Gotham is a weird show... 

Gotham doesn't go downhill. It gets better and better.

Alfred is a badass, who managed to raise a teenager. A teenager who got chased by assassins, cloned by mad scientists, played detective, dated Selina Kyle, unwisely pissed of Selina Kyle, went through a slightly bratty stage, started running around the city at night, and KILLED HIM. And Alfred beat up half the fully trained assassins in the show. To this day, he is the only Butler I know of that carries around brass knuckles. And multiple guns. Getting attacked by psychopaths is their new normal.

Alfred's not annoying. He's just trying to be More than a guardian. Parent i think. But *I LOVE ALFRED*

Good to see all these people defending Gotham in the comments. I thought it was a great show: the mixture of more realistic noir detective elements, and surrealism, as well as the Mafia in season 1, made the show great in my opinion. Sure, season 3 was a little trashy, but it got good again, and I’ll always remember it as one of my favorite shows.

Gotham is honestly such a good show. I don't get how you think it's "weird." I highly enjoyed watching it and, is sad that their aren't more seasons...loved it!

As someone who's been really obsessed with Batman and has watched BTAS, TNBA, JLTAS, JLU, BB, and literally every Batman movie, including the Lego ones, I think that the reason people aren't really interested in Bruce Wayne is because all the see is his parents' deaths as his entire backstory. With Superman, he introduces a whole new planet, culture and powers, but Bruce is just human. But the truth is, Bruce is a lot more complicated than that. Unlike Clark, who doesn't really remember anything about Krypton, Bruce actually witnessed the murder of his parents. Even years later, he remembered it clear and vivid. Bruce was young and that kind of experience leaves permanent scars. The beauty of his backstory is despite its simplicity, Bruce couldn't cope with the trauma. He couldn't overcome and move on from that kind of loss. It's the emotional journey and therapy that being Batman provides for him, because Bruce said himself that wearing the cape and cowl kept him sane. He's emotionally broken and scarred, and was never really able to love anybody completely after that, except maybe Alfred and Dick Grayson, in spite of their many disagreements. But really, it's not just his scarring past that makes Bruce extremely interesting. It's some of personality traits that make him the best superhero in my eyes. He has an iron will. Bruce's determination is so strong, nothing can stop him. He has a sense of duty, and nothing has ever been able to keep him from doing what's right, with no concern about what happens to himself. While he can be intimidating or quick to anger, Bruce is extremely selfless and kind. He has adopted four orphans and donates to orphanages, wild life preserves, and environmental funds. Bruce is also incorruptible. Because of his genius intellect, a couple villains put Bruce under mind control to do their bidding. And each and every time, instead of having someone disable the mind control, Bruce eventually snaps out of it, sometimes without any help. This also demonstrates his iron willpower. While Batman has been taken hostage a few times as well, he's probably the best person to get kidnapped, because it doesn't matter how much pain anyone will make him go through. Bruce never tells. In fact, sometimes he does more damage as a captive than when he on the outside looking for a way in. However, I do agree with what Alex said about Gotham City. The thing about Gotham is that it's not a real city, so the creators could make it any way they wanted. I never enjoyed watching Superman or any other hero fight their villains, because besides Lex Luthor, you don't really know anything about any of the bad guys. You don't always get their motives or backstories unless it's detrimental to the plot. But Batman's villains are original, creative and enjoyable. Each one is carefully considered and each one has a past life we get to know about at some point. There are also so many of them, which makes them a lot more fun. With any other superhero, I see the same five bad guys every time. Batman has a variety of articulate and amazingly plotted baddies. You know and understand what they're like, what kind of voicing or acting someone has to have in order to play them (ahem, Mark Hamill as the Joker ALWAYS), and exactly what their motives are like. The best part about Gotham villains is that, just like Batman, they are complicated too. In Clark's stories, there's always a good and a bad. Right and wrong. But it's really more complex than that. For example Clayface, (Matt Hagen) is a former actor, and ever since he turned into a shapeshifting monster, all he's been doing is trying to find a way out. He wants a cure to go back to his regular life. The reason Batman prevents that from happening is because he illegally tries to obtain it. But his motive isn't bad. He's not blowing up the city or anything. He just wants to be normal again, and you really can't blame him for it. Same with Catwoman. Selina always had it rough, and she originally went into the crime business because she didn't have a choice. But she learned to love the thrill. She could never stay away from the life because it grew on her, and she didn't have to pretend to be one of those annoying rich party girls. She could be a sassy, bad*ss catlover, whatever she wanted. She could even cheer up Bruce sometimes, which is impressive. Eventually, Selina even gave up the life of crime (for the most part) and kind of became a part of the Batfamily. She wasn't exactly a hero. She'd show up whenever, help sometimes, which is how she sort of turned into an anti-hero. Congratulations if you made it all the way to the end. If not, well, gee, sorry for boring you.

My opinion Gotham is a great show it shows each build up of each character like Jerome/Jeremiah , Bruce and even Jim into the more known characters like joker and Batman... also Alfred is not annoying he is the best take that back :)

Actually it's still pretty good. They introduce joker. Kill him off a few times. Grow the romance between bruce and catwoman. Introduce doctor strange. The riddler goes crazy. Pretty good stuff except they keep aging ivy which I don't appreciate

She's nearly a doppelganger of young Michelle Pfeiffer, who played Catwoman in Tim Burton's 1992 "Batman Returns". It's the one with Michael Keaton as Batman and Danny DeVito as The Penguin.

No, this show doesn't fall off.... It only gets way better especially the latest season (4) which was by far the best with an incredible finale. The only reason reason 5 is the final season is because it airs on Fox and if you guys don't they canceled almost every good show they had Like Brooklyn 99 and Lucifer (both of which were saved later)

Taking Batman out of Batman. Lol yeah... I just recently got into watching the show and are about half way through season 2, but I gotta say, I’m completely hooked. It’s one of those shows that makes you fall in love with the villains. Oswald and Ed is, by far, two of my favorite characters of the show! Jerome too. All the while I don’t really care all that much for James... although Im quite looking forward and excited about Bruce’s storyline... For such a young actor, David Mazouz is doing an absolutely amazing job! It’s overall an impressive and talented cast, which is without a doubt makes the show so good and interesting!

Jerome and Jeremiah are still a better Joker duo than Jared tbh.

Just finished this series and I'm giving it a 9/10. I love Penguin's actor, The Riddler, even Jerome! Just love the drama, mysteries that keeps you on edge. Although I think it kind of felt off during Sofia Falcone's entrance and Nyssa Al Ghul... But it got back on track with an epic ending

Yeah Gotham is pretty weird but I think it fits the charm of the show. If you establish that it doesn't follow some canon elements from other batman lore and just accept the show as is then it is pretty enjoyable. It feels like the spiritual successor to Tim Burtons two films

I remember first watching the show, loved it. It has cheesy/cliché moments when it comes to the script and the villains acting at some points, and the plot sometimes gets messy or confusing because of the many subplots, but it's not enough to make me change to another show. although, I give most praise when it comes to casting and production bc WOW Selina Kyle looks like Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman, Cameron Monaghan did amazing as Jerome/Jeremiah, Bruce might actually get type-casted now as his role bc he does it so well like Daniel Radcliffe lol.

the thing about Gotham is that it's timeless. I like how it looks like it was made a long time ago and then someone pulls out a cellphone and then you are like where the fuck did that come from. Timeless baby!!!! Also that Jeremiah dude is the bomb.

I've never been a fan of the whole super-hero movies/series craziness because I always find the stories extremely predictable but Gotham actually gets more and more interesting with each season and they make some amazing plot twists. Just give it a chance,it is full of comic book logic moments but I think it's still the best superhero show out there

Me an intellectual that watches Gotham from the minute he started talking "you ain't seen nothing yet". I mean he hasn't seen anything. Penguin becoming powerful and at one point killing his siblings that he didn't know he had, cooking them and giving them to their mother to eat them, the riddler going completely crazy, Bruce becoming Batman, Lee, Doctor Strange, and of course Gordon's girlfriend becoming a maniac but still loving him, Tabitha and her stupid brother, Zsasz, Jerome with his stapled face and my absolute favourite (just kidding) Allison from teen wolf coming along and a guy that makes meat pies from people. Yayyy! Gotham is such a great show... Sorry for the spoilers.
