What's the top speed of the Arrma Kraton 8s? You're about to find out. I ran it with 2 of my 4s Venom 7000 mah 50C in it for a few passes for you. I plan to try different gearing and see what happens.

Good video👍🏻👍🏻 I am going to have to get a gps to check top speed on my Kraton 8s. But by video I would swear mine seems a little faster. Only difference is I am running 2 5000mah batteries with 100c for the punch. Never the less great video👍🏻👍🏻

40MPH is not that bad.. Tony Maybe try setting the timing to 15 degres advanced that should give you a hair top more top end speed... don't want to lose the new GPS go across it with a strip of hockey tape also to hold it down. Nice test bud.

Sorry for the off topic question but I just wanted to know where you got that controller camera mount? The U shaped part that attaches the controller base? Im in the process of making my own mount and have the other half figured out but need something like that that clamps on. Thanks

Did you happened to test it with a set of higher "C" rated batteries? Seems you're using a 50C batteries while the factory recommends 80 - 100C batteries! Would be nice to see you try that test before you change out the pinion. Thanks bro!!!

Hey hope you read my comment, I bought my Kraton 8S yesterday and I drove it today and I noticed that when I go full throttle it kinda sounds like my motor is rubbing on something, doesn’t sound smooth like when it’s barely moving, is it normal?

I'm surprised that you don't put gorilla tape around your soft packs. One of my soft packs got ejected from my xmaxx 8s into concrete and nothing happened to it because of the gorilla tape 👍

To get to 55mph you need the optional pinion the 23t so far people did not overheat the electronics with that pinion

Yup! I didn't take the timing that high. I think I went up to 11.5 . I also got 21T &23T pinions for it. to try out. So far...I'm still on stock pinion.

The speed out of the box is supposed to be 40mph, and the larger pinion has to be purchased to get over 50. Its not bad for how big it is. People want to make comparisons to things like the erevo or other 1/8 scale trucks. Those trucks are 10-12 lbs and this thing is almost 24lbs. The xmaxx is the only real competition from a ready to run.

Yeah. I get it. I don’t really agree with putting 55mph on the box if it doesn’t come with the pinion to do it. If Timing can get it there then I’m ok with that. The Infraction speed was reachable with the “included” pinion. But what’s to stop companies from saying 70 or 100+mph? People make old Rustlers hit 100mph. Just put huge pinion and new electronics. I mean. Really high numbers are possible with aftermarket. I think boxes should state what is capable with things included. Up to this point I feel like Arrma has done that. Granite hits posted speeds, Infraction, etc. So I was a little shocked it wasn’t close. I plan to work with it and try more things to see what I can get.

I don't really see the point of the truck. For what type or usages would you prefer it to the erevo2 ? Yeah it's bigger and the look is absolutely stunning......I agree with that. And appart from max speed (40mph is plenty after all and I'm fine with it), the acceleration os what bothers me. But this beast can be tunned to oblivion, I guess this is the project of those buying this stunning looking RC

Coming. Pinion slipped off spur in live video with it. Then I hit a corner wall on the oval track today at speed and broke a rod end. Have to order another and then it will be bash time. Just ran it today.

What is the issue with its speed? The new center gear box and the gear ratio's could be it? Just wondering why they gone with that rather then the old direct pinion to center diff because seems like that choice lost a lot of speed but even then its power is lackluster. This is just my opinion but i think ARRMA goofed on this model big time as if they did not want it to be any better then all other 1/5th in terms of power and speed. Like i said before, the K8S on 8s runs like a K6S on 4s and my opinion, the K8S should of ran the same as a K6S on 6s and that is my modest opinion. Im not big on speed but 60mph out of the box and it doing that would of been perfect with the ability to do standing backflips and or leaving a trail of raw dirt on grass, that is what i was looking forward to this model. I love what the K8S is besides its power and its below stated speed for a 1/5th 8s truck Vs the others so if i were to buy a 1/5th, the DBXLE 2.0 would be it or a SRR even tho its a 1/6th(?).

You'll see some speed and power coming. I've been playing with motor timing and it gives it punch! For top end, i've got some new spur gears to get it up to higher speeds. I actually don't mind it's speed for bashing. Most guys want the speed to launch it way higher and further than any RC can actually handle stock without damage. I enjoy wathcing them do it, but I prefer to do big jumps, but not to crazy and it can already do that for me.

I saw that! He stuffed it pretty hard at the skate park. RCs can only hand so much. This is a heavy machine. The energy has to transfer somewhere at some point. I don’t launch my 1.5 scale vehicle like I do the smaller ones. They are a lot more to repair.

It does not need timing. It will just burn things up. It needs a 25 tooth pinion for the max speed.

How do you revive a battery that’s completely dead I have a Spektrum 14.8V 5000mAh 4S 50C battery I’m thinking about going with the zeepower batteries because I keep having problem with spectrum batteries and recommendation on the best batteries that will last also can you run one battery off the kraton

are they over-dishcarged? I've honestly never had any issues with my SPektrum batteries. Usually when my batteries haven't charged, it's because I accidentally over discharged them and then my charger wouldn't recognize the battery or kept giving an error. There are a few ways to revive those batteries if that is the case.

@@martinflawless675 I don’t like to give the way, because it’s potentially dangerous if done wrong. You might search about reviving a battery using NIMH charge mode to get it to levels the charger can read in LiPo mode. Best bet is to see if your local hobby shop can diagnose it.

@@deontay79ify None of that will be possible. It's really a 1/6 scale. The motor mount is a 25mm, not a 30mm, and it runs a mod 1 pinion with a 5mm shaft, not a mod 1.5 with an 8 mm shaft. The motor is a 49, and there's not enough room on the sides for a 58 mm can. And lastly, there's not enough room length wise for a 114mm can either. What you need is the TP 4260CM in a 1490KV rating and the ZTW 300A ESC. That setup will be 12S capable.

E-revo would be competition to the 6s kraton. Just based on size and weight this would compare to an X-Maxx or CEN Reeper like the American Force Edition.

Anything more than about 40C is pure marketing - good lipos (graphene) can do about 30-40C and run of the mill lipos about 15-20C. 100C is a joke on any battery. It needs gearing to go faster as the motor power is falling over due to high rpm. Changing pinion will get the motor rpms down to where it is making more power and therefore go faster. Battery is not the problem as the stock motor probably doesn't even need 20C on the speed pinion.

from 3s 1/10 , we went to 1/8 with 6s, and then ironically stop at 8s for 1/6-1/5 th. u would think it would of doubled to 12s for 1/5 lol but sadly way too expensive

Nobody No One i meant how the cell increase in general. kraton is very heavy, 24lbs with no batteries.

@@rushgush The problem is that more cells means it would be much more expensive and it's already overpriced imo. Should have just made it lighter or put a better 8s system in it. Maybe a 1/6 version of the 3s line, but beefed up and tweaked, would have been a better decision for a big release like this.

I can't speak for them, but my guess would be they geared it conservatively because both beginners and experienced people buy their products and it's a safety precaution for both the RC and what it could hit and damage. I've seen several photos of these destroyed on their first run by people that only wanted the biggest one for their first RC....then hit a light pole or curb....so apparently it can be hard to control even at these speeds. People that know what they are doing can easily change the pinion to a 23T or higher like i did and get more speed. Not sure why they put such a light diff fluid in the center though. those front tires want all the power.

It is not a true RC basher if a person can not bash in the rain period:/ I miss the old school RC trucks that was built for all types of weather :/ And at this price point this truck should be 90 mph stock with no upgrades on batts and gear section and where is the 2 speed trans period and that is way I will not buy this one.

You can bash this is the rain. It is fully waterproof. Where do you hear you can’t? That is misinformation. At this price you aren’t paying for speed, you are paying for size. And bigger size typically is slower. The motor is already larger to make it this size and push the weight and would have to be way more money to get a larger motor and bigger batteries to hit that speed. It’s also very dangerous at this size/weight at 90mph and shouldn’t be driven by just anyone.

Or Valve Index if you are in to that sort of thing.... Ill wait and see if anyone swaps out this motor and ESC and maybe mod the center diff setup for a direct pinion to diff setup and see if it turns out to be insane because $899 for this is not worth it at its performance tho the build is quite nice but they gone way to easy on this build....
