In this Art Vlog I talk about an artist problem that I often face which is knowing when to stop myself when I tend to do too much and when to know when a painting is finished. Do you struggle with the TOO-MUCH gene as a creative person? Also, it’s spring and my lovely tulips are growing in the garden. Hope this cozy studio vlog will inspire you to paint with me. Art is good for the soul. Sending you good vibes and lots of inspiration. P.S. My new painting collection is almost finished! 🎈🧡💛💚💙💜 If you want 1st dibs on the paintings, join the VIP list here ► syndia.ca 🎈🧡💛💚💙💜 I will announce the launch ONLY through the VIP list.

On the guitar painting. I would try a drizzle. With very thin paint and an very thing rod. I would try red paint. On the portrait, the gray works very well. It doesn't pull focus, but it creates some background interest. It suggests light pouring in through an unseen window.

I vote that if you want speckles on the guitar painting you should decide if you want it on the guitar or the background. Now it’s on both the neck, the middle of the guitar and the background eel that it doesn’t create the same depth. Keep going :)

I like the stars keep them. I have the too much gene too. You can use cotton swabs to pick up individual blobs you don't like when you use the splatter method. Love your paintings and vlogs!

I love your videos! I had similar problems when adding stars/splatters/speckles to a painting I was working on. My mentor suggested I use two brushes, hold one in each hand, tap the handle of the brush with paint against the other brush handle. It worked best when I placed my painting on the floor and splattered from above. I practiced on newspaper first to find the perfect ratio of water to paint. Slightly tint the white with another color, white alone is too stark against a dark background. It worked great for what I was doing! I got rid of the tooth brush after that. Give it a try, hope it helps!

I wasn't too fond of the splatter - a little too much. If you try it just on the guitar (and not the edges) - it would give the guitar and the playing a heavenly quality. Those two streaks of grey though!!!! OMG. That was awesome. Look at it for a while - makes it look like a tree is behind her. Finish it off with a few more on the right side to represent the negative space between the trees and it's going to pop!

Thanks for the tips! Someone else said the same thing about the splatters. Definitely something to consider. I should do a mock up in photoshop and see how it feels. To be continued for sure. As always, thanks for taking the time to write to me :o) Hope you're having a lovely Spring so far. Take care 🎈

I was testing some stars myself with an angled brush with hard synthetic bristles and I had great results. Starting from the lower side and going up. But it was a small scale, i dont have big brushes, but you should try it!

Splatters within the guitar looks great, has a great message. But not needed in the background, and not cohesive with the series. Also a preferred no to speckles on the heart painting, again referring to collection cohesiveness. Your latest, the self-portrait is so cool and adds to the collection. Don't overthink. TRUST your processes as your work is FABULOUS!

So, what is even more important is.... what do YOU...the artist prefer??? What expresses YOUR anesthetics?? The world wants to see you... not us, if you get my drift. So if you like the stars... adjust them, keep them add them or take them off. You always end up with beautiful paintings when you TRUST yourself.

I love this collection, the contrast of colours and black with the theme of music... 😍😍😍 But... I'm not sure about the speckles. I do like them in the background, but think they're a bit too much on the guitar. Overall I think I prefer the more minimalistic approach, it makes the colours pop without distraction. The grey on the one with the girl with the hat on the other hand... Love it! 😍

Yeah... I like the speckles experiment but I also think I let the too-much gene run wild here. (Less is more Syndia, LESS is more!) P.S. Mel L, do I know you in real life? I do know a very nice and talented Mel L who's very well versed in all art things, so I'm curious. Anyhoo, have a lovely weekend! And thanks a bunch for your great feedback. :o) ♥♥♥

@@SyndiaArt No, you don't know me in real life, and I'm only a spare-time artist. I can see your trouble with the speckles. For a few minutes I thought it might be a great idea to do them in several of the colours you used in the painting. But then I'm suffering from the too-much-gene as well. 🤣

Hi Syndia I really enjoy your art and your channel. I am not an artist, but I think the hat in your self portrait needs a textural element/more detail. If the hat is knit, maybe you could incorporate some of the ribbing. Also, I think some speckles would make the heart painting pop nicely.

I think the speckles on the guitar painting look pretty good, maybe a few too many. My vote would not to put any speckles on the heart painting. But one thing I was wondering that the paintings in person may look a little more painterly than it looks to us on the video. So I think the black being textured or with more painterly strokes or shades of black would give it less of a graphic arts type look. Love your work, love your videos.

Repainting the black outside the guitar I think would make the speckles a nice focus. I blocked those areas out with my hand and it suddenly had the feeling of Across the Universe by the Beatles. I don’t think the heart would benefit from speckles. It seems to me that they are best used in a very focused, cohesive area so that it looks like the universe is emerging through the subject. I think that’s why it works best in the guitar painting on the areas where the sound is made.
@SyndiaArt
@SyndiaArt 2 года назад
You mean repainting all the color pops all around the guitar background and make all those black (top and and bottom part)?
@ladyflimflam

@@SyndiaArt No, just the areas you splattered, taking those back to black except the fingerboard and sound hole.
