“Sole Survivor” is a song by '80s progressive rock band Asia. Written by singer and bassist John Wetton and keyboardist Geoff Downes, it is the third track and third single from the band’s 1982 eponymous debut. It was Asia’s second single for the U.S Mainstream Rock Charts that reached the Top Ten. also peaking at #75 in Germany and #91 in the UK. Despite being pilloried by the press at the time, Asia’s blend of polished melodies and progressive ideals reaped huge commercial rewards. With the arrival of MTV, the timing of their debut album could not have been more perfect, topping the US Billboard chart for nine weeks. At one point, 80,000 copies were being sold each day.
