I have a theory that, much like how enemy tanks' roofs triggers the VT fuse, their hull/front armor is triggering the fuse when you're hitting them straight from the front, causing the shell to detonate early and doing much less damage.
This is a good time to touch on a point made in this video. I have never experience sooo many non-pen and ricochet hits lately. It's as if no matter what ammo I use I can't get a kill or even a crit. What has happened to the whole penetration and damage process?
@@bruhmomentum2901 Lol, have you ever played the G6? The speed on it's stat card is meaningless, it doesn't have the power to push it's massive bulk to that speed in anything but the best conditions, which don't exist in WT. He said as much in the video and I can tell you from experience it is true. Unless you were joking in which case ignore this message...
@@commandoepsilon4664 I've spaded it sir, dont you dare ask me if i played it, that shit is great. It can zoom around the battlefield but it loses all of its speed if it has to turn somewhere, overally its not the greatest but br doesnt matter since roofs are always not protected enough to tank a 155mm he.
I like all of the artillery vehicles in war thunder, but I feel like the 2s3m has a more reliable shell and machine gun to clear fences and such. anyways thanks for the review.
Actually seemed pretty effective. I’m still angry that I have to grind and unlock it when I was nearly done researching the AML-90 🥲 Derp vehicles can be fun but like you said, they are usually not that effective.
The G6 wasn't really designed for frontline battle. It's a mobile howitzer desinged for long-range warfare, and was actually revered the world over (proud South African moment). Hence the thin armor as well as enemy confrontation wasn't the plan So while I love my G6, the maps are too small to use it to its full potential, and is in fact why it suffers a lot. I did get a 7-kill streak in her once on the new map before getting clapped by a plane, but I'll never have that luck again 😆😆
Fun fact: the guy who designed the gun on which the gun for this vehicle was modified from, was a prodigy Canadian ballistics scientist, who eventually died by assassination coincidentally when he was designing and assembling a doomsday space gun for the Iraqis. That is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Gerald Bull.
Please please please review le funni twin 23mm cannon strapped on a APC (the BTRZD). The HE shells on that thing is ludicrous, just grazing a wing can turn a plane to mush
I'm actually a tank designer and I can confirm that the conversation about your aim happens often. In fact, its become staple of what we consider when designing a new vehicle.. It's actually how radar was made and implementing into certain vehicles.
@@mozar94 Not gonna lie but br doesnt really matter except the tanks you going to face. As a player who actually fucking spaded g6, g6 is fucking awesome, that thing is FAST my guy, it really is fastest on lands (suffers on snow obv any wheeled tanks suffer on snow)
@@bruhmomentum2901 I spaded the G6 too and I actually prefer the slight 7.3/7.7 up tier rather than getting down tier because more light tanks makes my proxy Fuze happy :) What I am trying to say is gaijin balancing suck ass that an objectively better vehicle sits almost a whole BR lower than the G6...
i really like the g6. probably the best britain spaa for its br. btw, against heavy tanks use the normal he shell. yeah, the statcard says that theyre identical, but the vt round looses pen faster. just shoot at a tiger 2 h with the normal round just so that you can destroy him (penetration analysis) and then try the same spot with the vt shell. wont do shit. so youre better off carrieng both types of rounds.
The reason this vehicle feels a little weak in WT is that they chose to use an artillery piece as a tank. Even on the biggest map you not using its full potential, it can lob those shells accurately to ranges well over 50km with good forward observers and then move to another firing position kms away quite quickly. When that shell comes down on a tank from the top it does the job well. That airburst round is used against infantry, lots of darts raining down, never heard of it being used against air though.
In case you want to try a better (depends on your preferences) version of this vehicle, then the russian 2S3M artillery is the vehicle for you. It has very similar HE-VT shell, just with slower muzzle velocity and i think less TNT, but the vehicle has lower BR so you encounter more squishy enemies. It's very fast, on par with the M18 hellcat. It's also way smaller than the G6. Armor is crap but that doesn't really matter if you pick your targets and shoot first. But the biggest advantage against the G6 is the armor piercing round, it's very useful for killing those Tigers and other heavies where the HE shell is very unreliable.
The french AuF1 could be amazing, its an amx30 chasis with a massive turet in wich you have an autoloaded 155mm with 6s reload, it have acces to APFsDS, HE, rocket propeled HE, ect..
It doubled as an SPG, and an AA. look at the elevation. there's a reason it's so high. just for some reason war thunder didn't include that part of the vehicle disription. Not an arty piece. A hybrid. It was also meant for long range engagement, so the small maps are Gona hurt. but for some reason they only gave the Night Vision to the driver in the game??? Right now, I play this with a Ratel 20, and I'm grinding threw to the Med tanks right now.
So yeah this vehicle is a wheeled howitzer with a minium range of 3,000m and a maximum range of atleast 30 km with standard HE rounds and up to 73 km with special rounds and extended platform configuration. How it is supposed to fit into any tech tree or line up at all baffles me, but nothing new for War Thunder, of course. Suffering is like the mantra of War Thunder players for years now. Have cozy holidays! PS: Dunno why the South African Military loves wheeled vehicles so much considering the terrain they are likely to face. Really wonder if there really is a benefit in the desert except the abrasion(wear and tear) of metal tracks making rubber wheels cheaper but that's about it.
I don't understand why it's 7.0 when 2S3M and type 75 SPH are 6.3 Even bandkanon is 6.7 and that thing has a ridiculous autoloader and way slimmer profile as an excuse
I hate how everyone in comments here shit on g6, but as a guy who played the thing myself, i can safely say that this thing is fucking good, its fast and its gets the job done.
If you want to play HE thrower just for fun. Skip this tank and get other tanks like Type-75 which is faster both on track and reloading. G6 is self-torture vehicle. Its turret has fix rotation, place too high so it can't aim lower target. Driver has only a metal sheet on front but he can see outside because it has glass on sides. Also, ammoes are kept at the bottom of the front, you can kill it if you don't to random shoot the crews. The last thing, other HE throwers have LMG mount but G6 not.
"faster both on tracks and reloading" g6 can fucking go over 50 km/h even beyond roads my guy and i say that as a guy who actually played g6 and spaded it, unlike you.
