Partly because I have rarely had any studio space to work in for one reason or another and, later in my life trying to find small things I can do as I work through a lot of depression and pain. You helped to wake something up that I hadn't thought about like you have so I have found some motivation! I hope this will lead me to something bigger but in the mean time I can take small steps. I saw this bag in one of your other videos that you linked. Thank you so much I went and got one myself. I’m in Australia and it is absolutely a godsend for when I am travelling. I finally have a bag that can take all the different things I want but is also easier to transport with my chronic pain issue. Also, thank you for the update of your nest. I love the idea of doing this myself.

Thank you Linda. This is a really nice video. I had a knee replacement and had supplies all over the place. I'll blame the pain killers to figure out a basket or something might help😅 I'm not a tv watcher so is a nice way to be with Ray and my westie Garvin and be doing art. I love hair on my clothes. Your content has been so helpful to me. Just joined patreon. I can't afford much, but I can afford $5. Hope your husband's surgery goes well. I am facing surgery myself in a few weeks - a shoulder replacement. I am most grateful that it isn't on my dominant arm. I am in the process of creating a mobile art nest thanks to your content. I am not sure if I am going to spend more time in the recliner, (which I am rarely in right now) or if my little studio area will suffice. I suspect I will need a spot to put my feet up though. for the first few weeks at least. I am fortunate to live in a single story so I don't have to worry about exhausting climbs up and down the stairs for anything. I would have never thought of creating a little sanctuary for myself if it weren't for you. Thank you!

I was thinking of putting together a few little project kits because I have all sorts of crafts on the go that I can never be bothered setting up because I don’t have a studio space so I’m constantly setting up and having to pack away again. In other words…everything. I know if I got good and comfy with the tray and all that, I’d suddenly need something just out of reach and then everything falls on the floor😂
These are the things that I put in my art nest and this is the set up that works for me. I just share different variations of my art nest to help encourage other disabled artists to create their own art nest. Everyone needs to create a set up that works well for them. Ideally I’d like to have one of those little bedside tables on wheels that I could just push aside.
Question I thought you had two watercolor sets of pencils in your art nest. Derwent and Fabre Castel. What’s the diffffference in the sets and or maybe difference in purpose. I’m thinking of getting watercolor pencils to sketch with before I paint. Sorry if this is jumbled up question.
The only full set that I have in my art nest is the Faber Castell watercolor pencils. I have a couple of Derwent Inktense pencils, but they are extremely strong, so I don’t think they are what you would be looking for for what you describe.
I always hear people say that they never dump their paint water out on the ground and that they always bring it back with them. My question is what do they do then to dispose of the water? Do they dump it down the sink? It seems then that dumping it down the sink, if you are on a sewer system, ensures that the contaminants go into the water supply since water from your sink is piped to the water treatment facility and the heavy metals or contaminants will not be removed/filtered out. Water that goes to a water treatment facility is usually discharged into a river or the ocean. The next town downstream may have an intake from the same river. It seems to me that it might be best to actually dump it on site so that it can be absorbed into the ground. What do you think? I am looking for the approach that that has the least impact on humanity and the environment.
Please do not dump your paint water on-site. There’s a lot of information and articles on the web about this subject that can help you make an educated decision.
Question: Can you store liquid gouache (such as the M. Graham or Holbein) in the metal Art Tool Kit Folio case? Does it dry up like the dry water color? Not sure if that's what I am seeing in your video..
I use the small metal Art Toolkit palettes for dry gouache and watercolor. The plastic Transon palette is airtight and I store my wet gouache in there. Because the small metal palettes are not airtight they’re only good for using with dry paints. Thanks for watching!
I suffer from depression and anxiety. I'm wanting to start an art nest too. I've been dealing with art block for months. I also recently lost my job as well. I have a autoimmune disease too. Lots going on....any tips for me on how to get started again and stay motivated?
If you join my Patreon you could try doing the exercise we are doing together. If not you can watch my videos on RU-vid for suggestions. Perhaps you could watch the one on making a gratitude journal. There are so many videos between my RU-vid and Patreon with ideas and suggestions. My biggest advice is to just get started. Just pick up a pencil, a paint brush, or a marker and make marks without worrying about results.
@BeginnersMind-ArtMind thank you. I would definitely try the patreon maybe when a have another job. I've been doing a lot of watching between your channel, sandi hester, lazyredhead and a few others. I just have problems getting started. I like the gratitude journal idea though.
@@meganhardy6983I definitely recommend watching less and creating more. I have lots of videos that talk about how to get started. You really do need to push yourself out of a block at first. It can be challenging, but once you start creating again, your creative flow will return. Don’t worry so much about what you create, just start creating… Anything is better than nothing.
