This is not just a food review channel....This is a cultural documentary that makes me appreciate our planet and I will support this channel till I'm an old woman. 👍🥰🥰
There’s an organ named ‘Gallbladder’ right next to the liver that contains some bitter acidic substance. Any puncture while gutting the animal can cause leakage of those juices that can make the liver taste horrible. I’ve experienced this once with my chicken liver. I think that happened to you too last time
Dang Sonny, I've always loved your honesty about all the cultures and food they provide. I started watching you at your beginning. I'm very happy you've become so successful. Wish you were here in Kentucky (USA). Hopefully you'll come once. I've learned a lot from you. Thanks. Tell your wife hello.
As a food reviewer, that's your reputation on the line.. lying even though the food is bad will just make your viewers lose interest and more importantly, you would be setting your viewers to eat a disgusting food simply because you liked it..
@@lmntsgames3848 mike chen always finds everything umami flavoured and absolutely delicious, could feed the man live cockroaches covered in cat feces and it'd be umami and amazing
Won't lie, when I'm super depressed - this is my go-to show. It's real, it's educational, entertaining and he’s very charismatic. It's not just about the food, but culture, language, tourism, and current events. Sonny helps me see beyond just my apartment.
As kids we watch Saturday morning cartoons. As adults we watch Sonny and his incredible crew take us on a excursion to places were some of us has never heard of.
The liver Sonny ate the first must been spoiled/ not fresh. Look at the two picture of the stingray side by side at 13.33 first sting the skin is more wrinkle and old looking. The 2nd one is smooth. I’m a fisherman I know how fish and rays looks when they been dead for awhile. On ice don’t mean fresh. Great video tho Sonny.
Thank you! Was trying to find an explanation why Sonny had vastly different experiences both times. I guess the freshness of ingredients do matter a lot.
I love the fact that I immediately knew what he was talking about when he said “the worst seafood I’ve ever eaten.” I think I’ve seen too many episodes…
I really like the fact you appreciate different culture’s cuisines and give it a taste and share your honest opinion. Respect man and that’s why I love your videos.
TBF, any bottom feeder fish's liver is gonna be russian roulette taste wise. Meat takes many months for it's flavour to distinctly change. Liver? better part of a week eating disgusting stuff can rapidly change it's flavour for the worse.
I would, wouldn't you if you had a chance? Maybe not the stingray liver though since those are often loaded up with heavy metals. You only eat that if you want your life of eating interesting and different things to be short.
@@aquaviii Damn I wish I could go to Vietnam! I'd start at the border with China and eat my way south until I got to southern most tip, being sure to sample all the regional and tribal cuisines along the way. I'm adventurous. I'd eat whatever they're having, and I'd love the experience. It is amazing all the ways people have used the things available where they live to make wonderful, life-giving food. I could never get tired of the variety. I covet Sonny's job so much!
You should try Grilled Sting Ray in Malaysia. Available in Chinese Shops and some Malay Shops under the "Ikan Bakar/Grilled Fish" Stalls. Usually prepared by slathering the sting ray slice with sambal and grilling it inside a banana leave wrap or aluminium foil wrap. Served with Okra and long beans added to the Sambal.
That was how I felt this last time I tried frog legs. I've had a bad taste for them pretty much my whole life, but I went out on a limb(haha) and tried them again from a local Cajun restaurant and they were Delicious. My mind was blown and I spent the rest of the day contemplating my existence lol
Same for me with snails. I've tried them in Spain, Italy, Malta, but there was always something there I never liked. Recently tried to cook them myself and I cooked them more Eastern style, with chillis, ginger etc. I am now fokin addicted of snails.
Something about your voice! It's one of the best food reviewer on this platform. It keeps us engaged and wanting more. A big clap to your producer and team. We always get excited for new videos! Love from Australia !
I'll go out on a limb and say it's one of the best food review shows on any platform. And I'll join you in clapping for his crew. I've been watching his shows since very near the beginning, and I never get tired of them. I'm both amazed, and glad, that no network has ever picked him up. I'm glad because I'm selfish and want to keep watching his shows as long as he cares to make them. Cheers from the UK or the United States, depending on what month it is.
Sibuk jer Singapore. sambal bbq stingray my ass. always be stealing stuff. claims asian but have their faces stuck in white people's ass all the time. so canggih but don't even have own water supply. come to Msia drive so fast go accident and injure ppl. boleh pergi berambus la Singapore
I rode 1500 miles across Vietnam on a motorbike in 2019 going north to south from hanoi to ho chi min city via halong Bay. It took 3 weeks and it was an awesome adventure.
I’ve had stingray tacos in Chula Vista. It almost tasted like machaca (dried beef). I’m pretty sure they boiled it, shredded it and then fried and seasoned it.
One question that you have not yet answered is that: if stingray’s liver teste has been upgraded its range up, there will be one that have to drop down, right? So i want to know which one that stingray’s liver was kicked it down to replace the marvelous last place in the range!
I'm glad you revisited that experiance. It shows a person willing to grow beyond their preconceptions. The worst food I ever had? Casa Marzu cheese. Would I try that again? Well, sadly they can no longer export it and from what I understand the very few families who made it no longer do. So.... I lucked out.
What a great video. I was honestly expecting the same reaction as his first time. Now I wonder why it tasted so bad the first time? Possibly the freshness, different part of the ocean, age of the sting ray perhaps?
Bro I been watching you for 4 years and I'm actually offended you guys haven't done Puerto Rico yet I suggest Aguadilla love our food, and you need to try pastels, pastelillos, alcapurias, tostones de Pana, limber de coco, tres leches and many more foods, please sonny i Wana see how you feel about our food and our culture
So the order in his list of worst food has officially changed. This episode is all about fun experience but it also delivers a nice message “give the food you first disliked a second chance” 😆
This is my favorite kinda stuff to watch this is why I’m such a fan of you and Andrew Zimmern great work and remember try everything once including heroin 😂
@@TamaraInTanzania Hey dude that’s what he said at the end of the video try everything once including heroin. I thought it was hilarious I fucking love that guy.
He picked the perfect name for his channel indeed, the best food review around for sure. He says a lot of corny jokes but delivers them consciously knowing how corny they are, but they still are kinda funny lol. Maybe I just have a low sense of humor idc either way. I enjoy these videos
