I find Oliver's backstory far more relatable than Barry's. Oliver's story is also a bit more realistic than Barry's. IMO. Since Oliver's dad killed himself, whereas Barry's mom was killed by an evil time-traveling/metahuman speedster from the future.

@@sonofbabypluto "more realistic" (or more relatable) as in Oliver Queen is relatively more realistic as a character than Barry Allen when compared to each other. (In this case their parents death). You can relate more to Oliver than Barry, but yea it's not meant to be 100% realistic.

He spent 5 years anywhere except that island..... Okay, he spent maybe almost two years on Li An Yu. Then he gets taken by Ivo, then by ARGUS to go to Hong Kong, then back to the island and finally goes to Russia. And guess what, he does actually get back home at some point in the five years( secretly though).

I mean, he doesn't really have infinite arrows, and I can't really say the show act like he does. There's even an episode involving a guy who kidnaps his ex-girlfriend to bait him into coming after him, and intentionally sets up his security in a way that he wastes all his arrows (including the tiny ones he keeps on his wrists) before reaching him. Which works.

Arrow is one of my all-time favorite shows, so amazing. Some of the best character writing/development I've ever seen in a show and the action/choreography is impressive for a show that lacks a major budget. The main reason Arrow is relatable is because it's all about how to forgive yourself for the mistakes you make and how to be truly accepting of yourself and who you are without brushing the darker elements of yourself under the rug. This is best characterized in the season 5 finale, when Slade is talking to Olver about forgiving himself. Oliver says "You make it sound so easy." and Slade replies with, "It's actually one of the hardest things in life to do." I love this quote in particular, because when you think about it, it can seem pretty much impossible to forgive yourself for your wrongs, but Arrow teaches you that you can do it.

Agreed. Season 1 starts a little rocky then gets good, season 2 is great, season 3 starts good then gets a little rocky, season 4 had a good premier but that's it, season 5 reached season 2 levels and beyond towards the end, and season 6 is somewhere between season 1 and 3 in quality so far.

I was making fun of my best friend for watching river dale, and I kept on sending her "river dale makes no sense videos". I woke up to find her sending me Green Arrow is a weird show, Super girl, makes no sense, Legends of Tomorrow makes no sense, and Flash makes no sense. Those are all my favorite shows. She got her revenge. The sad thing is I agree with this video.

Okay yes because Barry Allen is Barry Allen exactly from the comics he doesn't act like wally at all. If you can just see past that and realize they're trying to do their own thing, also right now as green arrow he's happy, these seasons 1-3 he's just vigilante dark arrow. I personally liked season 3 arrow yea he was Batman basically but so what. Honestly Oliver in the new 52 comics up until recently in rebirth was a dick and tool so they didnt have much to work with

Bruce Wayne goes to parties with super models and eats expensive food and goes on exotic vacations. But it doesn't make him happy, it doesn't bring him joy. He never settles down with anyone he dates, he has NO real friends outside superhero business Tony Stark is a drunk and depression for most of his life, he can't relate to average people because he's so intelligent, not to mention his narcissism. The money they have is as much a curse as it is a blessing. If the Waynes weren't so rich then maybe they wouldn't have been robbed and killed. If Tony wasn't so rich maybe he wouldn't be so alone and depressed. (I don't know much about Oliver but I assume it's much of the same).

That's an interesting way to look at it. I've always just felt that Marvel heroes, with exceptions of course, are people you relate to - they're human with prejudices and everything else, and DC heroes are people you look up to - they're unrealistically 'good' people but there's merit in emulating that morality, even if you should discuss it.

I understand some of your points but you are basing everything on one episode istead of the actual show, and its not about relating to him, but to see his legacy and growth and you can connect with so many characters and backstories, not just Oliver .... and its called the arrowverse cuz all of the other dc shows are spin off from the arrow, and at the end of the day they are shows that play with the concepts of magic and metahumans and aliens, which of course is absurd but its entertainment Just a thought?

Actually the most interesting aspect of Batman is his internal conflict to not kill his villains when his villains are always getting him on the verge of killing. Its how he rides that line between killing and becoming a criminal and not doing so that is his interesting aspect.

I just started watching Arrow and so far it's been a slow moving show. There is nothing wrong with that but because of that, you can't really get a true feel for the show by watching just one episode.

To me, both the strength and the weakness of Arrow was that missing five years that they slowly filled in. The worst part was, after the five years was over, and they didn't have a clue what to do with it. I'm pretty sure that had a lot to do with why it was cancelled (that and the need to keep escalating every season). Still, I always saw the 'billionaire' part as less identify and more wish fulfillment.

That's because you're smart. I'm clearly a masochist because I just got into this show like two months ago, and I knew that season 4 was supposedly the worst thing ever. But I watched it anyways. I forced myself to watch it instead of just moving to s5 like was recommended. It was just so grating. and repetitive. They ran into Damien every single episode and EVERY SINGLE EPISODE they charged at him and he used the force on them. Oliver managed to look shocked by this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And then he beat him with the power of HOPE. Actual magic powers that he was able to use by thinking about Felicity. It was like I was watching Once Upon A Time. Idk who the hell thought any of what happened that season was a good idea.

Semi-true. Some of his comments are valid and never touched upon in the story like how within like a few days he has magical hacking arrows and grappling arrows and shit... but he also makes clearly uninformed comments too like unlimited arrows which is something that Queen is caught out by literally a few episodes in (some guy notices he only carries 20 with him and places one more man or something so there is this moment where he goes for an arrow and he’s just pinching the air)

Judging a show based on 1 episode😢 To understand what is going on you need to watch more episodes, the flashbacks will make it clear. Don't forget the show has 5 years worth of flashbacks before this episode so it's normal it seems a bit odd at first.

Yeah, I can give you that about the billionaire thing but then it would be hard to explain Batman having the Batcave, all the vehicles, gadgets, etc... without that wealth. Of course Green Arrow did lose his money (in the comics and this show) and still managed to operate so maybe my argument isn't as valid as I thought. :)

Lol I'm so glad I've found your channel. You make me laugh even on hard times. I love all the super hero shows (Arrow verse), and have found these all so funny. Just a hint for new discoverers. Most videos on a series are only about the first episode. Unless it says part 2. :P And it's not supposed to be serious, just for comedy. Though I will say one thing @Alex Meyers he doesn't actually have infinite arrows, though I think directors noted they needed to make it more obvious so they actually started making Oliver have to repeatedly comment on how he only has so many arrows. Like...24 or something?
