The problem with Salah staying is that he cannot be a guaranteed starter every single game anymore. And if he's going to throw a strop every time he doesn't start, there's going to be problems in the dressing room. I actually think this season will be very telling for Trent- not to diminish his fantastic achievements, but, Klopp did create a unicorn role for Trent that truly only thrived at it's best under the 4-3-3 with an industrial midfield covering his defensive responsibilities. Starting from RB with the game infront of you while also having less defensive responsibility than the other defenders is very different to starting in the middle of the park with the game going on around you and defending is split second. Not saying he won't be a world class midfielder, but we don't truly know yet. His defending leaves much to be desired, so I don't think Slot is going to nail him down as as a defender, but to say we should just build the next system around Trent is naive, Mac Allister is already looking to be the more rounded player in the middle of the park for example.

The biggest problem with us is the fact we don’t fix our problems in one window we just kick the can further down the road and make it tomorrow’s problem look at when we need a cb after loveren left or a midfielder after gini now a dm after fab we just wait until we absolutely have to being reactionary and by that time another issue with the squad pops up

Number 10's do not require pace. They must have time on the ball, be able to receive the ball with back to goal. have vision and good passing for a through ball. be able to dribble a bit, a good long shot and finishing. .. Macca has it all. Including the ball winning abilities that Bobby had when dropping back from the false 9.

In order of priority, its a left-footed CB, a DM to replace and upgrade Endo, and a RW to backup Salah. The rest of your business comes if you are replacing spots due to sales, which could happen with Kelleher, Tsimikas and Diaz. I would sell all three of them if the offer was right. Nunez gets one more year to show if he can be more prolific. My ideal signings would be Hincapie for the LCB, Ederson for the DM, and Bakayoko for the RW spot. With proper coaching, that side could win the league.

Love the show! I'm half a world away, and really have to concentrate listening to the High Scouse, lol. But, very soothing to the ear. Sell Salah, I love him and there will never be another Egyptian King, but if he leaves next year free, there may be regrets. Especially, if he had another 50/50 season. Hold on to Kelleher if you can, he's genius. Honestly, too good to be a number 2, he'll want/need the minutes. Conor Bradley not playing on right back from the gun would be criminal, and I would have an agent on the continent try and poach him if he didn't start!

If the world doesn't have a DMF upgrade you can turn to ball playing and carrying CB a conversion in a hybrid 3 covering two positions, with Endo still offering a specialist option. I believe Man City's key piece is Rodri a player that sets their whole team apart and always clear of the field.

I’d play Trent right back. Robbo left back. And we need some better centre halves, particularly with VVD getting no younger. We need a quality midfielder, absolutely no doubt about it. Going forward, I think we need another attacker. I wouldn’t be looking to sell many of the squad, I rate them. Not that fussed on Diaz as his end product is diabolical. Jota being fit should be our first choice 9, but I don’t see it

The discussion about when Slot may have conversations about individual positions etc is based around our conception of starting a new role. Who's to say that for his interview he didn't present exactly what he intended to do with the current squad? And based on that, it's realistic to think he compiled individual videos explaining his expectations to the players. They may be on holiday but they're professionals and they'll want to be ready for the new season. Conclusion: these things have already happened

Exequiel Palacios (Leverkusen), Anton Stach (Hoffenheim), Morten Frendrup (Genoa), Ederson (Atalanta), Johnny (Real Betis), Floretino Luis (Benfica), Alan Varela (Porto), Weiffer (Feyernoord), Nico Gonzalez (Porto), Youssouf Fofana (Monaco), Joey Veerman (PSV), Jerdy Schouten (PSV)... Just a few CM/CDM's out there across Europe that has had a good/great season this season gone. I really don't get why people that seemingly have such great insight within football in general like yourself, at the same time seem uininformed when it comes to what's out there, but still states it as a certainty that there's nothing out there?!

Some good discussion here and some really good positions and players covered, but weird conclusions drawn from the discussions here. At CB we have Konate, VVD, Quansah, Gomez, and Van De Berg, so unless we sell one or more of them (presumably VDB and Konate ?) then why would we need a CB, and what level of CB would join to become a squad player ? At RB we have Bradley, TAA and Gomez, with maybe Ramsey coming through next year. HTF do we need another ? At DM we have Bajcetic and Endo, with Mac, Gomez and Morton as further back up. HTF do we need another ? At LB we will, presumably, sell Tsimikas and bring in Beck as cover for Robbo, plus Gomez if need be. So HTF do we need another ? In the other dual pivot role we have Mac and TAA, plus as further cover we have Gravernberch, Gomez, Clarke and McConnell (and I'm assuming we sell Jones). HTF do we need anyone else ? In the 10 position, we have Elliott, Szobo and Carvalho plus Salah and Jota as further options. So HTF do we need anyone else ? On the LW we have Diaz, Gakpo, Jota and Nunez. HTF do we need anyone else there ? On the CF position we have Nunez, Jota and Gakpo as options, with Danns as another option. I think Slot will give Nunez and Gakpo and Jota crack, and if they do not deliver look for someone in Jan or next summer. RW - we have Salah, with Szobo, Elliott, Gordon and Doak as cover. If Salah goes we can bring in a big hitter here but only IF. In the above we have a wealth of options in every position, and that is with me assuming we sell Jones, Tsimikas, Van de Berg and Phillips. So, if those are the only ones to go. I don't think we need anyone, other than maybe a young CB to be cover for VVD on the left. Any other buys depend on some other big names going e.g. if Konate goes, then we def need a CB, if Salah goes we def need a top level RW. If TAA goes, then we could go for a top level midfielder but even then we have so many midfield options we could opt to try them first and maybe go for AN Other next year if need be.

Interesting chat. I think there'll be lots of loans out but hardly any players will leave on permanent transfers this summer unless they really want to. There's too many unknowns, permutations, possibilities & opportunities with Slot coming in. The clear out will happen next summer once the dust has settled & players know where they stand. There's also no way I would sell Kelleher regardless of sentiment as we will effectively need to buy a new no. 1 keeper to cover Alisson. Kelleher will get plenty of games. Give him the FA Cup, League Cup & selected CL games. I also think Geertruida's a really good shout & is nailed on. He can play RB, CB & DM, is a Dutch international & won't cost the earth. A very LFC signing irrespective of his history with Slot & existing Dutch contingent in the squad already. It's surely a no-brainer isn't it?

I don’t know why you all are so convinced about Salah through the middle. You all don’t see how he’s barely able to generate power on his shots these days? Or how he struggles to even poke the ball into the back of the net (and then smile)?

Pointless trying to second guess what slots going to do until he gets some time with them on the training pitch. Some players might not want to be there now Klopps gone etc Some big players have 1 year left on their contracts if they don’t want to sign a new contract they’ll be gone possibly because of their value. Problem is the euros because a lot of players won’t be back till mid July depending on how far they go and with a few weeks downtime. Hope are players all get knocked out in the group stage 😁 There’s a lot of moving parts with Liverpool before the season starts they need as much time together as possible. I'm really surprised that nobody is talking about Salah to PSG. They need to replace Mbappe's goals. They'll want a superstar to ease the burn of losing him. I'd imagine Salah still wants to play Champions League, which means he gets that, plus making a similar amount of money as he would in saudi. Let's not forget he was seen meeting with the PSG owners just last year as well. Strange that nobody is talking about all the pieces that fall into place perfectly for that transfer to happen. Just feel it would be best to get rid of Salah now. For years I’ve been watching him play badly,give balls away. I know his numbers are amazing but he did have a team around him proving chance after chance. I’m a Liverpool fan and I love mo but now feels like the time.

How can you as seemingly knowledgable Liverpool fans be so blasé about then urgent need for a proper DM?? It’s a make or break position. We know it all too well with Fabinho. This attitude of acceptance and just making do is the reason arsenal have overtaken us. The lack of ambition kills me. We need our rodri or rice if we wanna win majors. Fact. Ideally without sales the minimum we need is a CB, DM and RW. Then after sales we need to replace adequately. We need to keep the pressure on these owners man. You can imagine John Henry watching this podcast grinning from ear to ear. We can’t keep letting them get away with below average investment.

At the beginning of the video i thought thank god they are going to stop talking about formations. 2-7-1 is such a funny comment on this obsession. But it only lasted 2 seconds and they were back into throwing around formations and my other hate they started talking about 6s and 8s and 10s where nobody agrees on what these numbers mean. All this talk about formations and positions if the players cant show any basic skills like controlling the ball and moving it on effectively. So much of our play because of poor ball control and passing.
