, it left me in tears. I searched for some spec of hope to be left but war leaves nothing, 3 minutes before the cease fire. How many died because something that was already agreed on ending had to be dragged on till last minute? It's terrifying how little politicians value their people's lifes, it's madness. I think its the best anti-war movie, because you arent left with one glimpse of glory, reality of war is ugly, children are dying everyday because monsters of human beings just can never have enough.
Read the book in 8th grade. Being a lousy student. I didn't really 'read' the book, but I did read when the main character had been stuck in the little ditch with the other soldier who had cut in the throat, I believe. That scene hurt me.
I wish my country had more books like that about the WW1 since it was most devastating for us, sadly most books got burnt by Germans in ww2. I'd gladly read all if there were any
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell. -William Tecumseh Sherman
This fits so well😢 ( In memory of every soldier's life, who was pointlessly squandered in World War 1.) In the trenches, a ghost does dwell, Where the horrors of war, only time can tell. Whispers of loss, echoes of pain, A haunting reminder, amidst bloodstained rain. Soldiers once young, now weary and old, Their stories of bravery, forever untold. Screams in the night, the silence of dread, A ghost in the trenches, where hope has fled. Barbed wire and mud, a chilling sight, Men torn apart, in the darkness of night. Gone are the dreams, of a future so bright, Replaced by the ghost, in the cold, endless fight. So let us remember, the ghost in the trench, The sacrifice made, in a world so drenched. Lest we forget, the horrors of war, And strive for a future, worth fighting for.
It’s much worse.. Watch it. His comrade dies as he got shot in a liver because they tried to steal eggs because they were hungry after the war, people there got ran over tanks.
This movie and the song combined it's so, i don't know, melancholic? The movie it's a masterpiece. The ambient sound, the looping of the stories, the fact that they were just young and thought they were doing something meaningful and saw the war not as something really serious, only after seeing their comrades dead, they realized the life they were living. And then we are shown that everyone who participated in the war had a family, everyone on the battlefield had no choice but to fight. It's something cruel and heartbreaking, after you realise that this really happened in real life, It's even sadder. War is a horrible thing, I hope something like that never happens again.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE AN EDIT OF ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT WITH THIS SONG AND NOW ITS FINALLY HERE!!! TYSM FOR THIS BEUTIFUL EDIT :)
Please not that traumatizing movie, I cried so hard because of their struggles. The MC dies in this movie, and his comrad does too as they get out of war..
I'm Ukrainian and I cry every time I hear this song. The things I've seen, how politicians don't care about our lives at all, and why? I don't know. When I visited a memorial to Ukrainian soldiers, those young faces, what a waste, SUCH A WASTE OF LIVES
I somehow feel related to this song but the closest I've felt is I was born a military brat up until I was 11 but now I want to join the military and every time I listen to this song I imagine the Notification officer telling my parents I that I have died on deployment and I imagine them breaking down. I also have good grades in my high school so I relate to the "he should've been a politician" and I imagine my mother telling the officer all of the things I could've been.
this song fits so well, great song. unfortunietley many are gonna end up like paul considering current situation in the world. im 16 years old im from Poland, and i wanna go to military, if i have to die for my country i will. so you can say im an "army dreamer" (sorry for bad english)
This absolutely breaks my heart, this young man looks exactly like my brother. Just thinking about if something like this were to happen to him, and how it already had to so many others. It’s disgusting and It’s just not fair. people need to be a lot more appreciative for what all the soldiers did for us.
All of them has such horrible and unfair deaths Ludwig-Died by artillery shelling Albert-Killed with a flame thrower when he begged for mercy Frank-Shot offscreen Tjaden-Killed himself while he was paralysed Kat-Shot for when he stole food for Christmas Paul-Stabbed in the lungs with a bayonet seconds before the war ended 😢😢😢
I never ended this book. I can't really tell why. When I read it I began to see the glorification of the war in our world. I never really noticed this before. We all are told that being a war hero is beautiful and that's something we should strive for. That fighting for the county is a beautiful sacrifice. But nobody ever told the stories of soldiers who just went there and were scared. The ones that died on the first day on the front. They didn't have enough time to became a hero and the only people that remember them are family. The ones that were passionate about the idea of war but in reality all they saw is just pain. While reading you can see how beautifuly politicians described the sacrifice while doing nothing to end war. I care about the soliders who survived all of those things. I am amazed by their strength. But let's not praise war. It will only lead to more wasted dreams.
the war was always such a sensitive topic for me. i hate when people laugh or joke about it. they cant even imagine the pain. they never felt pain. they have everything they dreamt of and they still dont appriciate it. im happy ive got clothes, im happy for the fact that my parents have a car, that we have a house, that we have a garden. i could never joke about war. thaousands of peoples lives were ruined and people from this generation still make jokes about it like its nothing

I hate war i really hate war I hate those people who are causing these wars no one deserves to die war eats everything it doesn't leave anything except broken hearts broken souls and ashes of our loved ones I really wish that the wars ends forever
@@beethovenssonata2673 doesn't the war only have to do with a militant group located within the Gaza Strip, which last time I checked doesn't have anything to do with the nation of Palestine at all. And the freedom of Palestine is more of a political issue rather than a militant one so I ask again what does that have to do with anything.
@@someonegameing take genocide as an example, while the occupation is armed the Palestinian civilians are NOT! For a Belfort lie an example a lie to the world giving out a land not yours ! People hate Nazi for reasons and love Zionism for the same reason .
@@beethovenssonata2673 okay your first point, I'm assuming your point is is that the Israelis are currently taking part in a planned and meditated genocide which is not true, although the methods for war have caused much more suffering than anything else that does not fall onto the Israeli country but instead the Israeli government, and unlike the Nazis which you were using as an example it is not planned and premeditated the Nazis used internment camps, gas Chambers, participated in experimentation, and forced labor, altho the Israeli government is taking part in is mass expulsion on a grand scale which is not count as a genocide, although the the forceful relocation of Palestinians is wrong and I don't think anybody is arguing that it does not have anything to do with war and instead only has to do with the political affairs of a government, add to your second point that people hate Nazis for the same reason they love Zionism is not true, first off the things like the Holocaust will not widespread public knowledge until the 1960s, that is not to say that people didn't know about it but a majority of people didn't, the majority of hate for the Nazis during that time what's form wartime propaganda, at least in the US many Saw with Germany was doing as somewhat just, as the lands they wanted were historically German, as for the modern-day ready contribute the hate to the Nazis for the Holocaust which is correct, but like I mentioned before the Holocaust is a genocide which in technicality the government of Israel has not participated in, lastly Zionism has nothing to do with those bases add has everything to do with the Jews returning to the historic Homeland of Judaea later renamed named Syria Palaestina by the Romans to differentiate the land from the Jews that were living there by naming it after the jews two historic enemies the syrians and philistines city States. So to these points I have to say none of this has to do with war and instead governmental action which is a completely different debate than what the video is about.
In fact, there are children younger or the same age as these soldiers dying every day, huge numbers of dead to this minute, You can imagine that this war has been going on for a year to this day, civilian women and children are bombed and killed, they are even run over inside their tents by enemy tanks, scenes that the mind cannot comprehend, I think you know or heard about this war Free Palestine 😢🍉
