He's a magical jerk. When he saw Ho-oh he wished his adventure could last forever. So he stays ten years old. Had he not seen Ho-oh both Pikachu and Ash would have died.

I agree that marketing has a lot to do. And yes, I even considered Ash stupid since Johto. But first, Ash serves as a Proxy to the audience, when you start your first Pokémon gamr you aren't filled with knowledge of how all dynamics works, even less whe you lived in the 90's, hence the bad choices of Ash like Onyx vs Pikachu. Second, the fact that Ash leaves his most powerful Pokémons to Oak or somebody else and dedicates to train from zero new Pokémons in new regions proves he is an undeniable excellent trainer, because his old Pokémon keep growing with more diverse and experienced characters (it's even something you can do in the games) and because he can managr to master all new Pokémons. I haven't watched all seasons of Pokémon, but I watched the last couple of episodes from XY&Z and heck, Ash is shown like a true reckoning force, like a respected trainer, and I'm willing to bet he will definitely win Kalos. In short, your video lacks judgement.
Ash is always notorious in snuffing out battles with his quick thinking strategies since Johto arc, this is no surprise in the XYZ series. From how I've viewed Ash he's not exactly the most excellent nor most responsible trainer we've seen considering the bad choices he's made due to type advantage and the fact that he keeps falling for Team Rocket's schemes (which he still does as of XY and Z) because he keeps letting it happen, that's not a good judgement for an excellent trainer, especially if Ash is the type to let his Pokemon do what they want and allow them to roam free free without any supervision. Parts of this video do have valid points and I've taken my time to understand Ash's character and I know he hasn't changed and he's still the same as he is personality-wise, that is if you wanna ignore and overlook it like most people in the comment section who are apparently defending Ash to this moment. While I'm impressed Ash has made it to the finals which took him over-I don't over almost 20 years to do, he still has a long way to go. Personally I'm not willing to bet that he's going to win the league, even if he does it wouldn't make him a Pokemon Master cause he has to do it all to prove that he is one.
+Ceriu well ash saved the legendary acerus and celebi and he almost encounter all the legendary pokemon and he saved he's pikachu like a million time's so just eat your shit
brylle kobe none of that means anything lol...hes caught none of them. Could have atleast evolved that Pikachu into something that didnt blow. so eat YOUR shit *eye roll*
Ironically, they finally made him smarter in Diamond and Pearl, where he did evolve and had a full good team; however, the show realized he was too good so they made up some random trainer with both a Ladios AND a darkrai, forcing ash to lose. Then, in the next region, they made him dumb again
In the other season ash is a way better and more loved character. And defeted a darkrai(and it was not a wild one.). He has more love and respect for his pokemon and uses extreemly good strategy. His only problem is his pokemon are weak as hell. I get not evolving pikachu(for really personal reasons for those 2) but the rest of your pokemon? Really?
If you listen closely, you can hear everyone say "Not this fucking joke again, oh, and another unoriginal bleach username" when they read this comment.
Yea.. I think the problem with Ash is he came legit right after Red. And when that theme song plays, "I want to be the best no one ever was..." everyone knows that's Red not Ash. Which is kinda sad because at first they were planning to end Ash's journey winning the Kanto league and marrying Misty.
The problem with Ash is that GameFreak didn't canonizes Red's original name in the games: Satoshi. And only recently do they remember who Red is. And who Ash really is. Look at Ash's face during the Kalos League in XYZ. That is the face of Red.
Hey give Ash some credit He been to the Pokémon league more than once, Met two legendary Pokémon, cheated death multiple times, been a runner up in the Pokémon league, and finally he figured out to throws logic and physics out the window by sharing physical and metal shares body’s with Greninja so uhh Ash is a underrated legend
Actually, XYZ has a much better reason. The structure of the plot would not do a victory justice. Traditionally, the big bad is beaten and then they go to the League Conference. In XYZ, it was the reverse, with the most serious and dangerous final confrontation with the big bad happening directly after the finals. Had Ash won, that victory would be undermined by Team Flare. Ash’s big moment would have been ruined. To give him that victory and have him loss it the second afterwards would be a bigger slap to the face than never giving him the victory at all. Instead of just missing the mark, it would have been pulled out from under his feet after landing it.
If you want a Pokémon story with actual character growth and development, look at the manga. You should do a "Red: The Story You Never Knew" as a contradiction piece to this video.
Here is my reason that Ash can win win 1. The bloody title "Kalos league victory Ah's greatest decisive battle" 2. Cynthia once mentioned a league called the "champion league" probably with the elite 4 3. There is no random op guy in it 4. Ash nearly beat Alain twice (once with greninja and once with noivern) 5. Ash could never beat the elite 4 so he has a reason to continue his journey
I get your point, but if ash actually wins then he achieved his goal, if he achieves his goal he can sip his coffe and relax and stop trying to become a champion which means no new series beacuase I don't think nintendo is going to make another main character, I mean he might win but that probably means series finale
But he's facing a trainer who did fend off primal Kyogre, primal Groudon and mega Rayquaza at once. With only the help of a champion. I don't really expect he'll win. Unless he does what he did in diamond/pearl and uses some of his old pokemon, which he won't.
xP3RF3CT0x wtf they were not weak they were beasts the only bad ones were noivern and hawlucha ALSO notice that this time ash got to 2nd place its the highest place hes been ever
Yeah, I havent even seen the episode and I already thought that Ash would lose anyway consideing how dumb the Black/White writers are (as they wrote this episode instead of amazeing X/Y/XYZ writers), Lets just hope they dont screw up armorshiping too. Update: Since they revieled what the SM anime is going to be like, it seems we wont have armorshiping.
Its so sad because ash got the potential but the anime logic prevents him to achieving one of his goal... thats right being the very best! Its like ash vs the marketing companies, plus ash isnt dumb he is just the MARKETING SLAVE. Ash is actually fighting for his survival.. if he won, the show will end and thats the logic between that show. So sad he doesnt have plot armor like Red
Batangrok but in the manga red has become a champion and the story didn’t end. We just got a different as interesting protagonist with a fresh story in the same world. We have had over ten main protagonists throughout the twenty years of pokespe and it has been for the better of the series. Nothing to get stale or rotten like ash
Batangrok red of the anime is just as stale as ash. Except instead of being stale like ash who has nothing he is flat by having everything except a character being nothing but a projection. Only the manga cares to make their characters dynamic with an actual story
DBZAV in the vid the guy is talking about colours but you two are saying that you like red LOL JK i know what you meant but i still think xyz ash is bettee
Where did the idea that when Ash ever wins a league the series can't continue? Can't he just turn down the league because he heard of this New Region and wants to go there? And if the problem is that everyone will know he beat the league, just think about the Orange Islands and Frontier, no one knew who he was after.
The Foun I mean a dedicated game. Emerald goes with the Advance series. It just has the Battle Frontier in it like Platinum, HearGold, an SoulSilver. What WOULD be cool, though, is an anime based in the Orre region from Colosseum and XD.
If Lockstin is right with his theory, that Sun and Moon are the last games of one continuity, it could be possible, that the anime ends with Ash winning the Ulola region.
Okay first of all can you spell? it's alola and I feel like ash will win the Kalos league but deny the offer of league champion as he denied the offer of frontier brain and he will go on in future regions loosing a couple winning a couple nintendo is not giving up this cash cow until they can barely sell a game and that's nowhere near close to happening

kml gaming I´m sorry I spelled the name of the region wrong. I never read it´s name, just heard it. And depending on your comment, I assume you did not watch the video I´m referencing. But it´s hard to get your point, when you use no commata. To summarize the referenced video for you: I adapts the idea, that with Pokémon Sun and Moon the main continuity of Pokémon will end. They will start a new continuity after it, or reboot the existing entirely. It would make a perfect opportunity for Ash to finally achieve his goal to become Pokémon Master, I doubt, this would end the anime entirely. Maybe they are switching the lead to an established character, or they create a completely new character to be the protagonist of the anime series.
+kml gaming but then we would have the loophole "if ash loses to any other trainer then they are the new Kalos champion". It wouldn't work. So I think either he loses or he wins and leaves the series.
you say that but ash has done nothing to strive towards his goal for the past 20 years. all he does his go to different regions and losing to their leagues in repetitive fashion. i actually at this point have a question. WHY IN THE F**K DOES ASH EVEN WANT TO BE A SO CALLED "POKEMON MASTER". has he ever said why, do we see anyone who has a similarly named goal, do we even know if such a title exists or if anyone else has ever claimed this practically imaginary title. ironically the pokemon manga does in one arc that the pokemon anime can't do in 20 years and that is make a better "ash" story with their own "ash" with the pokedex holder black and despite black needing to make a minor detour in his journey to assist white after she pays off a debt he unintentionally gets himself involved him he not only bonds wells with white but actually wins his one and only needed pokemon league with only 4 pokemon (he has 5 but his fifth pokemon left for specific reasons. and he also has a dormant reshiram in his pocket but does not use it despite having it because reshiram is only with black to confront N and zekrom. and even with black being stuck inside the light orb for TWO years (that take place between the end of the BW arc and the start of the B2W2 arc) black has done more towards progressing his own dream then ash has done in 7 regions. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hxS9M1MfF80.html
I think if you ignore marketing, Ash began his journey wanting to be the very best like no one ever was, but overtime, began leaning towards travelling across the land. Pokémon is more about story and adventure. If you have JUST battles and completions, it would become a season filled with lifeless flexing competition, which would turn a lot of viewers away. Pokémon is about adventure, exploration and personal growth, and battling along the way. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
While I agree with a lot of this, there is a very important message being sent to the target audience. that is, never give up on your dreams. no matter what happens Ash never gives up trying to win a championship, and never stops trying to be a master. thats a powerful message for young kids in a world that more and more tries to tell them they can't do something.
Your videos are usually spot on, but you kind of drop the proverbial pokeball here. Granted, you state outright that you didn't watch every episode at the start of the video, but because of that, you only get the state that Ash was in during the early seasons. Yes, he was an idiot then. We all were, back in gen 1 days, bringing teams consisting of 3 starters, a Pidgeot, a Snorlax, and a Dragonite/Mewtwo/Starmie/Alakazam/Gengar to school to fight our classmates with more or less the exact same team. We didn't know or care about strategy or proper training, or that Tauros was actually the best pokemon in the game back then. During the Orange Islands, as well as Johto, Ash kept his team from Indigo. After curbstomping the early parts of Johto, he realized that doing this made his journey boring, and in subsequent seasons decided to start fresh, as a personal challenge. He still calls in his pokemon from past seasons for League Battles, when he needs them. In Gen 4, he really came into his own, making it to the semifinals of the Pokemon League, and only losing to a trainer with actual legendary pokemon. (And he still beat said trainer's Darkrai and Latios!) Here in Gen 6, he continues to excel and is actually on track to win the entire thing this year...until the writers throw another bullshit trainer in his path.
+Takato Matsuki So you are saying that if a team loses five championships in a row but wins the sixth one, it shouldn't count and they are still complete shit since they lost the first five? Because that is literally what you just said, just replace the word team with Ash.
To be fair the Pokemon world is not like the game. You can't just walk into bushes and find 100 people in the same patch. Pokemon trainer are like animal trainers in real life. In the pokemon world it would be unreasonable to "catch them all".
Dotagamer just because the guy in the vid says that it doesnt mean everyone has to say it...he was a completely different and better ash in xyz have you even watched xyz -_-
This video is very clearly under-researched. You obviously haven't watched ANY of XYZ. Look, Ash is coming up with legitimate battle strategies. He is showing signs of maturity. Hell, as I speak, Ash has advanced to the finals of the Kalos league. 3 episodes from now, an episode is set to air called "Kalos league victory! Ash's greatest decisive battle!" Was he stupid? Yes. Of course. But in XYZ, he's... different. Very different. You should check it out.
The truth is, Ash Ketchum never grows up. The reason is: He is long sleeping and he has a Coma, Theres a scene where Ash Ketchum falls off his bike and gets the Coma, Then he began dreaming about all the adventures he'll have. Non are real, Ash Ketchum Dreams of getting his first Pokemon as a Pikachu, Well that never happened. He was at the hospital the WHOLE time. Poor Ash Ketchum. Please stop complaining, He may have Dreamed of fighting an Onix with his Pikachu, Well. Gary, Oak, Pikachu, Pokemon aren't real. They're just from Ashs long sleeping Coma. His journeys. His Tiredness. His Pain are all from the Coma. R.I.P Ash Ketchum. Died from a Bike crash in the Rain. Long live....
It actually is more likely that ash will lose against Alain, but the big reason is because it'll be even better when he beats him when trying to stop team flare
+Flashrun85 well we find that out next week. Also I FUCKING HOPE that they bring back a character from the mega special that somehow just kind of disappeared. That character is Steven.
+Black Knight Chespin but he clearly only uses the 1st season where ash is the worst. he doesn't give any examples where ash is actually a good trainer.
Ash Should have won the Kalos league and they can again start the anime by the story that ash should have lost his memory in an accident. he should have only remember his pikachu and a dream that he wants to become a pokemon master. Then he should move up to Alola region by forgetting that he have already won a championship. This can be a gr8 idea.
not really... he stays up all night training, sure, that's smart, but he'll be groggy and get a chemical imbalance in his brain making him very ill. or worse.
Ok at 4:50 that's actually wrong. If you remember the REAL reason Butterfree had to go. Just saying but I will definitely agree with with everything else I'm 100% sure of that. lol Believe me haha cause I do believe ash is no professional trainer like red who's already a master.
lol i stopped watching the pokemon anime after about the 5th season or so cause i already knew the outcome ash half asses his gym badges goes to champion ship buttload of random filler in between each thing and loses once in the championship lather rinse repeat :P sorry nintendo but ill just stick to the bad ass games lol
Ash will win the league,no because his experience or how smart he is .He will win because Sun and Moon will be the last game of Pokémon how we know. After this games they will remake Pokémon from the beginning !!
Ash sucked in first gen and the other gens out of all the he only won one league and he never has earned all his badges they were giving him out of pity and he defeated ONE legendary out of all of them where red not only beat the legendaries he caught them ash has a greninja who can use Pokemon break and he lost twice with it and he gets rid of all his Pokemon and his pickachu lost a snivy a SNIVY and the trainer and snivy were rookies his pickachu should have 1shotted snivy but he didn't stop trying to justify why ash sucks
+Maria Quiñones Even if he wins his past mistakes/failures for over a decade will not be forgotten and he is doom to fail again in the future. Also Red is better. #redrules
im actually OK with ash starting his team over and over. what I hate, is why Pikachu keeps getting his ass whooped. it can take on a fucking Dragonite, Legendaries, Mewtwo! but loses to a fucking LVL 5 starter? bullshit.
HANDSOME JACK HYPERION yup. Thats why poor Raichu gets no love. Even the two times Raichu curbs stomps Pikachu in the show, Pikachu comes back and wins the rematch.
You know late OS/AG/DP/XY Ash is smarter and battles well but you didnt watch it and you wouldnt know but you'd criticize him anyway. How does this have 8k likes again? Does the blind Ash hate cloud everyone using basic judgement skills that much?
I DIDNT WATCH THE ENTIRE THING, IVE BEEN TROLLED. So while this video isnt as bad as I thought I still disagree about Ash being a "stupid trainer" and honestly the chances of him winning the Kalos League is very high
the dumb fucks just take in what they want to know, they only take in the bad parts about ash and just put aside the positive side and actually even larger part of ash
The fact that you're only using one season to "prove your point" already made me discredit you. It's like saying that a kid that was bad at sports when he was younger will never be a sports star despite becoming one when he grew up.
Pokemon Master: Emperor Yamimoto, heard you have a new game you had. Or should I say "Darth Yamimoto" Darth Yamimoto:Pokemon Master you finnally found out.
Wait wait wait, I know ash is the worst trainer there is but don't go saying that just the original series can prove it. If you've seen xyz then you'll see that ash seems to have grown up and is even in the finals, I mean the kids got a mega that no else has for christ sake. If you're wondering the mega is greninja.
In X and Y, ash is a good trainer that does what is need to win. Who is follow by imbeciles who shouldn't even be there and add nothing to the plot. Team rocket is, okay, they stepped their game up in the costume department to the point where I watched the Japanese version( because I couldn't wait for the dub) and couldn't tell when team rocket showed up because their costumes were that good
Bulbasaur. I played Yellow, in which you get Pikachu as your starter, but can get the others along the way. Since I got Bulbasaur first, it got strong and stayed on my team.
but he's worst than a fucking new trainer with a fucking snivy and half of ashs wins is either by friendship,PURE LUCK, or fucking bullsgit strategies that are dumb
N.m.h 2004 bruh my brother that was 5 years old got more Pokémon and got more evolutions then ash And that is sad Plus for someone who needs friendship to get him through all the episodes seems to get rid of his good Pokémon lying he will come back or say you need to train or some bullshit and never come back for them...like pegiot where he released it saying he will be back but never did...doing what that one trainer did with his charmander which ash took in and gave away eventually
N.m.h 2004 but he does stuff you CANT do like this "Charizard use flamethrower on the battlefield! " like what also they evolve IN battle that doesn't happen in the games
derpy dog bulbasaur is a plant fing what is squartle going to do shoot bubbles then you have the flame pokémon that breaths fire wich one do you bring to a battle
I remember playing Red. It's was so cool to see how anyone could choose to go out and destroy unsuspecting trainers with charmander, or own the first couple of gyms with squirtle....or Bulbasaur if you liked losing.
ashs pikachu sucks manky is terrible bulbasaur and squirtle do nothing his charizard doesn't respond to orders and butterfree is the only pokémon in his team that is good
He should've been in his mid/late teens by now. The logic of how he's still a fucking 10 year old after the massive amount of time he spends in each region is ridiculous.
+Aura dragon1 lol its alright. you gotta admit though this review is kinda bulshit, they shouldve went over the newest season at least a little bit lol
+Andrew Kline true there should have covered or at least pointed out Gen 4 and a little on 6 (I say a little on Gen six because it hasn't finished yet )
