What a wonderful series this is. I think I love the less formal aspect of the way you present in these sessions. Your love of your collections shines through. I had not heard of Cedric Morris, what a loss to me. Now I appreciate his work and understand the issue of perspective as he uses it. I do love the home you have and the ease you have living in it. Do keep up this series, it is the highlight of my day in isolation. Kind regards from Melbourne Australia.

Just stumbled upon these. Wishing I had known about your wonderful series during lockdown here in NZ. I have noticed in many parts of the world, Sow thistle is often called Milk thistle. It is one of the less maligned of the weeds, not being particularly invasive, or worrisome and being enjoyed as a treat by most grazing animals. It is a good plant to have in paddocks as it provides nutrients that grasses and clovers do not necessarily contain due to a difference in root depth. The leaves are particularly soft and succulent and attract sheep, cattle, horses, rabbits, hares, and most other herbivores. They are basically free of prickles which I am sure adds to the attraction to animals. These plants can be easily handled without gloves, where as a Scotch or Californian thistles require decent protection for a gardener's hands!

This is so much better than real television. I just love these informal and intimate glimpses into your beautiful home and fascinating art collection. Thank you for sharing your passion and vast knowledge of art and artists. I read the previous comment from a watercolour artist from Vancouver Island and coincidentally I too am a watercolour artist and teacher on Vancouver Island in Canada, but your home and garden remind me of my father’s house in Suffolk not far from Willy Lott’s Cottage.

in the times now we actually have time to reflect on art , its influence in our lives and its presence in our homes too. I dabble in painting and though far from being any good it does soothe the spirit..Learning about paintings and the painters is always a great experience and i love your approach and passion to how you tell us about your artworks in your home..sadly i live in a rental and most my paintings and lithographs are now in storage..my husband passed away about a year ago..between him and me we accumulated a lot of artwork.which was hung in our lovely five bedroom period home..sadly i couldnt afford to keep on the house after his death...not valuable art but ones that spoke to us and became meaningful.. i am truly loving watching your videos..love to you from melbourne australia also in isolation..

Philip just discovered your series and how wonderful to hear you describing your personal tastes and your personal art collection. Am sure everyone will agree that this is a great lift to our days sitting out the world we have suddenly found ourselves thrown into. Lost my partner to cancer, aged only 56, in early Feb, friend said I must take you to Paris and immense you in the Louvre and the d'Orsay to help you come to terms that life must go on. We left just before the "lockdown", but did come back with CV or at least GPs states symptoms match. Recovered now. Many thanks again, as we are going to have another 3 weeks, minimum, hopefully another 15 films still to come. Best Wishes and keep safe, Simon

Thank you for showing me Cedric Morris, his work is a revelation to me! I never heard of him before, perhaps because I can't stand Lucian Freud (cold, creepy, dismal paintings). The landscapes put me in mind of the warped perspective in William Robinson, Australian painter. Thanks again!!

You cannot but admire the English style , that slightly messy layered yet elegant style that signifies the look. No shiny chic, no nod to high fashion, just comfort and quality. Compare to the American equivelent of Philippe, with matchy matchy intérieurs and tons of bed pillows and of course huge rooms !! Love this house and the gardens are of course even better and even more English ! Thank you for the fascinating content too. Hugs from France.

Thank you so much Philip & Oliver for making these videos for us to joy. Very interesting episode again. Cedric Morris has been totally unknown artist to me until now. These videos bring so much inspiration to learn and read more about artists and their production. About thistles... I love photographing thistles. At the beginning of the summer they make you smile, later on they make you cry. For a moment they cheer you up as they look like 80s punk rockers with pink spikehair. But little later on you'll get to know its nasty nature when crying & trying to remove those "hooks" from your dog’s long fur - I have experienced it a few times. Thank god scissors were invented ;-)

There is something about his designs that always attracts me when searching for fabrics or wall coverings, and when I pounce on my choices they are most likely to be a Morris.

@Philip Mould & Co. It's a Freud?! I was almost 100% certain that it was a Dürer; Dürer or possibly Basilius Besler. Well, We learn something new every day! I was just about to go bonkers when I discovered your videos! I am an artist, a former teacher of art with children ( if one can ever be a ‘former’ teacher), and have loved Art History from childhood with a Dad who encouraged it and a brother who was an Art Historian himself. I even tried my hand, still try, to learn botanical art from a dear and famous Botanical Artist and British gentleman, who just happens to live nearby, in of all places, Fairhope, Alabama. Derek teaches wonderful classes at our Botanical Gardens in Mobile. AL. Since my first tune-in to your episodes was #8, I was immediately taken by your information about Cedric Morris. However, I could not get on to Episode 9 as my computer took me directly to episode 10. I had three guesses of where the little red church on the hill was but will I ever know for sure? Greece, Spain, maybe Italy?? Anyway, will move on to episode 10 and more fun. Thanks for helping unbonker me!Love your home, by the way.
