This morning at 1:47 am, NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket launched from Kennedy Space Center to begin the Artemis 1 mission. This is now the world's most powerful rocket, lifting off the new Orion capsule as a test for a future crewed mission to the Moon. Our own Curator of #Astronomy, Seth Mayo, captured the amazingly powerful launch from NASA's press site about 3 miles away from the pad.
The slow motion video was captured through an 8-inch #Cassegrain telescope and manually tracked as #SLS barreled through the very early morning sky. Congratulations to #NASA and everyone involved to make this astounding achievement possible. Stay tuned as we follow along with this mission over the next 25 days.
