It’s definitely weird how badly they dropped the ball with ashbringer, as they so clearly hinted at something and it’s not like it would have taken an enormous effort to implement one quest chain in some fashion to follow through.

The "Emerald Dream" zone wasn't just "in the game files", the zone was live on all servers, but it had its very own continent shard, so you couldn't reach it no matter which continent you were zoned into. However, a glitch called "Otherworld" was once discovered and made into an actual program, a hack, which allowed you to select a continent shard and just log into it directly, and it included an option for the Emerald Dream. I used it to explore the Emerald Dream on live servers, although I got Fatigue in large parts of the map. But that was many years ago, I don't think it's still in the game on retail, and it has probably also been removed from Classic along with GM island and the rest.

I played with kuroma, he was rank 14 for longer than 6 months to make it even more crazy he had a guild member (from a guild called War For Profit) and they were both rank 14 and kept it for a long time, dropping off only to allow other members of their guild to get rank 14 then grinding back up again. This is from Daggerspine Ally - and the most crazy thing? He was a feral druid.

Best part about Kuroma - the player who held rank 14 for months and months and months - was that he was a FERAL DRUID and it was done pre-TBC. xD

Kuroma was a legend at level 49 AB, he just kept it going at 60.

I'd like to add, Kuroma-Daggerspine was playing nearly 24/7 for those 6 months. I believe he held rank 14 for longer than that, as my friend group always commented on him still being grand marshal. My best guess would be he held it for around a year.

A little surprised Frostmourne isn't on this list. It's not an actual item, but the model ID exists in the game for use. Even a broken version exists...

GM's had artifact items whenever they logged in and were a sight to behold whenever inspected

6 month old video, but something I thought for sure would happen in Legion was that Turalyon would die. Because way back in TBC, Arator (his son with Alleria) said he kept having dreams of reuniting with his dying father amid a swarm of demons.

Blizzard went back on their word on the first announcement of the game, “We will not do expansion packs like Ever Quest, all new content will be released by patches and updates.” Basically they went for the money and learned the lesson EQ taught early. Make more money by releasing expansions for sale. They WILL buy it.

Kuroma had multiple play styles because at minimum 3 people were playing him. Brothers iirc. Used to fight him a lot at farm - guaranteed to see him there. Sometimes he'd destroy you, sometimes he'd turn weird and not know what to do.. almost a bot but not quite.

Keeping in mind when WOW launched in 2004, the easiest method to get this information was digging through forums (very unreliable) and random video sites which didn't have the credibility of a platform like RU-vid. RU-vid didn't come around until 2006 which is the era of the net most people are familiar with and don't understand what a struggle it was to find out some of this info.

Back in WotLK I was able to get to the Emerald Dream on retail. I don’t fully remember what it was, but you had to use some script (OwnedCore was the site I believe where people used forums to discuss exploration/glitches) to glitch your game. It turned Kalimdor into the emerald dream. While you were physically on the Kalimdor continent, you would only see the emerald dream. Other plays would see you flying through mountains, building etc. I might still have videos or screen shots in my old laptop. I even drew a map of the dream overlayed onto the Kalimdor continent, and it was about 60/70% the size of Kalimdor from what I remember. I might even have that map in storage somewhere. Deadmines did have old Outland and I remember going there last during Cata. You could also get to GM island in Cata! I haven’t played in forever so I’m not sure if any of this is possible still. The exploration guy never claimed you could enter The Emerald Dream, he was simply showing cut content...

cleansing the ashbringer would be really nice if there ever will be a classic plus. maybe add it as a sort of dungeon where you go to either outland to for the lost son or add it as a caverns of time dungeon where you interact with the original creators of the weapon (like in the escape from durnholde southshore event)

wow absolutely should add hidden secret insanely hard to obtain items.. with hints throughout the game. I know in this day and age when one person finds it, everyone knows but maybe if they constantly change the different clues once one person finds it? that would be so interesting

On the Classic plus thing, it would depend on how the zones were implemented, are the zones going to all be zones for level 60s or comparable to their location in the world. Would the level cap be raised from the level 60 cap making the level 60 content unnecessary, like each expansions did?

just before Cata came out I mostly soloed the Scepter of shifting sands quest chain because I heard a rumor that when wrath launched someone was able to bang the gong again and that after cat the quest chain would be removed so I thought maybe it will happen this time and went for it. The scepter is still sitting in my bank, not that I'm playing anymore

My old L60 Orc Warrior over on the Darkspear Server DID once go inside and run ALL around in Karazhan. There just wasn't any mobs placed in it yet at that time...

30:00 you have to realuse that the whole game is based around you alone being a legendary hero. The other 19 ppl in the raid are just there to carry your hero to where he needs to be. So it does make sense in a way.

The thing about those myths is I actually made it to places like the under-construction mt hyjal, the dwarf farms with the gate that drops you off the map, the dancing troll village... so you started thinking maybe some of that other stuff was true too lol Different times. It wasn’t as easy to find reliable information and said information often had no means of refutation like a forum or comment section under it. It was very easy to deceive us, especially when there were a half dozen or so times that it actually worked and something crazy WAS accessible lol... I keep thinking of more as I write this.

Nothing requires effort by community. Everything progress in raid, do reputations, get high level mythic key, then repeat on ALT or wait for next week.

The raid leader decided loot thing was based on the fact that in BC you could link an item and if no one logged on since Tuesday reset with item or a mob(boss) in an instance you would crash. What happened was during BT people would be standing at the instance entrance right as servers went up and get invited by people who logged on and zone in and link the warglaives if they did not crash while linking one they were made raid lead and not allowed to log off or zone out till raid time. Blizzard fixed this after 2 weeks by making all items load in so since there are no longer unloaded items it made everything linkable after reset.

So funny story about rivens death charger, my dad had farmed it for nearly a year every day, but it never dropped so he stopped farming, mom wanted to try farming it but didn't know how so she asked him to show the path and what to do, it dropped on that run. And this was before mounts were shared on your account but ma still gave up once it dropped lol

Me and my guild fully believed and shared that when you made a new character you had an ingame hidden timer to save mankirks wife. it was around 6 hours. so my server had many save his wife runs of new chars.

As a Paladin Main in Classic (even before their rework), I believed the Ashbringer myth. Finding out it was a myth was devastating to me. Getting it in Legion was great, too bad I was a Holy main, Prot offspec and just didn't like Retribution (I'm just not good at DPS).

You could totally enter KZ crypts. Two ways included: Being polymorphed by the gate and wandering in. Jumping under the world on a flying mount in the ogre cave to the east.

It's really hard with modern tech to hide things in games anymore. But I would love another MMO with such rewarding theorycrafting. It's what makes games like WoW and dark souls such masterpieces.

The last living son of Alexandros Mograine, a former knight of the Argent Dawn, was Darion Mograine, he came into possession of the Corrupted Ashbringer after his father was murdered by his brother, Renault Mograine. Darion used it to kill himself and free his father's soul. He later becomes leader of the Death Knight during Wotlk.

Regarding the linear vs circular Molten Core design. I like it better when a dungeon/raid has a linear design, where skipping stuff is nearly impossible. I hate todays dungeons/raids because they incentivise skippin whole sections of adds and stuff.

So the Molten Core takes has so much backtracking because of Jeff Kaplan! DAMN YOU OVERWATCH MAN!

to get the ashbringer from corrupted one you need to re-live the initial cleanse, you'll need 5 paladins casting holy magic on the target until the corruption is gone and you'll get the ashbringer, you're welcome

The Bengal Tiger ""make a wish only"" stuff is just ridiculous you can easily get it in the game no matter retail or what. All I did was log into my little sister's account and it was there.

Here is a myth most people still believe to this day. "Stratholme and Scholomance were 10 mans." They never were. Their instance portal was blue (as opposed to green), the quests inside them were not marked as raid quests. Anyone then will remember "Let me drop group to loot the deed then reinvite me before I am teleported out". People just took 10 people to them since the trash strength and respawn rate was unreasonable for 5 people, but the instances themselves were always dungeons, never raids. Back then there was no instance caps so you could bring 40 people in Deadmines if you wanted to.

I played horde on Daggerspine back then. I remember that guy!

i got rivendare's death charger on my second run to straholme in vanilla. at the time no one else had it on the server. looking back i cant believe how lucky i was. it was nearly six months before i saw another one. i would sometimes just sit mounted on it outside the AH for hours just to show off...lol. i also had the first ghost saber on the server. since then....nothing...no server firsts ever. lol.

Back when I was a kid, I was a GM on a private server. I was fucking around with teleport codes and ended up in the Emerald Dream. It was just endless random green coloured shapes with no textures. I'm guessing it was a fallback place to be teleported to if an incorrect coordinate was entered, but hey, I don't know, I was like 10

I think that the best thing Blizzard could do is to create a divergent timeline with different expansions that branch from classic.

Imagine getting classic+ with the scraped zones which would contain the uber long endgame quest for artifact weapons, like the outlands would have quests for physical classes like warglaves for rogues/warriors, emerald dream for magic guys (warlocks priests mages) and that scrapped forest somewhere would have quest for nature classes (shaman hunter druid), also a zone for healers. Players would shit their pants everytime

I seen ashbringer on a paladin on bank steps in cataclysm. He was sitting on the turtle mount and had the 2200 cataclysmic PvP gear on and had almost every achievement in the game. He never said how he got it but it was equipped with some BS enchant like demonslaying or +2 damage but he 100%had it
