Interviews recorded in 2002 with Geoffrey Palmer OBE Moira Brooker and Phillip Bretherton on the charming BBC sitcom. With behind the scenes footage and tribute to Geoffrey Palmer OBE
Many many years ago I wrote a fan letter to Geoffrey. He responded with an autographed photo and a hand-written letter several pages long. I framed the photo and it's been in my sitting room ever since, like a favourite uncle. He was a fantastic actor and is very sadly missed.
What made that seem more perfect is they foreshadowed it in the opening episode. Or rather the writers did not forget about that from the first episode and made it happen years later.
Oh, how I adore this show ... I think I have watched about 8-10 times on our PBS stations. They were all so good, including, Judith, Alistair & Sandy, Penny & Steven, Richard & Madge and Mrs Bale and of course, Lol and his brothers!!! Great fun! The world lost a great performer in Geoffrey ... may he rest in peace
One of the greatest tv shows of all time, and i dont think ive ever seen onscreen chemistry as strong as Dench and Palmer. They really seemed like they could be a couple in real life.
I'm so sorry to hear about Geoffrey Palmer passing away. I grew up watching British comedies, I have a habit of watching British comedies every week, as it's my Saturday night entertainment. There are many good ones, and lots of OK ones, but this is by far the best British comedy of all time, in my opinion.
As Time Goes By was one of my absolute favourite tv shows. Well written and superbly acted. I enjoy the reruns very much. Great behind the scenes footage and interview.
I’ve just watched all of those interviews from “As Time Goes By” and the tears just flowed as it ended with those scenes and that magnificent music and song. I’ve watched my DVD set of the series several times and I always listen to every playing of the music and song before and after each episode. The connection between writing, acting and music/song was perfection 🙏🏼👏💝
Loved this show so much. One day when I was walking along in Main Beach Queensland who should I see coming toward me in the muggy heat was the wonderful Geoffrey Palmer (in Oz filming some show at the time). I didn't speak but gave him the biggest, happiest smile ever for all the great hours of entertainment he'd given us.
Thank you for compiling this. One of my favourite TV programmes ever - I can completely see what Moira /Judy meant about being the last. The writing, the superb cast, the whole premise - a masterpiece. I could watch and re-watch them. Rest in peace Geoffrey Palmer.
Absolutely perfect from start to end. Will remain one of the greatest acted sitcoms in history. The writing by Bob was just stunning! One of my favourite series of all time!
I’m a regular viewer of this show. It’s very helpful for me and my issues. Every day I get at least one episode in. God bless you all. Thank you for being 🎶🤗🤟🏼❤️
Thank you for posting these interviews. I love this show and still watch it even now, the DVDs are wearing out. Love Geoffrey Palmer❤️😍from Australia 🇦🇺
One of my all time favorite shows❤️I have watched every episode several times and I will continue to do so. I was very sad to hear Geoffrey’s passing💔 RIP🙏🏻
This is my favorite show ,such a romantic love story. I started watching it on PBS but it was offered in our area when they would show the British comedy series every Saturday. The characters in this series are wonderful. I own the DVD set,and I still watch it at least once a week and have been enjoying it on Britcom.
Wonderfully funny show with such marvelous people, I’ve watched it tirelessly over and over. Just loved the episode where the old lady thinks Jean is Cilla Black …
this is my favorite show. thanks to PBS(KBTC) I get to watch it every Saturday night. The entire cast makes the show seem so very real. I often feel as though I'm right there with them and part of the "family".
Have the Box Set and the reunion special, which was in 2005. Two episodes, one over Christmas and the other over the new Year. Still watching it and still great.
I think what really struck me about this show, was that the characters respected each other. Even in anger they were respectful. They did not degrade each other for a laugh like you see so often in American television..
This show has been my favorite because the characters remind me so much of my parents. I've since lost my parents but I was able to watch the show with them. Just the way Jean and Lionel are with each other and the way they care about "the kids" is very mich like my mom & dad. They say Judi and Geoffrey had a great friendship and acted like an old married couple. These interviews show that the entire cast and crew had a good time making the show. That makes me even happier.
That dead-pan face of Geoffrey's makes me laugh just to look at him. I first saw him as Jimmy in the Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin and now, look at Lionel a bit like Jimmy years later.
