Their cover is one of the best of this song. They were also one of the few bands to cover the 2nd half of the song too. So many covers of just the first 4 minutes.

@@themamat In a 2001 BBC session, Ash covered "Only in Dreams", and released the recording as a B-side to the single "Burn Baby Burn". During the 2001-2002 world tour supporting Free All Angels, the band would perform the song almost nightly, and a live version is found on the DVD Tokyo Blitz. They're good mates, people should do their research.

Apparently when he was younger the G string would always break, but bass strings are only sold in packs of 4, so he just left it like that.

I do like how they tried to make it their own though. Like they didn't do a carbon copy of the Weezer version which would be pointless. It's almost like they played it from memory without referencing the recording... which is generally the best way to cover something and make it sound like your own. Pretend it's just your song.

They had speed up issues in the chorus which is probably why it feels like it does not flow I agree

@@saucywalnutz I guess it's all about context. Weezer has two really good records and a bunch of great B-sides. Everything else is throwaway. Ash is cool, but I haven't listened to all of their music. I would put the Blue album against Ash's entire catalogue, sight unseen. But that's me. I'm also probably a lot older than most of Ash's fan base since I bought the Blue album new and saw =w= in concert in the 90s more times than I can remember.
