Excellent excellent and EXCELLENT video!!! Well done👏👏👏...I cannot wait to see the last phase with the TP motor Vas!! I'm so thankful your still making videos for the RC community, nobody does it better. Much love out there for you Aussies! Stay safe my guy🙏👊❤️🔥😎👑
You're right man..I thought it was me. I was stuck at 97mph on my limitless with the Max6 combo. It will fool you and make you think it has "a lot more" in it. But when the opportunity is right, it simply doesn't have the punch. Great video!
I tried the same setup like yours with Max6 esc and Rocket motor 1580kv and I used 5500mAh 35c batteries, I also change the esc thermal settings to 125⁰c and the voltage cutoff to low voltage cutoff, I also trimmed the front and rear spoilers and lowered the vehicle and adjusted the camber angle to 0 all four wheels and used 34t pinion and I managed to do 110mph or 176kmph that I was very surprised that with the Rocket motor and the low c batteries I managed to do that speed.
Wow, well done man, that's really awesome to hear. Did you have a longer road? Maybe that's what's helped you with the speed? My road here wasn't very long and I have a habit of hitting the breaks as the car goes past me so I can stop in time, but I do feel that maybe if I held it a bit longer I could squeeze a bit more speed out of it... In any case, that's a fantastic result and glad you went faster, not slower, it means the combo definitely works. 😁👍
@@AussieRCPlayground Hi I don't know exactly how long the road was but I tried to take it as far as possible until I barely couldn't see the car but I pressed to full throttle slowly and managed to keep it for about two seconds on full throttle, I was so excited because I never passed the 100mph and with your aid and videos that you posted I managed and you made me happy because it seemed like I was driving a real car with that screaming noise that the Limitless does.
@@josephcaruana9165 haha, awesome. Glad this has helped you out, that was my aim - to help people. Still in shock about your pass, so cool to see someone else try it and be successful with it. 👍😎
@@AussieRCPlayground I think if I use batteries with higher c ratting it could go faster, I tried four batteries but it came to heavy it weighed 6.9kg and only reached 98.6mph than I had a chance and tried two batteries 3s each in series to have 6s with 5500mAh and 35c although I knew that they were small for this motor, I took the big surprise when I so 110mph. I think the trick is how you control your throttle smoothly especially from half to full throttle because it makes a big difference.
Something else is that you have to warm a bit the batteries especially if it is cold weather because my third run was the best and then it started slowing down again, I also added two volt meters with the batteries so I would know the condition of each cell after each run and it helped.
This is just an amazing car, you have inspired me to start saving for one of these guys. Thanks for the great videos and you definitely gave me a kick start to get back into the hobby on my RU-vid channel. I got so Tied up on drone reviews that I almost forgot what I love doing the most, is run in RC cars for the last 30 years. Thanks my friend and be safe , it’s getting bad here with that virus in California 🇺🇸 Cheers 🍻
Aussie RC Playground thank you. Yes for the last 3 years or so I been following ya. Just awesome videos, great information and great entertainment for sure. Cheers and thanks again
Gas I can't wait until you get the to motors and Castle esc installed. In have the Mamba X 8s in my xMaxx and K8S with 45 tooth pinion 😮👌🏿👍🏿. However I can't wait to see you install it in the Limitless, I have a stock Infraction and thinking about getting another Mamba X8s for it just haven't decided on a motor. Thanks for sharing your runs and advice👌🏿✌🏿
im confussed.. was the 100mph limit reached in the 3rd show with the max8 combo and with a 39 spur and 27 pinion ? Part 4 came on and had so many gears and options thown in i lost the story lol...
Nice work Vas , I put that Hobbywing ace combo in a used Losi 8ight , it's a beast on 6s. Tyres keep getting ripped off, ha,ha, This limitless is great, thanks for the hard work showing us these combos. Just sounds incredible, take care mate.
Really cool Vas! Still getting some really good speed out of these combos 👌 I wasn't expecting anything super fast out of the lower KV motors. Great for bashing and keeping temps down with all that torque, but for all out speed higher KV just works better. Can't wait to see phase 4, it's gonna be amazing 🤩
I'm a lil confused on this one as I have the same setup with 27t pinion and I'm able to achieve 99 to 101 consistently. Running 6s and smc packs. 10500mah 3 90c and the race pack 8000mah 3 120c. Sounds like right when you get to the sweet spot you have to let off.
Enjoy the channel. Looking forward to seeing the new paint job. When you install the xlx and tp motor your gonna need more road to get max speed. I can’t remember if your Futaba 4pls has fasst technology, if so that will give you great range. Good luck✌🏼
Great car - so or so. My Talion and Typhon are kind of jelaous, but it would be a little bit underused ;) How ever you are able to keep this beast straight on the street... respect for that at least!
Can’t wait for your boy’s spring time..:) I’m tuned in bud! 🍻, also.. I wonder if it wouldn’t have cut out as bad if you had some cap packs on there? Love all your videos, keep it up!
When did you get that Max6? I picked up one in Nov, and have the 4985, great combo bashing in my Notorious. 23/50 gearing is my sweet spot. Anyways that one was acting weird for awhile, then it finally gave up a fet. Replaced it, got better at my soldering, made my own cap pack, and same motor gave me way more power. Also batteries make a difference with the Max6. Best ones are the YoWoo blue graphine lipos. 100C and a huge noticable difference. Also put new bullets on the motor, the old ones were way looser than I thought. But Hobbywings are great at bashing, not great at high RPM fet switching. That's where you see Castle ESCs do better, but not as durable for high impact bashing. Wanna see how that MMX8S does. So far have seen great videos, but from compensated youtubers.
Thanks for the info bro… 🎥...I have that same motor in my limitless with a max 5 ESC...😎and I’m really trying to get 💯 miles an hour or better... but after seeing this video I’m almost certain my car has the potential to get there… Sweet run bro...😎 keep burning rubber but not your soul...✌🏾
Just make sure you have good packs with lots of mAh cause I've seen speedrun guys have problems with them cutting out/bogging because of the failsafes in the max6/max5
Nice work Vas, congrats to the entry in the +100mph Club!!! Nontheless you are right and wrong about the Hw Motors. For one they are super beasts in regards to bashing. They will take almost everything you can throw at them. ( I had the max8 combo in my mugen swb and the max6 1100kv now in my cen reeper) but they are certainly not really made for speedruns, neither are the escs made for that. The hw escs have plenty programmable stuff but nothing what's really needed for speedruns. On the other hand there is a reason why castle and tp motors aren't really used in bashing ( other than the xmaxx castle stuff). They might be better suited for speedruns but less compared to hw electronics. Keep up your work :)
Dang that thing sounds like a jet! Great job! A few things to consider one being efficiency of the motor that I'm sure you're aware of. this could be playing into the speeds being different between the two Motors... 87% vs 92% efficiency for example. Also the KV, some Motors can be off by as much as 5% and more of the rated KV... One of the motors I race in limited class with boats is listed as 2030 KV and it's actual tested KV was around 1850-1900! Another is the timing, some Motors like more timing than others to get them to their sweet spot of running and efficiency.
Yikes that beast is fast... Really fast numbers there Vas. Any chance you can find a longer piece of tarmac to let this thing wind out?? Still think there's at least another 10kph with a longer range radio and a longer road. Huge numbers though.. Nice work!! Stay safe bro!
mate it'd appear you forgot to take a reading running in the opposite direction! you'd ought to take an average of 2 runs when you've got a direct head/tailwind
Great video 👍. Can you do a suspension setup video? No one has done one, I've been searching. Out of the box this car touches the ground very easily, I have all my parts in still setting things up. 1717 big block 1650kv/ max6/savox 1268. Thanks!
It’s like in every run on each combo it cuts out a little bit when you reach about the fourth tree. Maybe it only sounds that way. I wonder how the Infraction compares with the same systems and gearing.
Did the esc cut due the overload or cell voltage dropping from load? I'm thinking to replace my broken Castle Monster X (because budjet) Managed to get 102mph with castle and hobbywing 4274sd g2..
If you get a motor kv tester you might find the 1580kv motor is actually higher kv than the 1650kv motor. The 1580 could be real 1630 and the 1650 could be real 1600
I was going to say the same thing because I've tested two blx 4274 motors and they both made 100-105kv less than advertised whereas all the surpass hobby motors I've tested (3670, 4068 and 4274) either matched or exceeded their advertised kv ratings
@@hnic72 yes it can vary a bit. I always test my motors on a sky RC motor analyser first 👍 Also the bigger motor could be drawing more current on same gearing so the voltage drop is more which could also cause reduced speed with bigger motor.
before you change the motor/esc out, I hope you can complete phase 3 by running the max6 / hobbywing 4985to full potential, which will be on a 8s battery setup (4s x2). Call it perhaps phase 3.5? cheers. Also, I will say the hobbywing max6 4985 at 1650kv, even though not rated for 8s, there have been a few people running them on 8s with great success on even larger rigs than 1/8 scale and some that have posted videos on youtube already. They simply did not spec it at 8s for warranty reasons, but if you multiply the voltage by kv, it will just be under 55,440 rpm, and if you assume voltage drop at full load the rpms most likely will be around 51,480rpms which will be pretty darn safe to run at, especially true if you are just a few pass speed runs.
@@AussieRCPlayground you didn't read my full message did you vas! :D Officially its not rated 8s, but lots of people are running it 8s. RU-vid has some videos, forums have some posts, its happening. Trust me, try a few runs, you will be happily surprised. If an Xmaxx can run it at 8s on RU-vid, a Limitless will no problem. In fact there is a video of a limitless running 8s on this motor already on youtube, and it hit 110mph. If you are going to complete this setup, it needs to be on 8s mate. If it ain't broke, Put It On The Track!!!!
Hmm, I don't know... I like to believe the manufacturer more than take the risk. This is not a cheap combo to replace just to gain a few mph... That's if it doesn't catch fire before that. 😏 It's ok, I think I'll pass on running this combo on 8S, I have other motors that will do that easily and safely. 😊
Well, I have a new body coming for it that's being professionally painted and that hasn't arrived yet. Plus, we're going into winter now, so the days are short, it's cold and roads are damp which makes it a bit slippery and dangerous for something capable of going over 200kph. Once spring comes around, I'll start doing my passes and show you my results later on. Trust me, I'm just as anxious as the next person to get this beast out for some serious passes, but the car just isn't ready. And even if it was, I'm wouldn't risk it right now nor would I have the time to do it. Hope you understand. 😊
@@AussieRCPlayground ...Spring?! Can't freeze my slush pop for that long. I'm just busting your kangaroo balls man 😀 For the last phase, do a compilation at the end of the video of the runs on all 4 phases to pick up the difference visually. We RC hobos are nit-picky like that. And hey, get Noah some work hazard insurance coverage, along with some riot gear in case those runs turn ugly!
I listened to the video again it is Rocket 4585 1580kv because I wasn't sure, do you think that the longer Rocket motor 4092 with same kv will make a difference?
@@AussieRCPlayground I tried to purchase the 4082 1720kv for four times but never received them for one excuse or another, we managed to purchase the 4092 1650kv and we are using it on a hybrid Arrma kraton with Mojave chassis and it has lots of torque and power
VAS! you need a longer run/road, you're not doing a speed run, you're doing a drag run... you're barley winding out. 34/34 is wayy too much for that road.
@@AussieRCPlayground Vas.. love your content and i'm not trying to bash you. I can see your braking almost as soon as the car goes by you and i can hear the motor is just about in the middle of it's power band. Your set up will do at least 110 if you let it stretch it's legs. I have a 2200 kv TP motor and XLX esc 6s, and if you watch my last pass you can hear the motor is almost at peak rpm 200 ft after it goes by me. I ran 110,113,122 mph all on the same electronics and gearing 30/34, and it still has a bit more to give.
Definitely agree, the motor hasn't peaked in the distance he's running. I have the same max 6/1650 combo running 34/34 and I can achieve 118-120 on 6s with my limitless.
i have to say i noticed the same. i LOVE my hobbywing esc's they're awesome but their motors are average it feels like. ive had good luck with SMC motors (i beleive their OEM is surpass) and obviously tekin motors are absolutely insane. but also what comes to mind with the hobbywing motors is that they might be "torque tuned" possibly meant to haul heavy trucks like the xmaxx rather than a speedrun car. also about your range issues it sounds like your antenna might be damaged. the only time i had this short of range was when i nicked the antenna in the edge of the receiver box
Yeah I love hobbywings esc's but yeah they're definitely more on the basher side of things, the max6/max5 specifically are so hardy because they have a plethora of failsafes that don't get along with the speedrun guys
All though u said it was the first time uve lost signal with the dx5. Those spektrum radios are way over rated..I tried to use 1 for drag racing 5th scale gas. N every time I got to the end of the track I list signal.. bought a futaba t4pv n never had a problem again..I've since switched to the 7pxr n wow. I do realize its a 600 dollar radio.. omg the things this radio can do.
Unfortunately, that Max 6 motor is a joke. I've tested it and logged it, and it is not very good. It promises 160Ah but that is not what it pulls. Not sure what the story is, but indeed a very dissapointing motor. A TP 4050 7D will beat the living snot out of the Max 6 motor, which is pretty funny considering how much smaller the TP mill is.
Aussie RC Playground dam , I've been trying to contact you for 3 weeks, left messages to call me back and obviously you haven't got the message, can i contact you today somehow
**edit** just a FYI for anyone wanting to run the hobbywing 4985 1650kv motor in the limitless with the stock supplied gearing of 27/34...the motor can is to large and the "fins" rub the center spool drive cup and the bottom of chassis. you can't get proper gear mesh with the stock supplied gears. you need to change the pinion gear to 28 or 29 tooth or change the spur gear to a larger one. Also to avoid cut out you need to set the LVC to low or disabled to get away from the ESC cutting the power out early. Awesome... thanks for the comparison. I have a brand new limitless roller and ordered the max6 combo for it. Can't wait to get it going. Gonna just run the stock supplied gearing. I was considering the rocket motor as well. The small difference in speed is minimal but im surprised.... How long will the hobbywing 1650kv motor run on 8s before it fry's itself? Haha.
