Army the bus has had a Subaru engine conversion for quite some time and I'm just now getting around to installing a heater - I waited too long!!! Having real heat in a VW Bus is life changing! No more giant puffy coats and blankets needed when running errands or on grand adventures. Army is my families personal bus so she gets very little attention and even less funds thrown her way. That means that this heater cost about $20 and was built with mostly scrap parts. Enjoy!

Why the 'T' and the rubber connection ?

+Marc Instone when summer rolls around I'll want to clamp the hose to the heater inlet (or install a valve) so that the core doesn't heat up the cabin. That little bypass allows the coolant to still flow through the hoses so the thermostat can do its job (the heater circuit is the main "signal" for the thermostat to open).

Tsrif Tsal I believe he usually uses a smaller diameter hose/fitting for the bypass, so there is a reduction in flow there. Don’t know why it was the same size this time.
