If everything goes according to plan I’ll be admitted into Sandhurst as of January 2022. This now leaves me a good amount of time to fully prepare and study your advise. I honestly couldn’t thank you enough for this great video.👍
Excellent video, just some points that want to correct. Speed=Distance divided by Time is the correct equation and also a category 2 is a delay for development for a period, maybe 6/12/18 months however after that time you may proceed to Main board it’s not necessary to redo the Briefing stage. The army will assume that you’ve used the time for your personal development. Not major points but important, excellent video regardless and definitely solid advice.
A heads up for the leaderless task is that there's no expectation on how far you actually get through it. They're looking for the how, not the what. So if you're running out of time and you've not made much progress, don't start going to pieces, it doesn't matter!
@@joesmith461 honestly bud I don’t remember doing much maths. It seems as though a lot of people get worked up about it. All I’d say is practice mental arithmetic for when you are asked questions on the plan ex presentation. One lad in my section was incredibly good at maths but couldn’t do 25/5 due to the pressure.
@@joesmith461 personally no mate. I personally felt like I didn’t perform well in the interview. I would try and really think about the things he said in this video. And formulate a good answer to “could you kill?” (If the answer is no. Then don’t go)

Hi, I am an army reserve and I recently went on to ASOB briefing. Call it my ignorance or lack of resources available as the only officer we have in our regiment is on Maternity leave I turned up knowing nothing what to expect. As I was completely unaware of any preps I booked the first date possible which was in a week time so you can imagine I didn’t get any time to prepare any test. I have done my GCSE in 2002 and my masters in 2009 so it’s been a while I have done any form of test. Anyways I don’t want to make any excuses so will cut the chase I didn’t make it and was awarded category 4. Though I smashed the fitness test and showed reasonable performance in group discussion ( as per my feedback report) I was below average on Arithmetic and other written test including the Plan Ex. I agree with the feedback they gave as given the level of training and practice I had that’s what I was expecting anyways when I came back. However, I know that was not the best of me if I knew what to expect. So my question is realistically can I still make it back. As I am not the person who give up easily. But wanted to know if there is anyway they can reconsider me. Any guidance will be much appreciated. Thanks Regards
First of all, great video. Not too long, straight to the point and clear (almost perfect qualities of a leader 👍). Secondly, I'm currently in my first year of A-levels, predicted A*A*A. I got straight A*s at GCSE however I am not looking to go to University as I see myself as an up and coming Officer within the British Army, more specifically as a Pilot. Would not going to Uni or being 18 hinder me in any way? Great vid once again. Love the channel 👍
Was originally going to apply to be a Royal Marines Officer, I was predicted a 6 in Maths and English, but ended up getting 5s (coronavirus has really messed me up), I read on the website you can join the Officers course with a 4 in the British Army. I'm 17 right now I'm going to apply next year after my Level 3 Extended Diploma. The career progression in the Army Officer course looks a lot better as well and the pay ahaha! Training like I'm still joining the Marines though, going to make sure I'm physically ready. Really excited love Current Affairs and this video has REALLY helped me thanks a lot mate.
Thank You sir i had given 2016 British Army selections in Nepal 🇳🇵 got merit out in the end so disappointed for me. My Aim till now to give British Army selection want to become an officer will apply for Student Visa and surely I’m doing preparation for AOSB test.
Note - I have my AOSB soon and have been advised there is no Essay or General Knowledge Section. Unsure if this is a temporary change due to covid, as the AOSB is now 2 /12 days. Extremely helpful video, thank you! I’ve used this to help pass my Briefing and done so again for my upcoming AOSB.

Good luck on your adventure into the British Army. I served in the infantry 2003 to 2010 and the most enjoyable parts of the Army are the sense of adventure, new places to go and explore. Nothing beats standing on the square with all of your kit with your friends, all waiting to board transport to go on operations in a foreign country. Work hard and have fun!
Cheers for this. Some great info. Could I ask, is it necessary to have a degree? I’m 16 and I should hopefully get 3 As at A levels next year (Chemistry, physics and maths); I would say I’m quite quizzed up on current affairs and have an in-depth knowledge of a lot of history. Furthermore I’m quite athletic and I’m currently building up muscle to be in peak shape for the boards. I really don’t want to go to university, and I’m trying everything to get in first try, but will I have a realistic chance?
Hahaha, you're in the exact same boat as me mate (however I can't see myself getting 3 A's). I'm also quite unsure about getting in as I am completely opposed to the idea of university. Let me know how you get on.
This is really insightful thank you. I have a question regarding educational qualifications. I have GCSEs A*-A however didn't do very well in my A-levels (which are below the requirements on the website) however I went to university and did an extra year to get on my degree programme and will be graduating soon. Will my A-levels prevent me from joining?
My son recently passed assessment centre. At his interview they asked had he considered Officer. He said yes but believed his poor A level results meant he didn’t have enough UCAS points. The interviewer said that was true even though he has a good degree. So they said they would expect him to be commissioned through rank.

Hi, I went to the doctors in 2018 after a camping weekend with a wheezing chest, the doctor thought it might be asthma so they wrote that down, and on my application form the medical person would like to know more about it, I haven’t had a wheezing chest since and don’t have it when exercising. Do you think I can get rejected for this. This video was super helpful. Thanks

@@MilitaryFitness well its exactly what i was looking for currently at Cambridge university officer training corps started for something different no interest in an army job and its grown on me i like my trucks and few of my friends in the film industry recently joined the reserves.
I’m just curious, is a ‘Level 3 Extended Diploma’ in public services an adequate qualification, or are they looking for something more academic-wise? It's referenced heavily on the government website, but I've found no instances online of any applicant being accepted with it.
What would you advice be for conducting the Individual Tasks obstacle course? The thought of having to lug myself over a 7ft wall and climb up a rope (which I've never done before) is pretty daunting. Have my Main Board in February.
Work on upper body strength and overall fitness. The fitter you go the easier it will be. Either way you will be able to complete it with a positive attitude.

Hiya , I'm a quite intelligent , fit and mature individual who is aimed at straight A*s in my a levels. I want to go into the royal medical corps as a PQO as a doctor. All I'm aware of is that at some point you have to apply to be an officer , receive a bursary for uni , basic training , officer training and then medical training. Is there any chance you can help me out on the acceptance rate of officers and what steps I need to take to be a PQO in the medical corps as a doctor ?

Currently looking at becoming an infantry officer, recently dropped out of uni due to it being 100% online learning and not what I wanted to spend 4 years doing. Do you think this will damage my chance/come up in the interview?
Have a grasp of geopolitics and what is at the forefront of the news right now. Have an understanding of the integrated review and read things such as the week etc.

Oh dear. The British Army RCB. Hasn't substantively changed in a century. That tells you all you need to know about the Army's approach to change and innovation.
Perhaps their is some value in considering that people, and the leadership of people in war, fundamentally hasnt changed dramatically. The psychology of human behaviour and the things that have been identified as being strong indicators of potential for success as an Army officer remain relevant today, so this might explain the multi-faceted assessment in the AOSB process? I'd also comment that the diversity of young people being attracted to service as an Officer has improved significantly in the last 20 years and that is perhaps a better reflection of the Army's attitude to change and innovation.

Yes you can, in general. I was a Canadian officer and one of my mates became a Royal Marine officer. I also know Canadians in the Household Cavalry and what used to be the Gordon Highlanders. But it depends on the policy of the day whether HM Forces still have openings for Commonwealth candidates in general. Best to look at the website as the good WO2 says.
