Managed to catch DMB at Plaza of Nations May 13, 1998 - small outdoor venue - what a treat. Carter is great at playing busy, somewhat complicated patterns while keeping a rock solid groove.
@@percussionjamz6704 exactly, "the best drummer" argument is pointless as there are soo many genres of music. Is Carter the best metal drummer? No. Is Carter the bust pop drummer? No. Is Carter the best funk/jazz drummer? IMO, Yes. Too many genres to name just one GOAT.
@@matthewkaiser2683 This has to be overall production footage. Multiple cameramen and the director is switching cameras. This is the raw footage of one camera (my guess)
Mike's correct. This is the overall film from a live show, not specifically filmed for Vic Firth. The cameraman goes all over the place and the folks in the video booth switch shots to the big screens.
This is a raw camera feed sent to the house video TD. Not every shot is perfect, because the cameraman is trying to set up shots that can be mixed into the stage and audience video screens. It is not a true "Carter Cam" in the sense of "Under the Table and Drumming". Also, if you notice, the audio feed is Carter's IEM Mix.
obviously you don't know what you're talking about. The cameraman is constantly repositioning himself, so that when you watch the show on DVD you have different points of view, cause the director will cut those parts in which the cameraman is moving.
@tuneificationable oh yeah, without a doubt it is. I'm just saying it's hard to this cymbals in this particular video for whatever reason. Either way, Carter is a beast. For sure in my top 5 favorite drummers
My God, some people here should go learn about the cameramen work. During a show, they are always moving, always repositioning themselves so you we can see the show from different angles. What we see here, is the cameraman's work without cuts. When we buy a DVD and watch the show, we can see those little angles from the drummer along with the rest of the band members. The parts with the cameraman repositioning himself that we see here were cut. And that's what happen during a show.
That’s what happens during an annoying DVD like Folsom Field, little replay value. A video like Listener Supported has none of this ADHD style of shooting that has ruined so many concert films and movies like Quantum of Solace
The guy is right though (about it being raw footage), it's probably what they shot for the big screens. They're not always going to have perfect pans and what not, because they're not being used all the time and they getting directions from someone off stage.
@yuribgsf Was just about to say, most of the people talking about the cameraman... have you ever been to a DMB experience? (I call it an experience because calling it a show or concert doesn't do it justice.) These guys get AMAZING shots for people at them.
@TheDrummerman56 yeah I get that, but hes always been a loyal user of pro-mark (as I am) and most drummers don't just up and switch the sticks they use...
He use to use Pro-Mark, he has a signature series stick with Vic Firth now, and if you look closely you can see that he is using them in this video. Good move, in my opinion, I owned a pair of the Pro-Marks and I own a pair of the Vic Firths too, and I like the Vic Firths better.
I don't know who vic firth is but if carter beauford is using you gear your on the right track. I play golf with a foot joy glove because I want to be like carter but I don't have a drum set.

Tap in to the epicness!!! … but your right its shite in comparison with other takes of this song… theyve done it so many times where hearts and minds melted by it .. imagine having that kind of self expectation to live up to.
you guys are talking about the camera man, he did a great job, this is how it looks in first hand. after this, they will get some takes to cut and put it on a moviefilm, alternating with other positions of others cameras to complete the job, stop being anoying, this is a privillege. see the music from a show in that quality is very good, after this comes that speach "Oh, did you saw the DMB DVD? its awesome!" yeah it is, because of these takes of cameramans.
Does the cameraman think he’s filming a Jason Bourne movie or something? Would love to watch this, but if you’re showcasing someone’s drumming why are you jerking around the camera like someone having a fit and what the hell is with the still shot of the flashy yellow light with barely a bit of Carter’s left shoulder visible towards the end? Epic fail.
