Between the garlic obsession, literally constantly quoting "big-dick garlic", the hilarious one-liners while simultaneously being completely ignorant of several of the game's mechanics and stage design features combined with a pathological excess of overconfidence leading to foolish deaths makes this both a god-tier entertaining video as well a painfully enraging one to watch at times (and I'm all for it).

it is, first time i saw it was on soda stream couple month ago, and for couple £ sinking in 35h already is huge worth, and it gets updates week to week so there is new stuff to grind

I had a full set of evolved weapons and level 50 on Library with an evolved Garlic and I was killing everything while afk because nothing could get near me It hit minute 25 and the Secret Boss of the Library spawned and ran me over while I was tabbed out
Evolved Pentagram is insanely good. It pops off in the late game, and it uses Crown to evolve. When it goes off it no longer deletes stuff, and instead pulls the exp to you. Really good for a bro who wants to stand still like an absolute alpha garlic god.
Yeah, but is such a heavy investment, you need to mostly stick to max it out + get some luck (upgrades or clover that is kinda "meh" and also cross, it's pair weapon, is better unevolved).
@@GespenstMorder Agreed, pentagram is overrated and it can kill runs easily if you fuck up and destroy precious chests on screen. It's only really an alright (read: not "good") choice if you have nothing else to upgrade, but even then.. I can think of other weapons to choose instead which have more utility.
@@GespenstMorder I don't think it's too much of an investment, at least if your goal is to beat the level. I've only put in about ten hours, but I've never struggled recently to hit full build and start leveling for coins. Cross is also Def good, it's a shame that Asmon dislikes it
The primary issue with Penta is by the time you can afford to take it you're down to the last slots in your build. You have to seriously thread a needle for it to shine early/mid and one screw up can cost you a good run. So in most circumstances, it's pulling gold to you, not xp. Plus just run one direction for 5-10 screens then turn around lol

@@soul0172 It takes around 30 mins to clear a round if a success (if failure probably between 20+ where it gets messy) so now you know last run = clear run = last 30 mins up down. Also why read comments before finishing the video, the man above me is right, people are gonna talk about the video they already have watched so you are gonna read spoilers by choice.

how can you hear words while reading? I read a lot and am quiet fast but I need instrumental music or songs in a language I don't speak, otherwise I get distracted all the time.
@@catdragons If you have a full item bar and pick up an item on the map it lets you overflow the limit and take more items then you would normally be allowed to.
This game just proves that you don't need to be fancy to be a fun engaging game. Also, the dev could have blocked reassigning of the power-up and made it like you had to spend gold to do that but they made it all free. Now you can do many builds and use those power-ups in many ways while playing it and you will not get bored cause in a new run when you get more money you can just make a new build.
True, all you need is time till you find out the value of stuff like duplicator, power ups, evolutions and even the coins just take sometime, by the time you get used to the gameplay you are progressing on unlocks and permanent powerups or new characters to experiment.
The enemy HP is based on *your level not the timer,* even bosses. So you don't need to feel pressured to pick up crystals if you will take damage. The crystals won't disappear even though there is a limit to how many will be shown, they eventually merge to create a green or red gem. Chat really likes to yell at him to pick up the crystals...
One of the most addicting games in a looong time. Very simple and fun game The fact that it's only 3$ and gets regular updates is almost unfair when you look at how much other games make with stupid visual shit

Santa water becomes one of the strongest things especially after you have all the passives since it is buffed by size, duration, cooldown, amount, and speed. You can easily get la borra circles around the size of the bibles ring.
Garlic's a great 1 pointer in any build - having it max'd looks awesome too, but I think most of the fun it has to offer is playing with your health similar to a warlock that's sacrificing health for damage. Garlic in general is similar to applying Necromancer curses on enemies, and Soul Eater is more powerful when you're not at max HP. Both of these encourage you to continually stay up in mob's faces and purposely eat small hits for gains. I like how so many of the weapon evolutions add those macro-level changes.
I know you wont read this, but i'll write you a guide anyway, might help someone else who is starting out. In this game any modifier spells that focuses on utility and defense is useless, only damage is worth picking. The best spells are those with best wave clearing abilities, which is why spells like runetracer is bad. There are really good spells, but that still get a lower rank because the modifier spell is a utility or defense focused. S-tier spells: -The bible: high aoe damage with knockback, connected utility spell also affects other aoe spells -Duplicator: This modifier gives 1-2 projectiles, which is great for almost every spell, exception is for example garlic. The lightning ring which uses duplicator as upgrade path isnt needed even though its a great spell, but the duplicator is insanely great on its own, practically a must have on almost every build. -Phiera Der Tuphello and Eight the Sparrow: you havent unlocked these spells yet, but theyre among the best dps. Uses Tiragisú as upgrade path which is a shitty spell to take on its own. A-tier spells: -Firewand: insanely high damage and uses the leaf for its upgrade path which boosts dps on any other spells -Magic wand: high damage and great knockback. uses empty tomes for upgrade path so it boost dps/spam for every other spells B-Tier spells: -Axe: great damage and knockback, uses chandelier as upgrade path which boosts aoe size for every other aoe spells -knife: high burst damage which is great for bosses. Uses the bracers as upgrade path which increases projectile speed, which is fairly useless. -Lightning ring: Good aoe damage, uses duplicator as upgrade path which is s-tier on its own. C-tier: -Rune tracker: great pierce damage, but lacks aoe. uses armor as upgrade path which is useless and a waste of spell space -cross: great damage, but uses luck as the upgrade path which is very useless for most builds -Santa water: good damage, but fairly useless unless its been fully upgraded. Uses the orb as its upgrade path which is completely unecesarry to have after you have bought increased pickup range in the coin shop. Would easily be a high B-tier skill if it wasn't for the orb which doesn't synergize with other spells. D-tier: -Whip: high damage and good knockback, but very limited aoe since it only hits on the side. Uses black hearts as upgrade path which makes it especially useless -Garlic: Godlike early game, but falls off mid-game unless you have been focused on leveling it, falls off lategame even with its fully evolved upgrade since it doesnt synergize with duplicator. Its upgrade path is the red heart which is useless to have, especially since you already get some healt regen from the coin shop. The usefullness of this spell is very deceptive -Pentagram: Kills everything, even loot. Only worth investing in if youre going luck build so the loot doesnt get deleted. Uses the crown as the upgrade path which allows you to level faster, but because of the insanely high cooldown time makes this spell useless since it often happens when you dont need it and doesnt happen when you do. F-tier: -wings: you get enough movement speed from coin shop -org: you get enough pickup reach from coin shop -clock lancet: isnt affected from any modifier spells -Laurel: temporary invoularability, allows you to pass through mobs without taking damage, which any decent spells would allow you to do anyway in addition to getting the kill. -armor: its useless lategame when enemies kill you in a couple of seconds anyway, a waste of space -Tiragisú: you just revive in the same bad situation that killed you. only take if you are gonna upgrade Phiera Der Tuphello and Eight the Sparrow which are s-tier spells
This game is only $3 and could probably run on a smartfridge, but it's the most fun I've had slaughtering armies of zombies since the first time I played Diablo II as a kid
The dev says that the engine he used to make the game is bad. Hes currently porting it to a better engine that he can develop on (porting? transferring? idk the exact word). You'll be getting 120 fps on a toaster at the 30 min mark within the month.
@@nom6758 it's good now. The demo on itch is still garbo tho, it lags like hell on the skeleton swarm, but the updated version runs smooth on whatever.
this game looks pretty great and it's price tag is pretty fair at....only $3!?! this looks sooo worth it, and barely 5 minutes into this video I went and picked it up.
This game is worth $15 easy, it's a great game that will provide tens, if not hundreds of hours of entertainment. It's also constantly updated, which they will continue with in the future as well.
@@Marius_ae But being this cheap IS actually the reason so many people buying it. If they think it sucks, they say "well it was only 3 bucks". But if they pay 15$, and they don't like it, they're going to ask for refund. In the current scenario the dev guy gets to keep way more money. ^^

It's legit fun and engaging, just a bit challenging at the beginning and somewhat grindy but if you don't have time to play the game you don't need to play the game. I'm glad it only costed R$6 for me tho (little more than 1 USD), wouldn't buy it if it was 10 bucks (maybe R$55)
Yeah. Also the laurel. You can just shove your way out of a dead end with a good laurel and beat the game. This dude doesn't even know what it does, and I think that if he gave the laurel a chance he would have beaten some stage on first day like me. Also it's fine he learns about pushback in this game ffs. How he still thinks the magic wand is just aimbot garbage is beyond me. I isolate the bosses and push my way outta trouble.

Garlic is only OP early to mid game. Damage falls off later. You would need something to deal massive damage later on. Evolved pyro wand (especially since it uses spinach) and evolved axes (because it increases area of attack) are good. Evolved Whip is a better alternative to evolved garlic since it deals massive damage and the healing is much better (not to mention that whip starts off strong and just becomes stronger). evolved king bible is good because it can be used as push-back. Evolved penta is definitely end game but you need something to fend off enemies such as bible. The blue wand imo just sucks overall because it doesn't scale well to end game. The evolved version doesn't add much since it just removes the cooldown.
I'm glad he was able to beat a round, despite his chat dragging him down. The amount of people trying to get him to pick up things he didn't even have access to boggled my mind. So much so, that I was legit getting angry, and had to stop watching for a bit. It's a good thing that he is able to ignore his chat and follow through with his own ideas, and pick out the ones that actually help him.
Axes, rune, and water seem to jack up dps big time once evolved, but garlic is a constant dps so acts like a consistence aoe melee dps so is almost a must
I love how chat was telling him Garlic was terrible and so low for damage, meanwhile Soul Eater on his 2:00:00 run was 3rd for damage overall and it gives life on kill if Soul Eater is the last hit, not only that, but it also reduces enemy resistance to stuns and knockback by a ton. It's basically a 2x knockback debuff on enemies if not more. People who say Garlic isn't worth it have never used it or read the descriptions. If the enemies can't hit you, you can't die, Garlic+Magic Wand is basically a never die build. The knockback doesn't become invalid with so many enemies on the screen that they're pushing past geometry.
Most people who try the game see Garlic and think it's just useful early game to get tons of EXP, and then don't give it a second thought on other uses. So when they see the damage fall of late game they just deduce it's useless. Garlic doesn't work for every build, unlike something like life-stealing whip, but with the right setup it can become vital.
Water was by far underutilised. He had an inate sense for how good it was clearly since he got it every game but it pulled so much weight. Could have won other games if he didn't send them into the bookcase.

Hitting that first 30 minute run in this game is up there with beating your first "filter" boss in a fromsoft game in terms of the most satisfying gaming moments
