Seeing that one dude talk about how he was the first in his family to go to college makes me so happy :) Congrats man, you should be so proud of your achievements!
I'm in high school and I don't wanna go to college, I don't even know what I want to study and I feel like a college degree is worth nothing, or maybe it is worth something and that's the problem that companies value a degree more than actual knowledge.
@@alejandrafuentes1316 finding happiness is the biggest achievement you can get in life. But I really recommend you to at least study *something* if you dont know what to do in future. There is a huge difference between being smart and having a good degree but if you really dont know what to do, studying and at least putting effort in something can be a lot beneficial. You would still have your whole life ahead of you to get to know yourself, but its better not to ruin your present just because you dont see a future. If you dont know what to study, just study what u think is the easiest for you, maybe you can even get a scholarship and save some money yet enjoy the 'college time'. you have just one life, dont waste it in worrying, you will eventually figure out where you belong.
I am the first person on my dads side to go to college, and I got into uni (we’re British). Neither of my parents got a education past high school, it’s a lot of pressure, but it’s worth it to make them proud 😂
@@alejandrafuentes1316 Have you considered trade school or an apprenticeship? There are many trades that pay extremely well, and they're desperate to find young people to pass on their skills to. 🙂
@@beaboopiscyan0903 Embarrassment. There's a bigger percent of Harvard students unhappy than other schools across the United States. They hide their feelings which is the most deadly killer. I've heard several stories of students struggling at the most difficult school to enter with their grades and unfortunately committing suicide. They never vent their feelings outwards and let other people comfort them, nor get therapy; they're from Harvard!! They should have no weaknesses!!! Or at least, that's what they think about themselves and everyone around them. In reality, if a student is suffering from depression in Harvard, chances are that there's at least 4 other people at the moment experiencing the same feelings.
Me too. And it didn’t seem to me that they were faking it to put on a show. I could see it in their eyes, on their faces and hear it in their voices that they felt good and that was a pleasure to see.🙂
@seXi BOi what on earth? Who are you to assume what others are doing? I'm poor by American standards and I'm just now about to get my Master's degree. But according to your understanding poor people sit all day and don't do anything with their life, amazing
@@12.56AM I auditioned for the university theatre dept (not my major) and ended up in the show. I was just doing it for fun so yes extra work but no extra stress. It wasn't really competitive and I met people with similar interests. That made all the difference for me.
must have been those admission fees for those entrance exams to be admitted to your *D R E A M* School for a sacrifice enactment for a $leg and a arm$ or all.
Imagine if he was only selecting the 1% people that said "yes", and discarded the rest who said "no". We would be getting the biased idea everyone in Harvard is happy.
Which might actually have been the case. Would liked to see at least one No in there. Social Media gives us the impression all the time that everyone is sooo happy and he could have given that a counterpoint. Like "Look, even as a Harvard student you can be sad!"
It's likely not. Even at Harvard I bet a lot of those students will find that the greedy billionaires that have destroyed the country will not throw them a bone. An unfortunate realization. "Behind every cynic is a disappointed idealist." -George Carlin
The guy that said no one in his family went to school and here he goes straight to Harvard! More power to you 💪🏻 may you make your whole family more proud with more achievements in life!💕
Congratulations for being the first person of Hispanic/Spanish origin of descent to be finally admitted, to just BE ADMITTED ONLY ADMITTED TO YOUR PRIDEFUL DREAM EDUCATION, that sounds so obvert obviously? Guess I cannot restate the question multiple times without coming off, projectery of being rude, biased, brash, ill-mannered, blunt, tasteless and, inexpressible/inexpressive. That is not my right to place personal judgement or interpersonal judgement behavior to others if they’re admitted to their favorite school that they’ve been planning for since Pre-School/Pre-K or Kindergarten. EDUCATION AND INTELLECTUALITY ROCKS OVER DRUGS, SEX OR JUST UNWANTED PREGNANCIES AND TRUANCY. ❤❤❤😂😂😂
" because i find happiness within my ownself and not needing validation from others and things around me " I guess is the best reason to be truly happy
Happiness is a feeling. You can’t yearn for something that lasts for a a little while. You will feel it again but happiness is just a feeling. What people want is joy.
Pretending you are happy and not even having a real answer for that is not achieving anything. It is just perpetuating the fake society the US has created were everyone smiles and are rotten inside.
congratulations to the last student. first gen latinx student here so i can relate to that elation. and the sense of making your loved ones proud - regardless of which institution it is - is unlike any other. keep up the good work!
Latin American countries use latin@. I recommend using that instead of latinx. That term makes me cringe. It's like out of touch americans just decided for a gender-neutral term for "Latinos" from Spanish assuming they hadn't already come up with one themselves. It also makes me think specifically about Latin American transexual people for some reason. As slightly conservative communities in most places, Latin American people in the US would hardly agree on being called a term with such a clear nod to wokism.
i’m so sorry but i hardly knew this person but they went to my elementary, middle, AND high school and it makes me so happy that he’s out there representing our little town and the latino community🥹🥹 very VERY happy for him and his family to have such a great son🥹
going to school is so important, and so are the ppl u surround urself with and your own sense of internal validation and achievement/working hard. Im rly proud of all these ppl and glad that they’re doing well
I audited a few classes at Harvard in like 2005, these student body attitudes are pretty spot on from my experience. Humble people who want to make an impact on the world, but also tons of students from wealthy New England families.
Statistically this doesn't prove harvard is where you can find happiness what he did was called a convenience sample, where he basically asked people on the street (who are convenient to find and talk to, and perhabs agreed to be shown in the video) In other words there could be way more people (at there home maybe or at classes,..etc) that are sad and just because those people don't "walk around on the street" it wasn't convenient for him to ask them this question. moral of the story, Harvard ism't the key to happiness.
Despite the dismissive tone, I like your implication that you get further in life if you actually care what others think. I like it because I dislike people promoting being antisocial as the solution to everything...
interesting how the happiest moment in the life of the last guy was getting into the first school he got in, not getting into Harvard, just proves that the way you see a situation is mostly influenced by your memories/feelings around it, not the specific situation
My 8th grade history teacher graduated from Harvard! Can’t remember what she studied for but she was wealthy, always looked nice, was a perfectionist, and traveled to many different places. I especially remember her kindness and how she wanted to move to Japan when she retires
princess Isabella, Princess ingrid, Princess Leonor, Princess josephine If all four of you ever feel that I (Rahul, cupid, God of love) am getting separated from all four of you. Then all four of you take your own decision and imagine with me by looking at my photo with a burning candle, then the voice of the heart of all four of you will reach me. You all will feel me.
That guy who said he is the first person in his family to go to school Man that's amazing Imagine nobody in your family attended a college And then somehow you pop up and manage to get into one of the biggest colleges in the world
As an Ivy League grad myself; being on campus as a student was one of the most idyllic experiences. Being off campus and in the work place makes happiness a bigger challenge, however.
I gave 2 scholarship exams for the Harvard medical University but got rejected though I'm getting good number. I will try one last time and I'm fully prepared. I'm coming Harvard
dude even people not blessed enough to go to a regular college say that they're happy... if i was at Harvard i would be fucking happy like am on drugs or like i am dying
Wrong. it's all about being fake and pretending you are happy and successful. That's the main goal in Harvard, and "values" needed in this "pretty" society after the University.
I'm at UCL and be at Cambridge in 20 days. I'm a hell a lot tired but definitely Happy about my progress. Which makes me work even harder to proceed forth! And I'm the first in my family to attend college, too.
I’m a drop out from my diploma but it was my lowest point. I can’t say I’m happy but at least I am not constantly suicidal. Kinda nice to see that college is not miserable for everyone.
I remember an Austrian woman that was very happy university and smile with such enthusiasm. They still do but their text gone down due to professionalism. It's like what the office said. Money becomes the necessity. And somewhere personally too me with that person that I saw from a far distance. I do very wish and hope they find their dreams and ambitions. Perhaps why in a since I do my comic in that not losing that what she had. Reality can be disappointing but someone spirit what shows has anther whole meaning. Hope their ok.
@@spacey_ace_kid7504 That's not what he meant, he meant that any person studying in Harvard would never need any kind of validation as they achieved something which many fail to do.
@panko Well then who can say "money can't buy happiness"? If a poor person says it's then people will just say they're just lying to themselves because they can't do it. At least in the case of the rich they have experience in that situation to know if that is the case.
Good for the guy who was the first in his family to go to school!! It’s extra hard to get into Harvard if you don’t have connections. So he must be genuinely smart unlike all the trust fund kids who get in as legacies without having to work for it.
As an MIT and Harvard alumna, that little corner of the country is a very special spot. The world's great leaders and researchers all gathered in one tiny nook is priceless.
