They’re there, in specific places. Human civilization covers a very VERY tiny portion of Earth’s surface so if you just randomly land somewhere, you’re unlikely to see any trace of human civilization.

Even if the ozone layer was destroyed, a nuclear war between every nation broke out, global warming happened, the entire human society and their creations would still be completely visible. You'd have to nuke the each meter of the earth to completely erase everything and even then it wouldnt look like this tbh. So no, there is no lore reason.

@@hastyscorpion simple light rays arent stripping an atmosphere away, thats solar winds, and those do not hit earth often enough and with such magnitude that the atmosphere goes away 100%... the atmosphere wouldnt even completely go away due to gravity, Mars afterall has only patches of a magnetic field on its surface and theres still an atmosphere there just 90% CO2

@Toastybees Played through the night because I work on the weekends. Thought I was missing something after 8 hours so watched some streamers play it and it doesn't look like it gets better. The narrative is bad, really bad even in comparison to Fallout 4 which fell off fast. There's not even a character that people can meme like Sheriff Woody from F4. The combat is a smoother F4 with no VATS which I don't think was the right direction. A.I. is just awful and I can't believe they allowed this to be in the place it is. Space Combat is too floaty while also being too stiff and it just seems pointless. You can't even do anything in the space segments. Last gripe so far, the reviewers are lying about the performance of this game. I've had close to 10 crashes so far with countless bugs that have stuck my character into a plethora of objects as well as disappearing side characters making it so I can't continue their quest lines. I'm going to test how many planets actually have stuff today to see if the exploration is any good. But, so far this is another middling 5/10 from Bethesda and I can't wait to see a repeat of Todd's smugass face having to sit and watch as every game other than his wins an award at the Game Awards.

They seem fine to me. It doesn't look as good on RU-vid as when you actually play yourself.

Consider running Native, or DLSS/XESS, something seems a bit wonky with the FSR2 implementation, it is not the worst, but image is clearly not stable in many scenario.

Its kind of weird though because they have bases on mars and they could have just treated earth the same way. You just wouldn't be able to walk around without a space suit.

It would have been cool if other planets were any different. Instead you just keep going from one dead barren planet to another. And then you see Earth and think "ow surely this will be quite different"....nope, just another dead barren planet. I'm sorry but outside of the cities and quests the game is a boring, meaningless nightmare.

So... you want more barren planets which have nothing to do on them, as long as the game assures you they were once really cool places with tonnes of exciting things to do on em? With enough content the intrigue generates itself, players will keep coming back just to see whats around the corner. @@Charliestrife01 yeah of course but that makes sense because it would be impossible to create earth that is realistic,, cities would have to be fraction of the size of real cities and people would of course complain that they are unrealisitic. Not to mention how much longer it would take to create all the cities, I think in the future it will be possible to recreate real earth by using all the data we have, and it wont be humans doing such recreation but an AI, especially since not only cities would have to be recreated but they also would have to be made more futuristic since action takes in the future, but it would have to be grounded in reality futurism.

All they had to do was create a small play are where earth looked like earth but 300 years into the future. And make it the only accessable part of the planet like the main planets in the game...its literally the same thing.
