What I like the most about this video is the detail of the actual assembling of the shed plus the discussions about errors and more difficult sections

@Jimmy P We try to show what it's like to do this when you don't have a lot of experience assembling things, but you still need a quality shed. 👍

@@BeingBarton What size did you actually make the wooden deck? I am going to buy the 10 x 8 shed. Not sure if the deck size needs to be a little bigger than the shed. Thanks
@BeingBarton
@BeingBarton 2 года назад
@@edwardtrudeau5523 Our foundation is 8 x 10. The wood sheets came in 4ft x 8ft measurements, so we just put 2 and a half sheets down. It worked. We have a foundation building video that talks more about the base. It's long, though. 🙈😅

I just assembled this exact shed by myself. Clamps, Step ladder and a little duct tape to hold the screw head in place. (The step ladder was my other person) and I assembled the back first, then the front. Easy peasy. I did enjoy this video BTW. Thanks

@RuuthieWrangler Nice! We appreciate your comment. The duct tape idea is a winner. It's good to have some experienced voices out here offering encouragement. Assembling these sheds can be done! Even if your other person is a ladder. 😉

Thanks for the upload. Not something that can be assembled in a few hours.. The last time I built one of these sheds was 40 years ago and now I will be assembling one again. You gave lots of good hints. Making a few assembly mistakes are typical, i bet the second one went up much faster.. One thing I remember doing was not tightening all the wall screws, which allowed me to jiggle the walls a bit to make the screw holes line up. Finally tightens them up at the end. I had also figured out to use a vise grip to hold the nuts and clamps to hold the walls when assembling. I also added vents with screen to keep the bugs out in the gables to keep it cooler in the summer. Thanks again for the upload.
@BeingBarton
@BeingBarton 3 года назад
@covercalls88 Oh, adding vents is such a good idea! 💡 Very nice. And waiting to tighten the screws all the way is a really good tip. We had so much trouble getting the roof panels to screw in on that first shed! 😂 The second one was so much faster/better. It's amazing what a little bit of experience can do. 🕺

We finished our 8 X 10 Shed over Three days. 1st day or afternoon I built the deck and got in level , 3 hrs. Second day Starting at 9 am , Wife did the lay down while I mowed the 2 acres we live on. about 11 am we started doing the bottom frame , took two hours and stopped for the day. Day Three we started at 9 am worked till noon took a lunch break that turned into a major rain delay. Started again at 3:00 and worked until 8 pm to finish except for the edge trim,About an 8 hour day . It is pouring rain today So no finishing, the project is weather tight . We are both 72 and in good health and have done many projects together . This is doable and you need to be organized. The printed numbering for material will rub and wash off so Protect it from rain. Follow the instructions even when they seem confusing. Listen to your wife,, She is most often correct. Videos were excellent and answered many of our questions and made project much easier. Appreciate the advise in the written material cautioning to stop before starting to put up sides unless you had time and energy to complete project. We could have gone on after laying down the frame but would have been hungry, angry and tired if we had continued on and tried to complete in one day. We have 50+ years of working on projects together and really enjoy the project. Oh, did I mention this project was built during the Covid 19 isolation

I bought this shed a couple days ago. Have nothing but regrets! It took me 2 days just to get the floor finished. Leveling an uneven sloped area is some back breaking work! I finally started assembling the shed today. Its extremely flimsy, and the instructions aren't that great. Been a total pain and so disappointed!!! I'm halfway done I think. If I thought my husband would be ok with helping tear it down. boxing it up and loading it back up to return I would do it in a heartbeat. Y'all make it look easy and seem very happy, our experience was quite different! The video helped some. Thanks

@Jamie Nunnery Ugh! I do understand. Aaron did NOT want to do this project. At all. Not before. Not during. My mom was in her last days with pancreatic cancer. She wanted these sheds. It was the last thing we did together outside of the house...shopping at the local Home Depot for them. We took months, Lord help us. It was so hard. The box was so heavy. The instructions were confusing. It was a difficult time, and we just tried to appreciate not being alone, essentially.

I wanna rest standing up too....because of that angry Squirrel....lol Thanks for sharing....I'm going to need the help because in exchange for all the mechanic work my buddy has done on my vehicles over the years, I agreed to layout the stringers, escavate for gravel and set into concrete premade pier blocks, draft and then asseble a floor, before I then actually put the shed together. Suggestion to all. Silicone around the entire base inside and out, as well as other gaps or holes with hardware that might allow water inside. And along the bottom, in between the existing by design holes, I recomend using some self taping sheet metal screws to add aditionl securements so things aren't as flimsy in the wind. Also, some of the larger gaps where air is flowing to freely, can be filled with small amounts of spray foam....it really expands so think 1/3 then you're filling.

@BeingBarton
@BeingBarton 4 года назад
@Jessica Tee You can definitely do it! The second shed I put together in a couple of weeks mostly by myself...and it would have been a 3 day project at most if I were able to fully dedicate to the assembly. I didn't include some of how I did it in this video...but there were times I screwed panels together or wall channels in place holding the sections together from the inside and screwing outward (against the instructions). I also found longer screws when attaching the roof panels...screws that are designed to hold drawer handles on. Longer screws held the panels together, allowing me to get down from the ladder and put the nut on the screw/bolt without the pieces separating. If you have any questions or could use advice/encouragement, we are here! Crossing my fingers for you, friend. 🤞

@MikSane The leveled pavers sound really nice! I would still anchor this shed, though. We live in the South, and the weather can bring really high winds. Pro tip… Seal the bottom of your floor and the top of your floor and save yourself a ton of headaches money and time having to replace the floor in a couple years!! Even if you have pressure-treated wood it won’t last a couple Canadian winters! I learned this the hard way. Also seal with caulking underneath the entire shed to keep rain or water from pooling into your shed sitting and rotting. I am not looking forward to redoing my floor🤦‍♂️ even better pro tip, don’t buy this type of shed, build your own with a wood frame and complete metal sides and roof. It will last a lifetime and is about 10 times easier to do. Plus you’ll never have to deal with those stupid tiny screws and nuts in the dermis most difficult locations. Any men will have trouble with the screws with big hands

@evildug b The sheds we bought came with a 'bonus' floor framing kit...and it really did add quite of bit a stability to the floor. I feel better storing heavy things like ceramic molds and oak logs without worrying about the floor bowing. One of the sheds we built the additional floor in, the other one we didn't. It's personal preference, I think.

Love the video. What size did you actually make the wood deck? Is it a litter bigger than the 10 x 8 shed size?
@BeingBarton
@BeingBarton 2 года назад
@Edward Trudeau The flooring measures to exactly 8 x10. Ideally, you would have a base that's slightly larger than the shed...but we purchased 2 of the 4ft x 8ft sheets and then had a sheet cut down to 2ft to get the 8x10 base. We have a video that shows our base assembly, and we talk about the size of the panels around the 12min mark. 😃👍

@BeingBarton
@BeingBarton 3 года назад
@TPiz 4Shiz Our intention was to build an 8x10 base...but I didn't account for the inches added when screwing the edges together. I also didn't check the exact length of the 10ft beams before screwing them in. I shared about that at the 11:30 timestamp in the foundation building video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SvSA5PBTmFs.html. 🙈

Why you decided to build a floor in one of them?
@BeingBarton
@BeingBarton 3 года назад
@Yury Kerimov Both of our shed kits came with metal rails to use as supports under a platform floor...but we didn't need to use them because we built a sturdy platform base for each shed. Even though we didn't need to build a floor on top of the platform, I wanted to try out the rails that came with the kit. 😅

@Elver Gudo Hi. The floor frame was the last piece in our assembly...so I am a bit confused. Maybe your directions are different? Or I might be just not understanding what you mean by continuing with the assembly. Have you constructed the walls and the roof yet?

@BeingBarton
@BeingBarton 3 года назад
@@av01230 Right. Okay. My hubby said that's a tough call. It's a good sign that the holes aligned...that's my gut feeling. This shed requires a bit adjusting to get things lined up all throughout the build. We kept shifting the sides all the way up until we put in the floor kit that goes in at the end...I do remember that our box came with a floor framing kit that they called a 'bonus'...so I am assuming that you are referring here to the bottom section of the shed that runs along all 4 sides. In our build, if we had put in the metal sections that run under the floor in BEFORE attaching the walls and the roof, there is no way the shed would have gone together. You have to have flexibility to shift the shed when lining up each piece. Does that make sense?
