Welcome to the official Laver Cup RU-vid channel. Laver Cup Vancouver 2023 runs from September 22-24 at Rogers Arena. The tournament takes place for the sixth time and features some of the best players in the world. Björn Borg captains Team Europe, consisting of Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Hubert Hurkacz, Gael Monfils, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Arthur Fils. John McEnroe captains Team World, consisting of Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Francisco Cerundolo and Ben Shelton. Team Europe’s vice captain is Thomas Enqvist and Team World’s vice captain is Patrick McEnroe. Team World are the reigning champions after winning at London 2022.

😂 - Definitely a first for me & I’ve been watching this sport for a long old time. Seen plenty players produce an air shot when the ball kicks up funny off the line but never because they hit it with their opposite hand as they start their swing motion

What was the selection criteria for team Europe? I never heard of Fils before this tournament. He is ranked 44.

They assemble the best players they can based on availability I think. Europe player pool much weaker than previous years: obv no Federer, Nadal on injury recovery, Djokovic Alcaraz Medvedev Zverev chose not to play I assume... Murray chose to not play I assume... this is what you are left with. Europe won loads before because they had Big 3, Murray, Zverev, Thiem etc.

@@KingCast65The numbers say that he lost every match he played. You seriously think that Fils deserved a spot on the team more than say: Rune, Tsitsipas, Sinner, or Zverev (not to mention Medvedev or Alcaraz)??

And if you watch carefully, his swing would have sent the ball to the open court on the forehand side, most likely producing a winner or a very difficult strech volley. That's hilarious by the way😂

Team Europe made an embarrasing tournament this year. This demonstrates that only Nadal, Djokovick, Alcaraz, Mevdeved and two or three more players, are really competitive and good in all Europe...

@@PQV-8898 Djokovic didn't play, neither did Alcaraz. Medvedev was out, Zverev and Tsitsipas too. Last year Federer was retiring at the age of 41, Nadal was completely busted with his injuries and Murray had already been a cyborg for years. Except for Djokovic, no one was in good form. But despite all that, it was a competitive cup. This year's edition was comic relief. In team Europe only Ruud showed up.
