Hey Charles,we got our man,Callafiori is a gooner!!What struck me from the interviews he has made is the confidence and the aura. Its seems he really wanted to join Arsenal,he speaks like a man who is on a mission. At 22 y/o,he speaks with confidence and clarity, can't wait to see him play.
I truly believe we will win the league this year and I have not thought like that for a long long long time. I am 70 and would love to see it before I pop my clogs. COYG NLIR.
I am 48 and remember us beating Liverpool with a michael thomas goal to win the league on the last day. 88,89 season. Then won again 90,91 season conceding only 18 goals. Yeah this season looks very promising indeed ❤
Chris, sending love from United States. I love watching your shows on morning walks. I have a concern about Jesus's ability to stay onside. In the United match I didn't even have to look at replay to declare he was offside. Can someone please let him know to learn this. I know he's a striker but that just shuts the attack down.
Most of the times he does not even run past defenders off the ball to be caught offside 😂would rather have him keep those runs at risk of sometimes being off
Hi Charles. Mixed day this one. Glad to see Calafiori officially in Arsenal colors. But, I know you've made your peace with it, but it hurts to see ESR go-- knowing how he and Saka helped begin this Arsenal revolution, and knowing how good he really is. ((Sigh)) All the best to him! -- Nathan (USA)
Hi Charles, been watching you for about 2years now keep up the good work, and hello from the Brantford Ontario Canada sooner, now we have Califiori ithink Timber can actually replace Party in midfield,Nwaneri Salah and Haven are real good prospects Ateta has his hands full I'm loving it cheers
Evening everyone .. starting to see why this kid was given his debut at 15…really exciting to have Ethan around for next season. Think he’ll play domestic cups and get plenty of minutes as a PL sub… don’t forget Cesc was his age when Arsene started to play him in the invincible side
Chalres i am sure you have seen Arsenal being linked to Leroy Sane. Cannot believe the negativ reaction from Arsenal fans. Yes he had some up and downs in Germany and injury stalled his career. But, he just thrashed us in the 1st leg of last season champions league quarter final and he was also the standout performer against Real Madrid in the semi final. Bringing someone like Sane would definitely help us in big games and decisive moments.
Ethan Nwaneri has played excellent, but what about Salah? He was the one I was mostly impressed with. Great ball control and awareness in the middle of the park. Great in transition, too, moving the ball forward. Partey has no rival in that regard, maybe Salah can be that guy.
Define regular minutes? Nwaneri will be developing from the bench because he will be watching and learning. Similar to what Pep did with Foden. Remember how the media were furious with Pep for taking his time with Foden I see a similar progression with Ethan. He will probably start league cup games and come on/off in some PL games probably around 15 games in all. Which at 17 is perfectly fine. We all need to calm down and just let him develop. Pre-season is a different ball game to actual competitive minutes when the pressure is high.
Problem is when the game is done and dusted, there are bit part first team players also needing minutes. Do you give the minutes to them or bring on a youngster. It's a tight balance and we are going to have to trust Arteta on when he thinks the youngster is ready.
Ethan is probably the reason we are going for a Merino and not a world class LCM who is gonna limit his minutes even more. Would love to see some of these transfers wrapped up a bit more quickly though, more work to do and time is running out slowly but surely
If we can get merino for 20m and ruiz on loan id love it....ruiz can play the odegaard role with one slight tweek(who presses up top in our 442 system without the ball)....then one rw would be amzing and i think if eddie and reis leave we are golden
Hello from Louisville, KY USA. Big fan Charles. I just wanted to say that I understand putting some blame for Martinelli’s form last year on the lack of consistency on the left side. However, Trossard managed 12 goals typically from that position so some responsibility has to be on Gabi.
Hi Charles, Arteta is risk-averse when it comes to developing our bright young talent. Unai Emery and Freddie Ljungberg introduced Martinelli, Saka, and Smith Rowe to the Arsenal first team. So far we have seen little regarding the development of our Academy players under Arteta and maybe this was a consideration when Obi Martin decided to leave! Nwaneri has been superb on our USA tour and I'm very interested to see what Arteta's plans are for him. Will he trust the player and take a leaf out of Ten Hag's development of Kobbie Mainoo and play him? He's ready for first-team action and a ready-made solution for the number 8 position.
Morning Charles, yourself and other content creators have talked about 'raising the ceiling', 'raising the floor'. From last season imo the ceiling and the floor has been raised in defence with Calafiori and Timber, it appears likely the midfield ceiling will be raised too and if we can raise the floor on a versatile wide player it'll be an excellent transfer window. When I look at Man city and where they can improve with potentially who's available in the market, I struggle to see them raise their squad's ceiling - their floor has always been high, the highest in the league and has been obviously key to their sucess. I don't know how you feel but I do wonder if their current team is slightly over their peak? What's left to win, older squad, rumours of players leaving, Pep's future etc With the 2024 form, the momentum we have, the fact we have and continue to try and raise the floor and ceiling, it just feels our trajectory is on the up and I think we'll over take them. It might be an unpopular opinion with other clubs fans, although they'll try they can't deny that Arsenal football club with Mikel with what he's doing and how he's transformed the team isn't absolutely brilliant. Extremely exciting times ahead! Cheers, Phill.
Pity Arteta did not play ESR! Merino is a waste of money. It looks like we are selling ESR for less than we wasted on Vieira. We need to have an upgrade in manager, get someone who plays a squad.
Charles or anyone else in the comments, do you think that Timber could play defensive midfield.? Also I would love to keep Partey even if we could get 15 to 20 league games out of him. What do you think?
20 or 2. Cos 2 might be closer to the mark. He still looks less than optimally fit or mobile. If Saudi payed 10 million and save 13 in wages tgats quite a bit to play with.
Good morning Charles, Driving back from Preston visiting the outlaws. Drivibg back to Brighton. Listening to you is making the trip less painful. I wanted to ask. What's the situation with Ramsdale? Im shocked nobody has snapoed him up. Also, Ramsdale didn't play at the euros, so why was he given the same time off as Saka and Rice. If we can't sell Aaron, we should keep him as our no 2. Keep up the good content.
I think we were lucky last season with the amount of injuries. We had a lot less than other teams and I feel that this season we could get exposed for slim squad depth, especially with ESM leaving.
In the club's video of Edu showing Timber around Colney last year, much was made of the "Golden Moments" wall where they posted stills from particular highlights (Nelson's winner, Ramsdale's save against Liverpool, etc.). Do you think there are any moments from this last season that have since made the wall?
Hey Charles, thanks for the content! With the transfer rumours still swirling, it looks like we're set to spend less than previous years if it's Calafiori, Merino, one forward player and a backup keeper. Do you think that will end up being the case? With big sales this summer, it feels like we do have room to spend more, but maybe aren't planning on it.
I think you should give more consideration to Calafiori competing for a place with Gabriel rather than Timber. Not immediately but I suspect sometime in the season that will be the case. Being so accomplished on the ball as a CH Calafiori with Saliba, Timber and White will be a technically gifted backline to play through the press. Gabriel was the least comfortable in that regard last season. Arteta looks for incremental improvements and imo Calafiori will improve the side in this regard. If he proves his defensive capabilities in the EPL then Gabriel will be the one looking over his shoulder.
Jesus feels good now. Lets see in 3 months. I would livecto see Jesus have a full season but doubting that is ever going to happen with us. If its fot on form Jesus for most of season we donneed a stiker. And he can play on the roght too to spell Saka with Havertz in middle. Pacey attacker would be nice but midfield priority atm
Hi Charles, promising times at the club for both the men + women (esp. with great signings like Calafiori + Caldentey, the departure of Emma Hayes + potential departure of Pep). Do you know if any English or European club has ever won both the men’s + women’s titles in the same season and if so if they do a joint parade? Here’s to a great season and keep up the coverage of both teams + the academy. GOYG
This is why we have to play the youth. Arteta’s hand has been forced by the euros and we’ve benefitted. We see those who are ready like Hein, Nwaneri and MLS, and we see the upcoming talents like Heaven and Salah. It pays to play youth
@@isaacjacobs3785there are so many games we are 2 nill up at half time , those are the games to play the youths , pep was playing rico Lewis & Oscar bob those kids has already won the league twice
Hi Charles, hope you are well! Is there any truth in the Chiesa rumours? All i've seen is him continually linked to Spu*s and numerous edited pictures of him in their shirt on socials. I think he would be an absolute steal if we are in for him and would love to see him at the Carpet. He is versatile, and can play in a number of positions and Juve are apparently keen on a sale. On top of all of this we have the opportunity to laugh at Spur*s once more if we signed him over them. Win win right?
Hi Charles, do you think if we have Jesus fit and Arteta has confidence in him, do you see him and Kai competing for the striker role, or do you see Jesus up front and Havertz being put back in midfield with Rice back in Partey's role?
Hi Charles, What are your thoughts on Merino's position if he were to join? Do you believe he will be joining strictly as a left sided 8 (his more natural position) - this either means he will be rotation for Rice or Rice will be playing 6 to accommodate him. I believe there's a chance Arteta could develop him into a 6, someone to be a deep lying playmaker who can receive, turn and play forward whilst being press resistant. It seems strange to put Rice back at 6, where he sometimes struggles to play those progressive forward passes and especially after last season where he dominated as an 8. Let me know your thoughts and keep up the great content! Lawrence
Morning Charles, Our squad is best in premier league but how will Mikel keep everyone happy? IF Partey, Timber, martinelli & Jesus stay fit they are worthy of being in starting 11 & will have plenty minutes. I personally think there is no better players available that would come in and take their shirt if the stay fit.We are only selling fringe players , 3 out with Calafiori in massive upgrade to the squad. Any other transfer target surely would only be addition to already quality squad, names mentioned / who's available wouldn't get into starting 11.......let's have a debate IF all players fit along with couple promising academy players needing minutes list your starting 11 and players who would have minutes from bench!! There are going to be some quality players disappointed .It's going to be exciting 2024/ 25
Hi Charles, with the implementation of the PSR regulating team expenditures, could this potentially benefit Premier League clubs? Given that many European teams might no longer be able to overprice their players, do you think this could lead to more reasonable transfer fees?
Don’t you think that a 3 at the back with Califiori, Gabriel and Saliba - with wing backs of Timber and White offers Arsenal the most potent attacking option as well as strength at the back ?
Help me out here Charles. Why do we play potential title rivals like Utd and Liverpool in friendlies where they have added incentive to injure our players before the season starts? Surely the commercial revenue cant be worth the risk? Why dont we play European teams like we used to. Also a fit Jesus, Partey, Timber plus the youthful fearlessness of Nwaneri will feel like top new signings next season- let's go!
Not sure that it is a difficult decision. Play the lad. You can see how it will end up. Nwaneri and Odegard playing absolute merry chaos with the best defences in the world. Within a season they will be the best 8's in the world. Imagine those two with Havertz or jesus dropping in Saka to the right and Martinelli to the left! I cannot see how you defend against them. Nwaneri is the real deal, my only critisism is that he needs to pass a bit more firmly, that is so normal when players leave devellopment football and usually takes no more than half a douzen starts to resolve.
Looks like it's pretty much a done-deal now. Sincere thanks ESR for your time at Arsenal and all the efforts you gave, and all the best to you at Fulham (except when you play us). On a club that's basically filled with great young lads, it can be argued that you were an archetype in that regard! And welcome Riccardo Calafiori!
Hi Charles, At the tail end of last season a backup for Saka seemed like the most important piece of business we could make this summer but everything has gone a bite quiet on that front. Whats the deal with that? With the hype around Jesus’s return, do you think this is no longer a priority?
Hi Charles What do you think of Timer as a 6? We need to compete for the league,Fa cup and UCL WE need to keep fire in all of that competitions Angelo Cape Town South Africa
Hi Charles, What’s your view on signing Chiesa? £21 million sounds like a great deal as he can play both on the right (cover for Saka) and left wings. Could even do a deal with Kiwior?
Why is it you you tube jockeys keep referring to pep. Arteta is his own man with his own ideas , he worked as a coach with guardiola and under wenger as well as the old West Ham manager he’s obviously taken ideas from them all
To be honest, maybe Arteta is holding out on the contract to make sure the board give him ehat he needs to succeed this season. Only sign once business has been done. Just a thought
Last season’s banana skin was the awful Christmas and New Year period when all of a sudden teams knew how to play against Arsenal. We were a predictable one trick pony and were made to suffer for it. We have sooo many first team players going into the 24/25 season that we could field a different team most weeks and really keep the opposition guessing. I cannot wait for season start! COYG!!
We are a one trick pony, sideways and backwards till boredom sets in. I would rather have decent attack, entertain, even lose 4:3 than play boring Arteta ball, and losing 1:0 or 2:0 Like Villa. last season.
Hey Charles, what are your thoughts on us maybe trying to sign Memphis Depay on a free transfer for this season? He is still a class finisher and could be a nice cheaper alternative to add depth at the striker position so we can use a majority of our funds on a midfielder and winger. I know his wages would be expensive with no transfer fee but I imagine this would still cost us much less than it would cost to buy a younger striker. And of course it would have to be on a 1 or 2 year max deal to make sense for us. I saw a twitter post listing all of the notable free agents available currently which is why I thought about this. Also, if we fail to sign either/both of Merino and Ruiz, Rabiot on a free would not be a bad option for that left 8 position. Would love to hear your thoughts on these 2 players. Love the videos as always!
Hi Charles, Ethan has been amazing so far and 100% deserves regular minutes in the first team this season. It’s time Arteta gives him a chance it’s clear he’s ready!!
Let Nwaneri develop naturally. We don't need to hype him up so much now. It is so early in his development. We don't need to put him on a pedestal he has not earned yet.
We really need to calm down with the "New toy" mentality. Our players, most of them, are getting into their "Prime age" yet we are talking about selling them all. I would keep Nketia if we are not getting this type of striker we are targeting this season. I wouldn't be breaking Bank for Williams, Trosard and Martinelli are still top players. Bring in a midfielder 8 and a somewhat young right winger to backup Saka. The defense is way more solid now. The players are a year older and stronger. We Need To Calm Down 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️🔴⚪️🔴
Gk: Raya, Bentley and someone else but if Ramsdale stays its fine Lb: calafiori and alex Lcb: gabriel, kiwior Rcb: saliba, timber/tomi Rb: white, timber/tomi Cdm(6): jorgi, partey, ruiz also rice Left 8: rice, merino, ethan Right 8: martin, viera, ruiz or ethan Lw: gabi, trossard St: havertz, jesus Rw: saka, chiesa/bakayoko
We should have a new song at matches, sung to the tune of 'Who Want's To Be A Millionaire', but with the words changed to "Who Want's to Be An Invincible, I DO!"
Hey Charles, love your program and I look forward to your videos daily. But you're beginning to irritate me with thinking Rice is a better option than Partey as our 6, whenever Rice was used there last season the team struggled. He always had to be chasing people and he can't control games. Its Partey, Jorginho then Rice for that position, I'd even through Timber there before Rice. Declan should be our left 8 where he has the engine to go up and down that left side. Big up!
Looking at Nwaneri, for example, makes me believe this young man is good enough for The Arsenal 1st team. I wonder if M A will do anything like he did for Saliba with loans
At this point why would Calafiori fly out to the US? To participate in 1 training session? Not for me. Save yourself the jet lag, go house shopping, visit the training center, and meet the lads when they get back.
With nwaneri you need to look at the other youngsters that have been playing, yamal is playing too many games, gavi pedri and ansu fati have suffered several injuries from playing way too many games at a young age, even guller has had 2 very very bad injuries before shining in the euros due to playing several games in the Turkish league….we need to slow down, he’s very talented but actually doesn’t need to play all the time just yet, he’s only 17 he’s got plenty of time to grow and start in the first team
If We get Merino, 8th place finish guaranteed! Backward signing. No contract for Arteta, we need to upgrade manager, we upgraded Ramsdale to rRaya, now we need a manager who can manage a SQUAD!
"He's like a new signing" only annoys a lot of Arsenal fans because of how Wenger abused it back in the day instead of actually signing new players. 🤣🤣
