ASK AWAY & COMMENT BELOW! 🎉 We can't tell you how much we appreciate your patience and support as we aim to create the best videos we possibly can for you while we try to grow along the way! 🥰
First of all, it's great to see you guys traveling again! We have some "quick" questions: 1) How are you managing to find time to edit in the middle of so much filming (which seems more frequent than in Sicily or Florence)? And what would be your recommendation to other people who are trying to document their travels, either for social media or personal posterity? What are your pros and cons for editing on the go (when memories are fresh and enthusiasm is high) versus waiting until you get back home (when there's more time to polish)? (As an example, in the recent Pisa video, you showed some "flash backs" to Sicily, which means you had to find those videos, choose representative clips, and add new titles to them, all of which takes time, time, time!) 2) Where do you store the files for your previous episodes, and what do you use for backups? Do you carry around external drives, or are you storing everything the cloud? Do you have any recommendations for people who plan to shoot lots of videos of their travels? (For example, where were those Sicily clips?) 3) When you were Florence (or even Sicily) for multiple months, did you manage to find part-time work to help supplement the RU-vid income? If so, was it local work or remote work? And do you have any tips for people who are looking to work while traveling (especially in Italy, which has a high unemployment rate)? 4) Speaking of Sicily, do you have any plans to revisit regions or specific places in the future? In the Lucca video you sort of hinted about wanting to return to it, possibly trying out some viewers recommendations. An "M&M Return to _____" series would definitely be interesting! Of course, by the time you get through all 20 regions the first time you'll be... what... 50??? 5) If not 50, then I'm curious how you plan to accelerate your travels. Your original plan to blitz through all 20 regions by the end of 2022 certainly seemed feasible, but then certain "realities" hit. We know about the delay in getting a car, but what other aspects of travel, life in Italy, or life in general contributed to the blowing out of the timeline? And what's your strategy for getting through the other 18 regions at a comfortable, sustainable pace? (Not that I'm complaining: your very long set of Sicily videos is my favorite series of videos on RU-vid! When a movie or video game far exceeds the original budget, as long as the extra money ultimately converts to extra quality and extra sales, no one's complaining!) 6) Any plans yet for a paid membership option? We'd love to be able to support you on a regular basis, and a paid membership area could be a great place to post extras like deleted scenes, uncut videos, bloopers, and other tidbits that don't really "fit" on the more carefully edited main channels. 7) Any plans to discuss expat concerns like health care, taxes (for IT, USA, and RSA), local bank accounts, driving license, visas, citizenship, etc. I know that stuff is mundane, but it might be of interest to people contemplating a long-term move to Italy. Kinda clashes with the road trip idea, though! Maybe that's the sort of thing you could put in a paid membership area?) Anyway, I'm just curious if you intend to bring the "expat" theme back into it. 8) This might be a bit "spoilery", personal, and wildly speculative at this point... but when you've finished your massive Italy road trip and all these regions are "done and dusted"... what next? Do you dream of "settling" somewhere, having a permanent home? Or do you think you'll stay nomadic, alternately "visiting" Italy, the US, and South Africa? Or do you suspect you'll get itchy feet and tackle another road trip in a different country? Certainly no one knows what the future brings (especially a future that could be many years or even decades from now...) but have your experiences since you started the channel and your Italy trip inspired any rough plans, or is it all still very nebulous? 9) On a lighter note, what's Michelle's hair routine? (Our daughter thinks Michelle's hair looks amazing!) 10) And finally, what games does Matteo play, and [how] is he able to play them when in Italy? Have fun with these, and I'm serious about the paid thing. Help us to help you! :) Anyway, great job on the recent videos, and I love the length!
Travis!! You've done it again!! Such an excellent and well-thought-out comment and list of questions! Thank you so much, we cannot tell you how much we value your continued support and input! 🥰 ❤️
Are you guys planning to visit the Italian Riviera? Sestri Levante is probably one the prettiest little town in Liguria. Spring time might be the best time to visit, before Liguria gets over flooded with German tourists and Italians coming from the north in the summer.
Hi! No question, just wanted to say that my fiancee and I discovered your videos after our own two-month mini trek through Italy and Sicily. Your videos are the highlight of our stay at home date nights as we save up for our relocation to Italy some day in the future. Thank you, we appreciate all the work you put into this!
Aww thank you so much for your sweet comment Christian, it made our day! 🥰 That is so exciting that you're thinking of moving to Italy and we wish you the best of luck with your planning! 😍🇮🇹
Love all your videos :) You both inspired my family and I to climb the duomo in Florence :) We are coming back in September and visiting Cinque Terre, are you planning on visiting there? I would love some information and videos of Cinque Terre ❤
Hey guys I’m from Australia 🇦🇺 I just saw the video of LUCCA where h filed the cake Yes in Australia hot cross buns r very popular here especially at Easter Me and mom luv your videos Hopefully I get to Italy one day
How this all started? I mean the travel idea. We live in the US and love Italy, have been to 10 of the Italian regions and could say we know some of them pretty well. Which is the next region for you and why?
Ciao amici! As you know, I've been following you almost from the beginning. Let's say Sicily was a binge watch when I discovered your channel, but I caught up and now never miss an episode. After Sicily, you said in a video that the idea of doing all 20 regions in a year was absolutely not possible, and you have revamped your plans. My question is how long do you expect to live in Italy considering the rate at which you are traversing the country? You have 18 more regions to do. I really hope you can accomplish your goal to visit all 20 regions. I was in Italy from the end of April until nearly the end of June and in 8 weeks I was in 10 different regions: Lazio (Roma), Puglia, Basilicata, Abruzzo, Veneto, Toscana, Lombardia, Piedmonte (Torino), Trentino-Alto Adige e Sicilia! Way too much to see!
@@TheGlobalExpats I can't wait until the episode where you answer some questions. The person after me asked around 10 I noticed. Anyway, I forgot Campania, so I was in 11 regions this year!
1. How did you get your permesso di soggiorno? 2. How did you find your apartment(s), and do you have experience with renting apartments for a short period, for example 1-2-3 months?
You mentioned in one of your Florence videos that while visiting Santa Raparata, you pass through the cathedral. After visiting Raparata, are you able to continue back to the cathedral or do you need to stand in the cathedral entry line? Thank you!
Also would you please consider going to the Town of Randazzo in Sicily, I'd love to see and learn about Randazzo as it's my maiden name, thank you very much ❤
I have been a loyal viewer of yours for years and I love you. I'm Italian, I live in Piacenza (when you are in Emilia Romagna let's talk, I'll show you Piacenza if you want!). I have traveled a lot and I know how tiring it can be over time, so I ask you if you are thinking of settling in Italy, perhaps, what will you do after this long phase? I like the way you live, looking at the positive in everything. a hug. Dario
Ciao Dario! Thank you so much for your continued support, it really means a lot to us 🥰 And yes, it would be awesome to meet up with you when we are in Emilia Romagna! 🤗
love love your videos - you "bring Italy" straight to me in Australia! But why so much time in Florence? How about Sardinia? Or the Aeolian Islands you missed last time? Once again, GRAZIE !
@@TheGlobalExpats thanks for responding guys - much appreciated - most youtubers don't give a damn! I've recommended your 2 channels to all my friends. You covered baroque Ragusa in Sicily (my mum's birthplace) and my in-law's island of Vulcano in your Sicily episode. Obviously you only did the "main" of the 7 islands, but it'd be great to visit the isolated islands of Alicudi (my dad's birthplace) and Filicudi maybe next time - and include Sardinia. You're both amazing - thanks again!
Hi there Micha and Matteo😄 loving your videos and following your journey! We are South Africans traveling to Italy in December - what is the best day trip wine tour that we can book from Florence? Many thanks
Like the vids just wondering if you prefer north or south Italy? Also are you going to visit the 3 lakes in the future Como, Garda & Maggiore? We've done 2 of them and only Maggiore left lol
Hi guys, one of my curiosities concerns the preparation of your videos: is there someone who advises you which places to visit or do you rely on tourist guides (e.g. Lonely Planet or Rough guides). While you are in Lucca, have you considered visiting the baroque villas of Lucchesia? The Villa Reale of Marlia is wonderful but Villa Torrigiani and Villa Grabau are also worth visiting. I'll finish by congratulating you on your videos, always wonderful!
Hi! Love your videos!! I'm trying to plan a trip to Sicily and Greece with my 21 year old son that is graduating college and my 19 year daughter going into her Sophomore year of college. We can only go to two places in each country. We want to go to Taormina because my daughter likes shopping and glamorous and not much touring. My son wants a nigh life. What would be another place close to Taormina with the same vibe? We also are going to Mikonos for the night life. What other city near there in Greece would you suggest? Coming from NYC. Thanks in advance.
other then Italy where would you like to go in Europe, and around the world?? Also would you like to come to Canada ? Where would you like to return to that you've already been ❤ thank you and I look forward to all your videos ❤
How do you feel about the US?? I only just found your channel from your Marsala video, but the US has just about the same square mileage as all of Europe, so much to see here!!
